Am I the only person here who finds it a little weird...
that an Online Pagan Community needs a special area called "Just Pagan" for pagan talk?
And
that it's mostly full of talk about the supernatural?

I just find it odd that the Paranormal hasn't been seperated for it's own forum. Paranormal occurences and experiences are quite often independant of an individual's spiritual leanings. And pagan, by definition of my understanding, is any religious construct/philosophy/spirituality that is not biblically based.
Christians encountering or experiencing angels/miracles are certainly definable as paranormal, but not Pagan.
Imagine all the world religions leaders being abduct by aliens.. again paranormal, not Pagan.
Or even an individual who has no spiritual leanings but they have visions/ pre-cognitive experiences etc... these are all possible to define paranormaly but not necessarily Pagan...

Well I think were gonna have a paranormal section soon. But I think Just Pagan is good. I mean there are lots of thread in the Just talk section that would be made for here. Like environmental issues and the such :steppy:

I agree. A "Paranormal" forum is appropriate, but it should have been called that. But Just Pagan? I mean, the whole community is Pagan. As for things that don't seem to fit anywhere, Mol says in that explanatory thread that Just Talk is the forum for miscellaneous, general talk. Is MW changing so much and becoming so something else that a Just Pagan section is needed? I mean, a special part for Pagans in a Pagan community? I don't know.
In any case, it's here so I might as well dive in. woooo <dives in>

I agree with Ravens Tears and Pandoras....Paranormal belongs in a catagory all it's own. Maybe it can be called Paranormal (ghosts, spritis, hauntings, etc.) and Speculation (cryptozoology, UFO's, atlantis, etc.) This can also include Urban Legends.
But a Just Pagan Forum in a Pagan Online Community doesn't make sense.

i do see the point in a just pagan forum. yes a lot of the people here are pagan, but that doesnt mean that we always want to talk about paganism. sometimes people want to talk about other things and this is a place for people to talk about what they think of paganism and ask questions and stuff, without it being buried under other threads that are about completely different things. that doesnt mean that you cant talk about paganism anywhere else on this site, but it does mean that if you want to ask a question relating to pagnism then you know where to post it so that it gets the right attention from the right people.

Bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch. Next you'll want cookies and monogrammed towels or something.
The community itself is Pagan. More than half of the forums are not related to religion at all -- like Political Pagan, Music, Books, Family & Parenting, etc. Just Talk is the general forum, and now that we have 12,000 members, it fills up really quickly. So now we have two general forums -- one for pagan-related general questions that don't fit in "New Pagans" or "Theology & Philosophy" or anywhere else, and one for non-pagan-related general questions. Is that really that hard to comprehend?

Maybe you missed the part where I dove in with a woo hoo.
Since I'm not accustomed to taking abuse and at the risk of being banned forever....
I understand your point, but your response was insulting and inappropriate. It's a good thing that you are a site administrator because nobody else could get away with a post like that.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but I won't apologize for what I said. I thought it was acceptable to question, disagree, and even voice dissent so long as it is done respectfully. With some 12,000+ members, I expect to step on some toes. I can't please everyone and people are bound to disagree. But I never expected to get a response like this. I certainly wouldn't give a response such as this.
And what's wrong with cookies and monogrammed towels? I happen to enjoy both.

Maybe a little, Ben, but I think you have an excellent point. Mol is just trying to help make figuring out where to post things easier, and to keep Just Talk from being so cluttered. A number of threads get passed over completely because Just Talk is so busy--he's trying to prevent that. I personally think he's doing a great job in looking after his site and the requests of his site's members--he doesn't deserve to have his every little move questioned, which is what it rather seems like some of you are doing.
And another point--yes, it's a Pagan community. But what the everliving hell does it matter if there's a "Just Pagan" forum on a Pagan community? This is a community. That would, by the very nature of an online community, indicate there's more going on than just discussions of Paganism. Mol is simply trying to make organization easier. So...go Mol!

And I get double-admin attacked by sharing an experience with a very hateful feminist. Or telling people that I don't understand their path...

Look, I'm just as bound by the community rules as anyone here. If you've got a problem with my post, report it.

I admitted it was over the top, but was it really that bad? I mean, just to clarify, I was using "bitch" as a verb, not a noun.
I just don't understand why it's such a big deal if there's one more subforum. The reason I reacted the way I did was that mol & Semele bust their asses (and pay no small amount of money) to keep this forum operational, for OUR benefit - and it gets on my nerves when I see people complain about the way they do things.

There is nothing wrong with what Ben said. There is nothing wrong with what you said in your first post either even though it pissed me off greatly. Just because it pisses you off, you see, doesnt mean that it is against our rules.
And dammit. People dont get banned for speaking there minds here. I am tired of this shit. I am tired of people making comments about being banned forever when it takes FOREVER for someone TO BE BANNED here. If you follow the rules...you dont get banned. So, get off your high horse, low horse, or any other horse you happen to be on...because it needs a rest.
And now, at your request...I will close this thread.
And Ater: QUit your bitching, too. God. :sunny:
