A local pagan shop was going out of business and I bought some incense base in a couple colors... I attemped to use it in my loose incense, but got the feeling I was doing it wrong. Does anyone else here use it?

I have an incense blend I picked up from a shop a few years ago that is loose and colored, but I don't know how they did it. I have always thought of colors being used in cones/sticks. I wish I had some information for you, but I don't. All my incense is loose and natural. I don't use base or fillers, just herbs and oils.

What was it you bought? I'm not sure what you mean by "base" - like gum arabic?
Ooo...new smilies

When I make my incense, I usually use herbs, resins (like copal, etc) and oils. What I bought is fine and powdery. I bought it in blue, black and ivory. :) I tried to use it in an incense, but I must have used too much, because it burned and smoked well, but I couldn't smell the herb mixture. Maybe its base to make combustible incense.
I can think of creative ways to use it... but I'm wondering if anyone has bought something like this before... :) Thanks!
