Symbols for me depend a lot on the context, so some things can have many different meanings.
Snakes -- Danger, being constrained, doublespeak
Holding a baby (not yours) -- maternal instincts, needing something.
A warm fireplace -- comfort, safety
A House on fire (trying to escape the fire) -- escape, fear, restlessness
Working at your job -- Boredom, everyday or mundane things
Thunderstorm -- Power, Divine Energy
money (coins) -- bills, payday, shopping, change
Talking with someone you don't know -- Curiosity, nervousness
A sign (any sign that keeps showing up in your dream) -- depends on the sign, and the context.
Numbers -- Time, sequence
Being at a party where you don't know anyone -- Uneasiness, Restlessness,
Church -- order, grandeur, solemnity
A movie you have watched -- comfort, simplicity,
Dogs (One not your own coming to your house) -- An opportunity, possible danger, strangers
Getting married but you don't know the person in the dream -- A new partnership

Snakes- Danger
Holding a baby (not yours)- i think this depends on how you feel during the dream. if you feel confused, maybe it means you have too many responsibilities to handle, but if you feel okay, maybe it means maternal instincts.
A warm fireplace- comfort
A House on fire (trying to escape the fire)- being trapped
Working at your job- everyday life
Thunderstorm- scared, alone
money (coins)- wealth, luck
Talking with someone you don't know- meeting someone new, trying something different
A sign ( any sign that keeps showing up in your dream)- depends on what the sign is telling you (stop sign may tell you you are heading in the wrong direction with something and need to rethink.)
Numbers- in order may mean something else, but out of order could mean chaos, confusion.
Being at a party where you don't know anyone- a feeling of insecurity, maybe feeling that friends don't really care..
Church- not sure what this means..
A movie you have watched- familiarity
Dogs (One not your own coming to your house)- feeling of being lost, fear, danger
Getting married but you don't know the person in the dream- confusion, blind trust

A warm fireplace-- comfort
A House on fire (trying to escape the fire)--fear, maybe symbolizes trying to escape something in real life.
Working at your job---too much on your mind!
Thunderstorm--energy
money (coins)-- luck, maybe you want something
Talking with someone you don't know--- maybe you'll meet someone new, being nervous about an upcoming event

Numbers---time going by
Being at a party where you don't know anyone---uncomfortable, nervous
Church--- questions in religions
A movie you have watched---comfort--I usually dream of a movie rif I watch one right before going to bed
Dogs (One not your own coming to your house)---fear, stranger, unknown
Getting married but you don't know the person in the dream-- a new friend, a new meeting

I have a question: tygherrayn, halfwaynowhere, DixieWitch
Why is it you think a dream of being at a party where you don't know anyone is a negative dream? You all put good answers I'm just wondering why nobody thought of it as an opportunity, chance for advancement, new beginnings.

For me, it's because usually, if I'd be *anywhere*--party, etc, I feel uncomfortable if I don't know anyone there. That's my personal feeling of it. I'm not very comfortable in any situation where I don't know anyone.

well, from personal experience, thats how i would feel... again, it all depends on how you feel as you dream the dream... I usually feel uncomfortable around strange people in my dreams...

Well done.......your interpreting your feelings in with the dream but would you do that if you would interpret for someone else? When doing so you need to look at all sides. Include your thoughts on how you would feel but focus on on the other person responds to things then give your interpretation to that person of their dream.
:fpompoms :fpompoms :fpompoms Your all doing a great job..................

