If you could spend three months anywhere in europe, where would you go? (p.s. this is to help me decide where I'm going next summer!) :sailing:

Well, i already live in Europe, just don't come to Port Talbot, Wales.
Uhm, well, if it had to be in one place, it'd be Florence, Italy.
Otherwise i'd go to Paris, somewhere in Denmark, uhm... Frankfurt... somewhere in Russia, too.
Florence would be my top pick though.

It's almost like being a kid in a candy store! I can't think first of where I'd want to go, Germany, France, Italy. Gawk at castles and cathedrals. I'd probably look up neolithic sites and visit them. I would definitely eat my way around Europe, yum.

I am going to Finland...soon. A certain sweet, sexy, soft-eyed Finn whines to me daily about how enormous the distance is between Finland and North Carolina, and how desperately he wants me there with him...so, soon!
(I love that boy...and that area of the world...)
And we actually talked today about where we would go together if we could go anywhere, just the two of us...and we decided we'd go to the British Isles. :)

There are just sooooo many great places, it's hard to choose the best ones! I was thinking about Scotland and Ireland. Italy has held my interest for eleven years... and recently I've been focussing on Norway. I'd love to see the fjords!

He is sweet. I'm absolutely crazy about him. :) Indeed, go to Scandinavia...the pictures he's shown me were exquisite.

This is hard for me since I've been to Europe 4 times, but... the things that I would most want to show someone....
* The town of Dalkey in County Dublin Ireland. Pat Liddy has a book on walking tours and the Dalkey walk is one of the most beautiful things you can do on this Earth.
* Glendalough (Co. Wicklow) is also an amazingly beautiful place.
* The city of Mons, Belgium is very beautiful; the architecture is splendid.
* Go to Salzburg Austria and climb the fortress... watch a sunset from the fortress... then take a daytrip to the lakes and mountains region.
* Experience the folklore and nature of the Harz Mountain region of Germany

Bear in mind that place like Norway and Switzerland are very very expensive whereas places like Prague are very very cheap.
I don't know if you've seen it yet but the lonely planet website can be very helpful and they have a forum where you can ask specific questions about your trip.

Hi,
I am in Switzerland, and it is very beautiful, but so true about it being expensive!!! Austria, southern France, or northern Italy are similar. My favorite place in the world is Rome, to walk down the Roman forum was an awesome experience. The history blows you away, and the passion for life is contagious there, such an energy! You have not lived til you have had real Italian gelato!
I love Holland. Besides Amsterdam, the country is just an adorable, picturesque wonderland filled with flowers and friendly people who speak English better than natives. Amsterdam has alot more to offer than drugs, Van Gogh museum and Ann Frank house are very moving.
Barcelona is awesome, good energy there too. Island hopping in Greece is amazing.
I could go on forever, I love to travel. What are you interested in doing, seeing? In 3 months you can really do alot. Lets Go guides have itineraries based on how much time you have that are very useful.

I hate you. You suck. I want to go to Europe for three months! J/K Really. Before everyone gets on my rear end, I'm JUST KIDDING!!!
I want to go to Ireland, my "homeland" really bad. Probably Scottland and England too. I'd want to pop my head in on France, Switzerland, and Holland. But I would want to spend more time in Germany and maybe Greece or Italy.

I have been to Germany and France. Germany was great. The castles are amazing. There is also a town called Rothenburg that they've tried to keep as medieval as possible with narrow winding streets and walled fortifications and stuff. Very cool place. Also, if you like beer, Germany is heaven. France has some beautiful countryside but I had trouble with the people. I'll go back again someday to give it another chance but until then me and France are not speaking to each other. But definitely go to Germany.
Where I would personally go is Ireland and Spain.
