I was reading a regression thread here on MW, and thought it would be SO interesting to find out who YOU were in a past life and how you found out!
I found out mine through dreams and visions, a few years ago:
1) circa 1850ad - a little girl called Mary in the North of England, who died when a mine shaft beneath the ground she was standing on collapsed. She was 8/9 when she died.
2) circa 6000ad - a man in scotland, who met a roaming "scandinavian"(?) army on the moors. Other than that, all I know was that he had a son, and he felt guilty for having left him with his mother. Lived til 25.
3) circa 6-700ad - a girl somewhere in southeast asia; all I remember is some sort of ruinous temple and half of a giant buddha head, and soldiers of some sort. Lived til about 19.
And that's it, discluding my current incarnation of course

i dont know too many details regarding my past life, and i really should start working on that  The following I know through momentary visions & bits & pieces of dreams.
what i do know is that at one point i was burned, it was definitly during the middle ages, but i dont know if its because of the inquisition/witch hunts deal, or just a freak accident... But knowing my soul & my personality - i probably pissed off a few Church officials... _firedevil I dont know how old I was but I was fairly tall so I'm assuming I was an adult, definitly a woman.
a second one goes way back, actually to Judea in the time of the Roman rule (surprise surprise). I just remember various scenery of the area (kinda cool seeing stuff back then as opposed to today since i live in Israel).. I was a woman in my late 20s - early 30s.
A third one is a vision that i get repeatedly, and this is standing in the middle of Stonehenge with other women & praying. Again, I'm an adult woman (probably around my early 40s), their leader. We are all dressed in Celtic traditional wear. Its night and very cool out.
I wish I had more details.. I probably should work on it more as well as consult my Tarot cards. I probably will eventually, maybe tonight.. hmp.. macha you just gave me some motivation!

I don't know why but I have never been interested in finding out about my past lives. I guess I have enough on my plate with this incarnation. *sigh*

I've never had any real interest in finding out about past lives. A passing curiosity, sure... but nothing concrete enough to inspire me to go find out (yet).
The closest I've had to a remembrance (if it was one at all) was a dream I had several times as a teenager. In it, it was early evening and the sun was just about to set. I had the impression it was cold. In a clearing, there was a fire -- bigger than a camping fire, smaller than a bonfire. Lots of conifers; I don't think there were any deciduous trees, or if there were, there were very few.
I was with a group of men (I don't know if I was male or female, but considering I was eye-to-eye with the others, I'm guessing I was a man in this dream). There was a sort of somber feeling in this dream, and we were serious and focused, but excited. We were all carrying or wearing deer skins and antlers (Or elk? The antlers didn't quite look like deer antlers). Finally we lined up and began to head towards the fire. To do what? Not a clue... I woke up then.
So, past life remembrance or freaky dream? Who knows. ;)

I've always been interested in finding out my past life's, but I've never known where to start on that particular journey. And I can't say I've had any dreams that may be related to that sort of thing.

Who were YOU in a past life?
This is from a dream I had a few years ago - I hadn't asked for it, it just happened. It impacted me so much that I can still remember a lot of the little details.
I believe at one time, I was a Beltaine maiden. It was a small village, and everyone was celebrating, I could see there were some kids running with ribbons around a maypole, bonfires were burning. I was having fun with them (I don't think I was out of my teens - maybe even 14-16 yrs). I remember that I had mid-length wavy brown hair, and hazel eyes. Not sure how I know that, because I didn't look in a mirror, but I know it.
A group of older women came and pulled me aside to an empty tent/cottage and started 'dressing me up'. I remember that I was scared, I didn't really know what was going on, but I did realize that I had been chosen to be the representation of the Goddess for the fertility ritual. Scary stuff! I had no clue what to expect. They were putting paint on my face, fixing up my hair, and finally put a wreath of flowers on my head. They then, ceremoniously, walked me through the rest of the celebration - I kept trying to keep my head down because I was nervous, but one of the other women told me not to be afraid and to be happy about being chosen.
They took me off to a clearing to wait for the representation of the God, so I sat and waited nervously... I remember that he walked into the clearing, but I didn't get a good look at him. After he walked in, I knew everything was ok. There was a calming presence in the area.
Then I woke up.
Beltaine has always been my favorite holiday, and this dream just reinforced why.

