Unicorn Tarot

Hey all, I was wondering what you guys think of the Unicorn Tarot? I won a bid on it tonight on EBAY..I'm really excited since it's my first deck. I felt it was the right one for me to choose since I've always loved unicorns, and horses..the artwork is beautiful. I also read a pretty good review on it, so..any thoughts on this particular deck?

It depends on which Unicorn deck it is. A few years ago I bought one, but was really disappointed with the artwork...never really "clicked" with the deck so I gave it to a friend. But that may very well just be me too...I'd say that if you like the artwork and feel comfortable with the deck then you are 2/3 of the way there....

I have the Unicorn Tarot, by Suzanne Star.

My friend gave it to me, because she wasn't very impressed with the artwork. To be honest, neither was I, at first. I had them for a year, with no sparks, until one day they we *clicked*. I just refused to give up, and started talking to them and working with them everyday... but it was the talking to them that got me. I asked them for help, and they finally responded.

The artwork isn't the best (it's simple and a little off in faces and such), and the book is a little iffy (well, to me)... but unicorns are my saviors, which is why I felt that somehow, this deck had to work for me. And it did eventually.

Of my decks, I think the Unicorn Tarot is probably my favorite to work with. I could never get into the Rider-Waite or even the Universal Waite artwork, but I liked the symbolism. The Unicorn Tarot is based on the Rider-Waite deck, but something about it just seemed so much *warmer* to me. I've seen reviews of it lambasting it for not incorporating the unicorn myths into the tarot, and making it like a "Waite deck that happens to have a unicorn in each picture," but I still prefer to work with it most.

I think it all depends on how well it clicks with you, and since you said you love unicorns and horses, and you liked the art that you saw, it just might be the right deck for you. :smile:

I had this deck one time in my collection. I used it just a couple of times. A good friend of mind mentioned how much liked the deck. I passed it on to her.

If you like the deck and relate to it, go for it. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.
