I'm currently working on a Samhain/ Halloween gathering for my college. It's centering around death and our reaction to it, our history with it, and it's affect on our spirituality. It's an very open gathering, incorporating many different cultures, religions, and theories on death.
I'm planning to talk about death (as reflected in the Tarot) as change rathering than an end. I talk about the religious aspects of the death. I'm also planning to talk about death in American society.
However, I want to include a small ritual at the end of the gathering. I'm not sure what I want to do with it because I want to keep it very open i.e. not too overly Pagan (I do go to a Lutheran college). I'm thinking of naming off many gods and goddess related to death and perhaps using some lines from religious ceremonies such as "til death do us part". I'm also going to incorporate the Jewish tradition of leaving stones on graves. I'm creating an altar for people to bring pictures of loved ones and other things that have "died" (habits, friendships, jobs, etc.).
I'd apperciate some ideas on this though. I'd love some more ideas on death in different cultures or some myths.
