View Full Version : Rekindling the Spark

Recently my life became alot more hectic than it has been: I moved back to school, am working on school projects, and am working on the weekends. Now, whenever I feel the need to have a ritual or simply PRAY, I'm too burnt out. I think 'Well, I could have a ritual...OR I could get an extra half-hour of sleep'.
Now don't get me wrong- I am perfectly comfortable within my religious system and don't feel that I have either moved on or drifted from my path. I'm just too worn out to do the things that I WANT and NEED to do.
So, do you, Ooh great MW'ers, have any suggestions for 'rekindling' that ritual spark? How could I put life, energy, and power back into that aspect of my practice?
Thanks!

Reconnecting with Nature always helps me... even if it's something as small as sitting on the ground in my yard.
Hope this helps. :huddle:

Do little rituals all through the day. Take a moment to thank your food before you eat it and acknowledge all the life and energy that went into it just for you. Maybe set a little bit aside from every meal to offer to your ancestors. Anything can be done with ritualistic intent. Household chores. I use dishwashing and vacuuming as meditative activites. Showering/ bathing can be ritualistic, cleansing yourself spiritually as you do it physically. The first drink of water/coffee/juice/whatever of the day can be made into a ritual. You don't have to make time for any of these rituals becuase you have to do all these things anyway. But you can turn these occupied chunks of time into ritual time by creating these little rituals. This technique keeps you close to a "magical" life while still being able to maintain a "mundane" life. Then when you have time for bigger rituals you're already on and ready to go. It works.

Sounds good, I try to work little rituals into rising, going out of the door, and going to bed and also when cooking supper.
Maybe some other things can be fitted in also.
I'll give it a go

As others already mentioned you can integrate your spirituality into everyday life with only a few small adjustments. Even just being more aware of what's going on around you can be a meditative exercise. I personally find it very easy to pray/do affirmations, etc in transit to various places. If you take a look at your day, I'm sure you'll see more opportunities to add spirituality. Everyone has already given awesome suggestions.
I recently posted a short morning ritual on the Magic & Rituals forum. It's quick and easy but also effective. You can check it out here (http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=69165).

Ooh, thank you all!
I took your advice (along with rereading parts of "The Circle Within") and can already see my ritual life perking back up.
One thing that did help was that over the weekend I got a God statue! It's a lifesized male mannequin's torso that looks exactly like a greek statue ^_^. I was so energized when I got it that I ran home and quickly did a powerful clensing ritual over it.
Now I've got both my ritual drive back and an icon- I think things are picking up!
