Excuse me but I've never heard of "attachment parents" before could someone please clarify. :)

OOPS I forgot my manners.

Welcome and merry meet! :D

I'm a SAHM, as my name implies, but I do not home school, I'm not cut out for it :) I have an 8 yr old daughter and a 14 mo old son. Me and my husband have been actively seeking for less than a year. We would love to hear any pagan parenting tips you have :D

MM rafikigypsywolf. I just joined and saw your post. I am a sahm, and homeschool my girls. They are 2 and 4. We live in Wisconsin in the GreenBay area. Not sure where you are located, but would still love to talk. I know there are others around here that homeschool, but I have never met them.

To GypsyWolf and ladyalpha.

Hi! I am a SAHM to a 5 yo and and almost 3 yo (less than a month away, yikes!) . I don't homeschool or AP but would love to hear of any parenting tips you have for a Pagan family.

SAHM, very simplified, AP is aparenting techniques that Dr. Sears advocates. It involves a very hands on approach, wearing your baby, nursing, co sleeping. I tried it with my son and like homeschooling, I was not cut out for it. But I give much credit to those who do! And GypsyWolf, please forgive and correct me if I got any of that wrong.

Thank you for the welcome. Isn't it amazing how fast they grow up? lol My 2 year old will be 3 in October. Thank you for the definition of an AP parent. I didn't know what that was either. My 4 year old loved to sleep with us when she was a baby. My 2 year old, hated it and would cry. I don't blame her, I like my own bed too. lol
One of the things my husband and I do with our girls is show them and explain nature and animals. Even if it is only nature in our backyard. We all love to go out to the woods, and there we have been able to show them trees that have fallen down and are decomposing. We used that as a way of explaining the wheel of life to them. It was easier because they could see it and see how it helped others around it. Sometimes we get strange looks because I show them everything, and they know not to hurt the plants and animals. But, it helps them when it comes to interacting with others. They learn respect for everything, and learn that everything and everyone has a purpose here, and it isn't to be hurt by others. They do backslide sometimes, especially when they see another child doing it. But at their age I expect it. But, we go over it again, in terms they understand and it gets easier. I can tell them before we go somewhere that a lot of kids will be, that they need to think for themselves and not hurt the trees and animals. And, that little reminder helps them.
Well, I will stop now, before I write a book. :)
Merry Part,
ladyalpha

Thanks chryssi1 for the explaination. I did/do that with my son because he chose it. I had to put him in the crib tough, he kept kicking us in the bed. He still sleeps in our room for now. My daughter slept better without us and is more independent, always had been. Its really shown me the difference between kids and how you have to let them lead and show you what they need.

I'm not a parent yet, but will be a SAHM when I get around to it :) I currently watch two little hampsters ;) However, I am in WI (near the Wisc. Dells). Where are you? If you are near Sauk County there is a mailing list that I run that you may be interested in to meet other like-minded people.

And welcome....
I was a SAHM when my children were little, and my closest friend in the world has been doing attachment parenting since her daughter was born six years ago... and I am happy to say that both of her daughters are two of the happiest most stable and well behaved children I have had the pleasure to know and love. She breastfed long past the time which some people consider socially acceptable but based her nursing on what the child expressed as a need not what society or anyone else said....I know some of what she experienced, because I breast fed mine beginning way back in 1965, when people called you a slut and other things for suckling your own child . I will never understand people's repugnance to the sight of a mother nursing her child , what could be more natural and beautiful?
My daughter breast fed her children as well and adopted some of the pracices of attachment parenting even after she had to return to work, and my grandchildren are really happy children , well adjusted and loving . My grandaughter recently fell and broke both her wrists...OWTCHIES pooor babe and she is handling it like a little trooper, and healing beautifully.
One of the Myths of the Goddess is that the MILKY WAY recieved its name because it is milk from the Breast of the Goddess :> I am so glad that pagans see things differently :>, and happy to see that attachment parenting is becoming more popular and being given more validity :>.
