Karma giving

I wanted to see what everyone else's policies on giving and taking karma were.

Me personally, I give karma when someone needs a lift, makes a good point, says something really nice, or makes me laugh. It feels good to spread karma around.

I only give bad karma when someone is being extremely rude, mean, or unfair. I do not give someone bad karma for expressing their opinions, no matter how much I might dissagree with them.

I have been givin bad karma twice. I shall of course leave their names out of it, it wouldn't be right to tell. One person gave me bad karma for expressing my belief that you cannot be a Christian and a Witch at the same time. Another gave me bad karma for my "Thank You" thread where I used the raspberry smile to stick my tounge out at the first. His exact words were "Quit yer &itchin'". I was not bitching. I was only expressing my displeasure at someone taking away my karma over my viewpoint.

I read a few minutes ago about someone handing out bad karma for people expressing their opinions and I thought this was wrong. So I figured I'd ask all you guys's opinions and policies on giving and taking karma.

Well i give Karma for basically the same reasons that you do ...

as far as taking Karma well i dont think it is my place to take unless i expect it to be taken from me ... sometimes i will give karma to those folks with a message hoping they reach a better frame of mind.

I've never given bad karma.

I give good karma when someone says something or does something really nice for me, when they've posted something I feel is genuinely sincere, helpful, and well thought out, when they make me laugh loud enough to make my room-mate question my sanity, or if they need a lift.

I give karma out at random. If I see something especially funny, or thought provoking, i will poke somebody. other than that, its random. I have only given bad karma once, and that was to a spammer. I don't give out bad karma because everybody has their right to express their opinions, and besides, giving bad karma takes away from you, too.

I was brought up with a policy of - if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. I have never given red karma, I just don't take the whole system that seriously, an opinion is just that. I fully expect not to agree with everybody here, different doesn't equal wrong whether I like it or not. I don't agree with insulting people though. If I don't like what someone has said I tend not to post or very very occasionally I will make a comment, but never nastily. As for giving green Karma, it tends to be if someone says something nice, funny, needs a lift etc.

If someone ever decides to take karma from me then :whatgives whatever. I'm really not going to lose any sleep over it. It's numbers on board that at the end of the day mean little if anything at all.

I give karma to people who make me laugh/smile or just brighten my day in general. I concur with *Rain* and won't give red karma...

That's pretty much when and why I give karma to others as well

Pretty basic stuff...whenever anyone says something I particularly like or makes a good point, I karma them up. I haven't found reason to give out red karma, which is nice, but if someone said something horrible (obviously, bashing someone else/their ideas, not expressing their own) I would do it.

I too was raised with the if you can't say something nice then say nothing at all. So I give karma out randomly just to give someone a lift and I have jumped on the karma trains every chance I get.

But I have never taken karma. I feel that it is not my place to. Others have the same right to their veiws as I do mine.

I give karma for the same reasons..There are certain people I agree with a lot or make me laugh so sometimes I feel like they must think I'm stalking them with karma...sometimes I just can't resist, there are a few really funny people here.

I give karma for someone who has low karma and add a little note to let them know that they are being "heard" on the boards. :smile:

I give karma less than I should, as I actually hardly think of it. I'll give it if given, and if someone's being nice or if I like what they have to say.

I've yet to give bad karma, but it's an option I'm open to. I have, many times, clicked on it but never had the heart (or lack thereof) to follow through, no matter what a jackass the other person was being.

I give out green karma when I feel like it. I don't have to have a reason, sometimes I just feel like picking someone out of the blue and giving them green karma. (There are a few people, who I have reasons to give to.)

When I give out red karma, it's usually because someone's completely disregarding community rules, or being an outright jackass. I do owe someone red karma as a joke, still, though. :2G:

It's all a number to me. Hit me up with red karma - I brag about it. *shrugs* I really...don't care.
