A quiz off of Lifetime Movie Networks' website...the rest of the article, I think, is VERY poorly written, full of sweeping generalizations, and slanted views..but it's lifetime..whaddya want? Anyway..the Quiz is cool!

You're right, the article is certainly lacking, but I guess they're not going for in-depth journalism! :D Thanks for sharing that link to the quiz!

Really, the only part I didn't like was..
Today, practitioners of Wicca and other goddess-based religions are coming out of the broom closet at a steady rate. "It's socially acceptable to say, 'Oh, my son or daughter has become a witch.'" Dr. Berger says. "People respond, 'Oh, really? Mine's become a Buddhist.'"

because, well.. no it isn't socially acceptable to say that.. at least not where I live, or in many places, that I've heard.

I really didn't like the way they made Wicca sound all fluffy and nice. Sometimes it's not about being fluffy and nice. But then again, I would rather have this view out there, than the usual--we worship Satan and sacrifice small children thing. Maybe it's just me, but I don't want this new generation of kids to want to become Wiccan just because it sounds cool. I don't want it to become a media-generated religion... it almost seems to me that doing so would mock us. Hope I'm making some kind of sense here. :)

Maybe it's different here on the coasts. Certainly in California, where alternative religions spring up like wildflowers, I could see such a statement being made. East coast where I live is a bit less accepting than the west one, but then again New Yorkers (like Los Angeleseans) have their own unique mindset. Most New Yorkers have seen so much crazy stuff in their city, conversion to an alternative religion is often taken well in stride.

Yeah.. and I suppose that people in bigger cities have easier times as well... but here, nope.. not happening. Plus, this country is ALOT bigger than just the coasts.. they should have mentioned that. :)
I read, not too long ago, about a girl who was shot and killed because a few of her classmates found out she was Wiccan. In this sad time, where any loony (or non loony I suppose) can get a gun, there's a need to practice a little finesse.. be wary of who you tell. Maybe it's just me being extra super paranoid. I dunno.

you make excellent sense, we will get some of those, we're getting them now, most will soon drop away when the next "cool thing" comes along but a few will find something they have been looking for, perhaps without even knowing it, and they will stay and learn.