I haven't had any dreams about past lives, or if i have, i don't remember them well enough but i've been told by an amazing Tarot reader that i was a sailor from Europe and my last name was Aramendia, I was a healing woman, before the burning times, I was a shaman who had a gift for working with fire and a pharmacist from the 1800s in England. She said my soul was very old. Hm. I'm not complaning ^^

Well I've had several experiences that have seemed to be past lives:
The first two were lives remembered from the method I posted in the Paranormal bit. The first I was in York, at the tail end of the Viking period. My name was Amelia (or something like it), I think, and I was a typical gal in those times, with blonde hair living with my family...that's pretty much it, fairly mundane. I lived, married, had kids.
The second I was in the desert - the Sahara I think, but definitely Arabic. I was a young boy (it was difficult to tell at first). I seemed to be different to everyone else...somehow wrong, somehow distant and removed. I think I might have been braindamaged or autistic. I saw one occasion when I was allowed to sit with the men at a wedding, and I was chuffed because ordinarily I wasn't allowed to do that kind of thing. I remember I sat quietly, so no one would notice me. Then I jumped forwards a bit. I was taking camels across the desert and got caught in a storm, and was buried alive by the sand.
Then I dreamt, one time, that I was in a kind of love triangle in Elizabethan times. I thought at the time that it might be a past life, because it didn't seem like a normal dream. But I have to say in all regressions, while I was taught that "we see what we need to see at the time in our past lives" (so we can learn a lesson that needs learning), I think that a lot can be explained psychologically...
The problem for me is, past life regressions are so subjective it's difficult to tell what might be a past live, and what might be your brain "filling in the gaps".
I was always told that things that happen to us again and again (especially bad things) are lessons we haven't yet learned. I think now that this explanation is a bit too easy somehow....

Wish I knew!
What I've felt and dreamed (several incarnations of a nomadic, tent-living, horse-riding life in the Middle-East/Persia, and simple village life Southern Europe/Mediterranean) starkly contrasts what I was told were my last two past lives: upper class noble woman giving garden parties at my estate in England; impoverished tow-headed boy during the Great Depression.

I have two possibilities for past lives...
1. While at the local RenFest this year I bought a costume and felt like I must have been a shepherdess cause when I went to the petting zoo part I really wanted to take the sheepies around. I also spin and knit and do other fiber art.
2. I think I was on the "wrong" side in WWII. I don't know exactly what but I feel like I must have been at least nominally a Nazi...Don't get me wrong, I'm not a nasty person but I've had a longtime fascination with Hitler and wish I could have met him.
Nothing to back these up...just my general feelings...

IMO the nazis weren't 'evil', just mislead, but that's another story ;)

I want to karma-poke everyone who's answered, but it wont let me yet
You guys all have such interesting past lifes!
Seren, why do you think that explanation is a bit too easy?
I'm a young soul - this is number 4 - and all my lives were ended in tradgedy. I'm going to try and get this one to break the cycle

I'm still not sure about the whole past lives things. I would prefer to explore more before giving a definite verdict. That being said, if I had a past life/lives, I know I was smothered in some way in at least one of them. I have this irrational fear of tight things around my neck and not being able to breathe.
I'm definitely going to be exploring the topic more.

Well, I think there are any number of reasons to explain why bad things keep happening to people...It's a bit too easy, for me, to assume a magical/spiritual explanation - whether it be karma, or learning a lesson. If we look hard enough we could probably find a good few psychological reasons to explain why bad things keep happening to someone, a lot of the time. Or the simple fact that at the end of the day, shit happens. Lightning can strike twice?
I don't discount the idea out of hand...I'm just a natural sceptic :D
Actually, I remembered another past-life I'm supposed to have had...I was once told by someone, that I'd been a very bad person in a former life (on a mass-murdering- black-magic-cross-between Aleister Crowley and Jack the Ripper scale). This person had "seen it", and as part of my atonement in this life, I would not be able to continue on my path of initiation until I had "learnt the lesson." I was warned that if I did continue, I'd likely end up facing a lynch mob! Well, apart from considering myself to have no homicidal tendencies or any interest in black magic....there's not a lot I could say to that :wtf:

I've actually got a brief reading done via one of my mom's readings.
Evidently, I lived during the Roman Times, as a playwright (very similar to what I am now) and I was caught in a fire and burned alive. Something with fire. I think I must have lived during Emperor Nero's time.
I also have a hunch I was something in Egypt during Hatchetpsut's rule. I have an odd, never ending fasincation with her.