First of all I believe that in every dream you have to interpret taking into account all the symbols of the dream.Because a symbol may originally be interpreted as a bad omen but if the rest of the symbols are good then it is a good omen.
Snakes-Generally the snake symbolizes power, transformation and new energies. It is an ancient symbol of mysticism and the animal that guards the our sleep. In contrast, snakes are also considered bad omens a belief that is mainly christian(see Adam and Eva).It varies from person to person. For me seeing a snake it means that an ennemy disguised a friend is working against me.
-Holding a baby (not yours) It symbolizes:a.The want for a baby of your own b.The capability of having a baby of your own c.A responsibility which is not yours given to you.Babies also symbolize innocence and the beginning of a new life.
A warm fireplace- I think it symbolizes your own family and home. The feeling you get when you sit with your family around a fire or the warmth your own home may provide you.It may mean that you have your family's support and that you are protected inside your house.
A House on fire (trying to escape the fire)- I've seen this one before.I think that it rarely means that your house is literary going to be burned.Fire is both a good and a bad omen.Fire is purifying,it get rids of bad feelings, its a powerful element. It might mean that your house, your base or your fundamental beliefs, are burned or purified and that you start again fresh and awaken. If you are running frightened it might mean that there's a threat above your "house" and you are afraid to face it.
Working at your job- Most times this is interpreted as stress. We many times see our school or our place of work.In a closer look though,if you are working peacefully and with will it means that your work isn't at stake, you are safe in your post and your efforts are paying. Now if you are feeling restless and panicky it indicates that something is wrong, you may be fired or you should be more careful how you handle the different tasks.
Thunderstorm- I always interpret this by considering the surroundings. If you are alone in the thunderstorm there is a possibility that you will face difficulties alone,if you are with your bf/husband:a)you will have clouds in your relationship or b)he will help you through this etc A thunderstorm may also be revealing you something, you should be careful where the thunders strike because you may find the truth there.
money (coins) Hm...Here in Greece we believe that giving money(especially in the deads) is something bad.It means that you are gicing your ennemy(etc) a cause to harm you.Now if you are receiving money it shows that happiness and joy are coming your way. Finally,it may just show that money will enter your life and you will be able to pay eg the bills.
Talking with someone you don't know Different meanings can appear here too.The act of talking to a stranger by itself doesn't mean many things. We must take into account if the person is friendly or aggresive, what are we talking about etc It may be a person we already know disguised in a cloak of beliefs, more easily he can be a liar.He can just be though a stranger, someone who will come and go.
A sign ( any sign that keeps showing up in your dream) This dream is REALLY important,as I believe. You should never avoid repetative symbols in your dreams. They possibly mean a variation of things.A symbol might be a sign from a God/Goddess,a spirit guide,a divination symbol like a rune etc
Numbers Numbers are really easy to interpret because numbers mean what they mean. The uses of numbers in dreams are also endless eg if a pregnat woman sees the number 2 she might give birth to 2 children, numbers like 38569 might be the winning numbers of a lottary or 33 might be the number of a street you are meant to find.
Being at a party where you don't know anyone Hostile environment. It can represent the person's curremt state of life.He/she might be in an event/life without friends or at least he/she thinks so.Just like in parties all she/he has to do is go to talk someone or just dance by himself/herself.
Church For me it would be the fear of staying Christian lol Now seriously, church may be a christian artifact but it is a place where Christian worship their god,a sacred place. For me it would be more of a nightmarish dream but for a Christian it would be a sign that he strongly supports his religious beliefs.
A movie you have watched lol I see such dreams all the time!Well this isn't difficult, dreams with movies don't mean that we are gonna meet the actors. They are just a message from the sub-concious telling us that the movie touched us either good or bad.
Dogs (One not your own coming to your house) New friends.A dog is a represantation of loyalty,so a dream with dogs coming your way means new friends coming into your life.It depends though on how the dogs act, because even though the dog is domestic,he still preserves the untamed instincts of wildness and it can prove lethal when it is needed. Moreover,if in a dream you seem to follow a dog he will lead you to the right choice or path.
Getting married but you don't know the person in the dream This can be a prophetic dream.Sometimes maidens and virgins dream of the man they are going to marry.Otherwise, marriage may mean a new beginning with someone new(the person u don't know). If the woman is already married it indicates inner conflicts with her current husband.

I think it's because I would feel alone and out of place in such a situation. I don't enjoy being in a situation where I know no one at all, and so in a dream of my own, it would be a negative thing.
That's not to say I would interpret anothers' dream that way, as it would depend on what the situation meant to -them- ... but for me, that's it.

as far as any interpretations are concerned, you need to look at who you are interpreting for. I based my answers on what they would mean to me, but obviously they would mean something different for somebody else. You just have to have an understanding of what's going on with that person.

Snakes- To me the snake represents the more primitive older part of my mind
Holding a baby thats not yours- nurturing a part of oneself thats been neglected or is new
A house on fire- represents to me anger or a driving passion.
Working on your job-feeling trapped and the need to do something exciting and spontaneous
Thunderstorm- It represents powerful magic, wild enegery and any storm or weather Deity.
Money- Worrying about financial problems
Talking to someone you don't know- either one's inner voice or someone you're gonna meet in waking life.
Sign- invisible borders that need to be crossed.
Numbers- I don't really know much about numbers
Being at a party where you don't know anyone-like an outsider awkwardness and insecurity
Church-a manifestation of spirituality, sometimes conflicting sometimes peaceful.
Watching a movie- reflection on events in your life
Dogs- an attacking dog means that you are being to impatient and take kind of a drill seargant or a breach of loyalty from someone close to you, feeling overly defensive about something
a dog can also represent protection, loyalty and friendship.
Getting married to someone you don't know- represents a major change in your life and perhaps someone significant that can help you transition to that major change, or maybe a future lover.

