View Full Version : Looks really DO matter!

Today in french class, we had a substitute teacher. Well to mildly describe his appearence, lets just say that he was GORGEOUS. (He looked like a second Terestai, only with really dark hair.) Anyway, all the girls kept on oggling on and on about him and they were all twirling their hair while answering questions and stuff... it was pretty lame. Generally in class, NONE of the girls (except for a couple) ever pay attention to the lesson, let alone volunteer to answer questions in class. But today, EVERY girl pretty much had their hand up for every question asked by him even if they didn't know the answer to the question. The only reason why they were listening and participating though was because we had a gorgeous sub. It was somewhat disturbing. Goes to show how much looks really do matter. Now I'm starting to wonder if us kids would get a better education if all the teachers were gorgeous... what's your opinion on this?

Sadly .....
I do think having stereo type "Good Looks" can make a Whole lot of difference in a persons life.

People do pay more attention to you.
You don't have to struggle nearly so hard, to accomplish half as much, as an average (or less) looking person.

People who say that "looks" don't matter are either blind, or naive!!
Or they're one of the "good looking people who really don't understand.

You should have seen our school spirit when we got the "hot new principal". :fpatricks

I know what you're talking about.

Let's just say that the girls in that French class will grow out of that by the time they go to college or to a university. Or, at least, let's hope so. It does not surprise me that this happened; after all, I did similar things with the cute female teachers I had. Well, not the twirling hair; I've always had long hair but I don't see the point in twirling it.

the silly thing about that teacher business is that it never goes away. Even in college I hear people talk about this teacher or that teacher. Another thing to consider though is different people have different conceptions about what hotness is. For instance two of my friends/roomates have the same teacher (different class) one of them see's him as "the hot british teacher" and the didn't notice his hotness at all because she had a different conception of what was hot.

That theory works well till you get kids like me, tom and Jaz in your class. I think Jaz would have tried to kill the teacher if his g/f looked at the guy like that, where me and Tom start making up rumours such as how he uses his charm to lure his murder victems to their death. In fact in our school the teachers were safer so long as the girls didn't oggle at them. Oh and I had the entire school believing our teachers were murders. Now that makes people listen in class.

Yes, because it's completely the poor man's fault that girls find him attractive.

You know, if I was involved with someone who needed to attack someone just because of where my eyes went, they would have problems real quick. *...shrugs...* But then, I prefer adults and not control freaks.

I was thinking about this, and you know, if the teacher/professor was gorgeous, but not so bright, I can't imagine developing a crush! So, it's possible that to some people brains count too. I know they do for me, my crush isn't nec because he's the most gorgeous man, but because he's one of the smartest I've ever met.

Yeah, looks matter... to teenagers. Most adults I know move beyond that when they start attending college classes, if they didn't move beyond it when they were high school sophomores.

What college did you go to?! I once had a professor who got canned mid-quarter for... erm.... mrphlgersa with a student. And she was the one who pursued him.

And on another note, this is what I look like:

Looks Do Matter!!
No matter How old you are!!!

In a family run business that I worked at not so long ago,
My nephew who is the general manager, specifically said that he was going to hire a couple of new girls for the office, and that they were going to have to be little hotties, because "that's" the sort of girls that draw business into your office.

Now ...
I know he's fulla shite!!
But the bottom line is that he's an adult ... managing a business,
And he believes that Looks DO count!!

**Laughs** Or else he's a teenage boy who never quite matured past adolescence. ;)

You make a good point, though. **Wry smile** Our society says "looks don't matter" in one moment and "sex sells" the next. :p

I will have to, regretfully, agree, looks do matter... students pay more attention in class when they have a good looking teacher who knows what they're talking about... guys pay more attention to good looking girls, and girls pay more attention to good looking guys. You may not mean to do it, but... I guess most people do. Before I dyed my hair I was the girl next door, but after I did I ended up getting a lot of attention from a few fairly good looking boys...

I think that looks matter to an extent... But most everyone has a different opinion about what constitutes good looks. For example, I know plenty of people who would happily drool on the ground Angelina Jolie walks on. I have one friend who couldn't care one way or another, and several more friends that think she's ugly.

I know that people treat me differently at 200+ pounds than when I weighed 110 pounds..no one is really rude to me, but I get ignored a lot and even my husband notices that certain people don't acknowledge my existence. That never used to happen.
