I've recently begun using affirmations after reading the book "Creative Visulaization" by Shakti Gawain. I have been recording affirmations, burning them to CD, and playing them throughout the night while I sleep. Is this a good way to use affirmations? I fgiured my subconscious would act on them as I consciously sleep. Also, can anyone share any methods or affirmations that they have found particularly effective?

That is a good idea.
I've been using positive affirmations for a few months now,even made myself some cards which i use daily.I bought a book by Louise L.Hay which changed my thinking.
I just repeat affirmations during the day and i've got to admit my thoughts have begun to change..even though i was a sceptic to begin with.

I usually say them while I'm walking to work each day. It's about a 25 min walk and the rhythm of the walking helps. Plus, it makes the "commute" go faster.

I have both of those books, but have never really put them to use. Guess I am a skeptic. Listening to them at night sounds like a very good idea. I think I will pull these out, and give them a go. Shakti Gawain's book is very interesting, and I have been wondering if it could really all be true to create such big changes with it. Keep us posted.

i've read gawain's book too. your method is agood one. i also incorporate affirmations into my drumming (tribal) and meditation.

thats a great idea for while you sleep!
affirmations come easily throughout the day for me now.
the main thing is to remember to keep them possitive, not ~ " i wont do ....,"etc.
incorporating colour is great for a visualisation/affirmations. vision a lake in the colour that s linked with the affirmation, like blue for peace, or general healing. Or gold for energy, strength, and vitality etc. dive into the coloured lake and let it flow all around you and feel it.
or see the colour around you like a bubble, breathe the colour into your whole body and feel it ciculate within every part of you down to every atom. saturate your entire being. and say aloud or within, the affirmation.
you will need a good understanding of colour of course. crystals can be used to aid focus if needed, and they also impart the energy needed for the affirmation!
keep the affrimation simple too. "today IS a good day"=(gold/yellow or green), "my life IS abundant"=(green), "my body IS a healing machine"=(blue), "i AM whole and conected to all that is"=(rainbow, violet or white) "my heart IS open to receive and express love"=(pink or green) "i AM confident in all i do"=(yellow)="i AM aware and focused. etc. these can be adapted of course, and made a little more detailed if need be.
this is just a small example.

I've done a couple. Can't remember them off the top of my head.
They do get me through the day.. some are negative. I find it gives me a kick in the butt to do things sometimes. :smoochypo