I believe the meaning of a symbol can be different not only depending on the context of the dream and how the person reacts to it within the dream and also depends on the person's background and culture.
Snakes- The representation of the Cycle, both the beginning and the end. Infinity has been depicted as the snake eating its own tail. To the Mayans, the rattlesnake was both a god and the basis of their mathematics and ritual cycles. The snake is always significant to me, speaking of the end and/ or start of a cycle, or relationship or situation.
Holding a baby (not yours) I think this depends on how you would feel about holding the baby. It could be a symbol of important responsibility placed upon you. Perhaps it is temporary, as if you are a guardian. Perhaps you are not prepared for what the spirits have asked of you at this time and you feel over-burdened. It could also be about the need for an emotional tie of bond to another. Or, again, it could be about a relationship you feel the other person is being immature.
A warm fireplace Again the image in itself is a wonderful symbol: warmth, a fireplace, home, safety, protection, family, security, a place within the self or within your life that is stable and secure. But fire is also a symbol of passion, illumination and also anger. The fireplace could be the beginning of an idea, like a story told around the fire, or the start of a relationship. Many avenues for the base of this fire to burn.
A House on fire (trying to escape the fire) Like the Death card in the Tarot Deck, many people think this image is one of doom or a negative image. Fire, again, is usually about passion. A house on fire and trying to escape it is the feeling of your emotions and passions getting away from you, can mean a very passionate relationship. Perhaps that is frightening and confusing. But whatever it is, it is very intense.
Working at your job This depends how you feel about your job. It could be just a trickle of "Day Residue"... you are working too hard or often so now you are dreaming about your job. As a symbol, however, for myself, it usually means being in the middle of a project, one that needs attention. In this culture it may tend some to believe that your life is in stasis, since many people are not satisfied with their jobs. It can mean contentment with your current situation.
Thunderstorm Thunderstorms are sacred for me. They are the cradle of power and divine force within your life. It is never clear what the influence will be, but it can change everything. And it is coming, like it or not
money (coins) Money in itself is a representation of materialistic success within your life. What happens to it or how you feel about it in your dream is the key to whether it is a good omen or bad.
Talking with someone you don't know Other people in your dream can many times just be an aspect of yourself. If you are talking with someone you don't know it can mean it is an aspect of yourself or your personality you have yet to discover. I find if I have lengthy conversations with someone, I try to write down as much as I can about the person, what we said, did and how I felt. I have always seen this as a time in my life as an opportunity to try something new.
A sign ( any sign that keeps showing up in your dream) Anything that continues to show up in your dreams is significant. I used to have recurring dreams about running through mazes. A sign is this: something the Spirits or your Deeper Mind wants you to know.
Numbers I am not sure if you mean actual numerals or seeing items in the same number (three birds, three avocados, etc.) Numbers in dreams are a whole set of interpretation in itself. A numbe or recurring number will have significance to the person, from the people I have talked with. Numbers as a symbol I find are a representation of something the person is missing, a block in their energy to achieve balance. The number represents the vibration and direction to help them achieve that balance. In short, the number is a guide for their path within this cycle.
Being at a party where you don't know anyone I have always categorized this like talking to someone I didn't know. It is a symbol of a new beginning: an undiscovered part of the self/ life/ adventure. Enjoy yourself. Explore.
Church Sacred ground within a dream is very humbling to me. It is both the seeking and finding of a spiritual path.
A movie you have watched Again, it could be just "Day Residue", but movie/ TV/ a play any kind of action that leaves you watching something can mean you have a passive role in your life or feeling that you are. Or perhaps you are feeling detached from a situation you are in. what the movie is can be important.
Dogs (One not your own coming to your house) whether this is a good or bad omen really depends on how the dogs act. dogs are about loyalty and ability. Perhaps this is a new person coming into your life who will be a really close friend. Maybe you will see a skill in another that you want to learn. Dogs are guardians and very primal, instinctual symbols.
Getting married but you don't know the person in the dream For me this represents an important part of your life or personality that you have not really explored, but will be coming to the surface soon. A Wedding is a union, so understanding that aspect of the self is going to help you in the long run.