I am pretty sure I've had past lives and I am almost positive that when you meet someone for the first time and feel like you've known them for years, you probably met them in another life. Why? So glad you asked. :tongueout
I had my cards and palm read about five years ago in New Orleans. My main question (which was not given until she was finished reading) was in regards to a man that I had heavy feelings for. Yeah, I know lame but I was confused as to what to do. The first thing the woman told me when she looked at my hand was that I was an old soul, that I'd had many lives. When she got into the meat and potatos of the reading, she said that the man I was thinking of was also an old soul. We were familiar with one another, our souls were intimate with one another, even if we had never been actually intimate. She said most likely we'd known one another in another life or two.
I found this interesting since he was one of those people that I have met who seemed to be a lost friend from another time in my life, though I'd never met him before.
I've had several dreams that I believe were glimpses of past lives. In at least three, this person was in them. I've only recollected one as a man, and I was a craftsman...worked with leather, or iron, perhaps?
I remember one of them being in battle. I was definitely female, perhaps a priestess, or something, on horseback. The man who remained at my side was the same man I had the reading about. It was obviously cold, because of the furs, perhaps Nordic or Germanic. A friend suggested I was a human embodiment of a Valkyrie and he was perhaps a body guard.
Another was as (snerk) a tavern wench. Might explain my life in serving the public, whether it was in food or retail. :ahhhh: He was one of the customers, a local farmer. Funny, since he actually IS a farmer.
The one that stands out most, though are the constant dreams I had of being burned at the stake. For nearly a month, I had the same dream over and over. Again he was present. He was one of the priests who reluctantly led me to the pyre.
There are others, and all but the tavern wench were before I ever met him, although the battle one has shown up once or twice since.
If they are past lives, I have no idea. I've seen familiar faces/souls in some of these dreams who are now people close to me, or someone I've met before. So I don't count out the idea that it is possible.
I'm babbling... :bigredblu

I have no proof of past lives... though, I have beliefs of what has happened to me in my previous lives.
One of them likely involved a boating accident, and a possible drowning. Drowning has probably occured in a life, possibly unable to surface after falling into the water, being stuck under a sheet of ice.
Another involves being trapped in a three story home. It was likely early in the morning and I was still in my bed clothes. I think I must have jumped out the window... the landing wasn't all to great, I was laying in a heap of white and blond (white bed clothes, blond hair) on the grass below.
I'm also of the belief that one of my current aquaintances I knew, rather well, in a previous life... from the day we met there was a connection between us. I think he was a protector, not like a body guard, but just someone who wanted to keep me safe. Perhaps we met and had a blossoming relationship, but my life was cut short, as it constantly seems it was.
At any rate, this is all just speculation, I don't know and have no way to find out.

Regressive hypnotherapy... I didn't get specific dates... but I can guess....
circa 400 (give or take a few centuries) celt... not sure where. Wife. Not a mother at the time that I saw.
circa 16th century, minor nobility, married, not a great husband, but not the worst, few children, was in labour.
That's all that I know of... I'm sure there's more though.

Macha, I was in Northern England around the same time as you! My name was Julia O'Connor (so there was some Irish connection there, I guess) and I lived till adulthood. Married, one child. Very devote Christian in that life.
I believe that we remember those past lives (through hypnosis or otherwise) during which we learned something valuable that we ought to still remember. I remembered my life as Julia during a time in my (present) life when I was feeling particularly angry and revengeful toward certain people. As Julia I had learned tolerance and forgiveness. I needed to be reminded of those qualities I had once achieved.

I don't have clear memories or dreams about past lives just a strange feeling
every now and then.
I think my soul is very old and has been through a lot of
really difficult and painful stuff, but there must have been some pretty wonderful
lives as well because my soul doesn't feel heavy or tired. Old and wise maybe, but
still kicking a** :yayhawaii
I also have unexplained strong connections with certain places, some good
like in Ireland, Israel and Italy, and some not so good particularly in Germany. I don't know why I feel these things I just know that they go very deep.
I wish I knew more and I know how I could find out, but something keeps telling me
to wait. I think it scares me a little.
Bright Blessings

Ah well, the last few months have been a real "hoot" with past life memories--I've been a mother with three children leaving in Britain during the Roman occupation, a cat in one of Bast's temples in Egypt, a warrior in 10th century Britain, a sea captain, an outlaw, a brothel owner, a resistance fighter in France during WWII. Apparently, I did have a real talent for "ticking" off powerful people too. I've been hung a couple of times, and burned at the stake in Glasgow in the 16th century. I've definitely lived as both a woman and a man...and must say I spent more than a one lifetime in leathers, mail, and on horseback.

Some past lives, I wish I couldn't remember. The most recent incarnation before this one, I was a soldier in Nazi Germany; rather young at time of death, no more than 19 or 20... killed by my superior for refusing to run a Jew through with my bayonet.
Then there was the Salem witch trials... *gulps, preparing to be tarred and feathered at the VERY least* Would that I could undo what I did there, as Hathorne. (NOT a lifetime I'm proud of). Odd, that I'm a Witch now....
Last one I'll mention here (though there are others) is during the Revolutionary War; this is one that I shared with my ex-fiancé (to any peer counselors reading this, would you mind PM'ing me? Have a little something I would like to talk about, but do not want to get into detail). My name was Martha Williamson, and I lived in Annapolis, MD. When my husband had to go fight in the war, I remember our little son, John, asking why people had to kill, if killing was against the Ten Commandments. Now, how does one answer that? :wah:
There are other past lives I remember, but dare not voice here. Blessings to all....