Snakes: Deceit/wisdom
Holding a baby: A new beginning, responsibility
A warm fireplace: home, security
A house on fire (trying to escape a fire): trying to escape old ways. Change.
Working at your job: It probably depends on the dream and your feelings about your job, but I’ll say that it could represent boredom.
Thunderstorm: A thunderstorm to me would represent emotional upset.
Money (coins): coins would mean to me not enough money, unless they were gold or something then it could mean something else. I read once that money meant self worth, if so a few ordinary coins would mean low self esteem, and a lot of money or gold would mean the opposite.
Talking with someone you don’t know: It depends, but if it is non threatening I think it means gaining new information or new insight into something.
A sign (any sign that keeps showing up in your dream): I think that any sign that keeps showing up would be something that would be very important to pay attention to.
Numbers: I would look into numerology to see what the number meant...if it’s a telephone # or address maybe represents a new place to live, or contacting someone you haven’t talked to for a long time.I think it just depends on the dream and what kind of numbers.
Being at a party where you don’t know anyone: feeling out of place, alone or making new friends..Depends on what happens in the dream I suppose.
Church: for me it would probably mean being where I don’t belong, being stifled. It could mean being in a sacred or holy place. Coming to God, or finding your spirituality.
A movie you have watched: maybe there’s something in the dream that needs to be learned.
Dogs (one not your own coming to your house): maybe gaining new friends, or if the dogs are vicious, maybe your friends have turned on you or are disloyal.
Getting married but you don’t know the person In the dream: you are getting to know (marrying) a part of yourself that has been hidden...sort of joining or incorporating the old and new self.

Crow
Possible danger coming your way, as crows are often an omen of danger. However, they are also a symbol of knowledge, so they could be a symbol of a search for knowledge also. In addition, crows are often linked to Crone goddesses, so it could be an indication of an Older woman's message, especially if the crow is speaking. Crow is often seen as a symbol of reincarnation, so might symbolize a cycle about to change. And of course, there's always the possibility that you're about to 'eat some crow'.
Friend leaving
The most simplistic meaning could be just what it implies; that someone you know and are close to is going to leave. It could also indicate a fear that you and a friend seems to be parting ways emotionally, growing apart as it were.
Family union
I would see this as a joining of two forces, whether it be in marriage, or a reunion of estranged family members, or other possible ways.
ants
Ants are industrious little creatures, so they could mean some work coming your way. I'm not particularly fond of them myself, so I'd be inclined to interpret them as unpleasant work. They often are seen as invaders so they might be interpreted as someone or something invading your life.
Caught in a web
Being or feeling stuck in a situation. Webs and spiders are generally seen as threats in a dream, as dangers.
Stepping on stones trying not to step in the water
This might indicate a feeling like you're having to tread carefully lest you hurt someone's feeligns, or not wanting to get involved in something going on around you.
Looking into someone's eyes as if time stands still
Love. For me this is a symbol of love, though it could also be an indication of being trapped or mesmerized so much that you notice nothing else, like a deer can be trapped by headlights or a spotlight.
Never getting out the door (something always stops you)
Again, this is often a symbol of feeling trapped or blocked by something. I would interpret it as a creative block in this case, as something desperately wants to come out but cannot.
Signing a paper but you can't read what it says on it.
This could possibly mean a new business venture that isn't yet clear to you, or the possibility of some legal activity.

Getting married but you don't know the person in the dream
Getting married but you don’t know the person in the dream: making a commitment to something you don’t know much about. Such as a business partnership.
Holding a baby (not yours): Taking on another persons responsibilities.
Warm fireplace: Represents material prosperity and relaxtion. It could also mean the same thing in a spiritual sense depending on the rest of the dream.
Chruch: Taking refuge in one’s own spirituality.
Thunderstorm: Impulsive, possibly dangerous behavior. Being out of control with ones own emotions.
Money (coins): Desire for more money, could indicate financial instability.
Dogs (one not your own coming to your house): If the dogs are friendly then I would say that it represents the coming of a new friend in the dreamers life or perhaps just a friendly aquitance. If the dogs are threatening the coming of a potentially harmful person into the dreamers life.
Being at a party where you don’t know anyone: Being placed in a strange new situation. Feeling out of place.
A house on fire (trying to escape the fire): Troubled situations within the dreamers current household from which the dreamer wishes to escape.
Snakes: Deception, sneaky behavior. Depending on the way the snakes appear in the dream it may indicate the dreamers own actions.
Working at you job: Work that has been neglected in the workplace. Work that needs to be done.
A movie you have watched: reflecting on joyfilled aspects of one old lifestyle Perhaps even indulgin in certain aspects of one’s old lifestyle.
Numbers: Not too sure. Could you be more specific? I'd say that it's the same as sign but interpreted differently.
Sign: Something that one’s higher self is trying to communicate about one's current path that has been either ignored or has gone unoticed.
