Devil-worship teens jump off a bridge.
BERLIN -- The suicides of three teenagers who leapt together to
their death from a bridge, their bodies daubed with pentangle
symbols, have increased concern among officials in Germany
about the spread of devil-worship among disaffected, often
unemployed, young people.
Kurt Biedenkopf, premier of the state of Saxony, where the
teens died on the weekend, said there have been 15 occult-
linked suicides in eastern Germany in less than two years.
The boys have been identified only by their first names -- Mike,
17, Michael, 14, and Rene, 18. One left a note at the base of the
78-metre high bridge, saying: "We are unhappy with this life and
seek a better one."
Dietmar Kipry, the public prosecutor, said: "They were known as
being involved in satanism. They went to parties in cemeteries
and listened to the music of the scene."
The investigation centres mostly on an occult group called
Blue Rose. Police and social workers say the cult has made
suicide glamorous among bored teenagers in small towns.

UGHHHHHHHH. And of course the media and the police in their town just ASSUME it was because of their religios practices. There couldnt' POSSIBLY have been other motivating causes!!!!!! This sort of thing SOOO peeves me off.

As I've heard it(I could be wrong), Satanists see life as "the great indulgence" or something...something to be valued and enjoyed. The suicide of a satanist would probably have little to do with thier religion, so why do people insist on blaming it?!? grrr...

What is the "music of the scene" of Satanism? I know a Satanist who listens to the same music I do. Does that mean I'm a satanist? No, of course not. How about all of the hundreds of Christian kids (heck, even adults) who commit suicide? We don't blame Christianity for that, do we? I'm sick of religion getting the blame for all the bad stuff that happens. The note didn't say, "I'm killing myself so I can go to hell and live with Satan." it said, "We are unhappy with this life and seek a better one." It had nothing to do with their religion. I've known quite a few people who have commited suicide, and ALL of them were Christians. I don't blame Christianity. I don't say, "god made them do it!" They had problems, deep seeded problems and it's a shame people think suicide is the only way out of their problems, but it happens, all the time. People need to start looking at the person who commited suicide, look at where their problems stemmed from, not blame the religion.

Well they DID paint pentacles on themselves. Hm. That might be a clue to their motivation. YA THINK????
But the article didn't say whether they were inverted or not...

That sucks that the media does that...it happens all the time too.
This is OT, but this reminds me of when a kid died at the AZ Boys Ranch when my dad worked there (when it was still up and running). He died of a heart attack because the nurse thought he was just trying to get out of his pushups or something silly and the media totally gave the Boys Ranch a horrible name. The channel 4 news crew filmed the barbed wire fences (which were for the cattle around the place) and claimed it was to keep kids from a-woling (even though I could jump over it). And then they showed the gates and made it seem evil and it was a huge mess. So they closed the place down, causing numerous people to be out of a job...bad bad media.
ANYWHO, Back On Topic...
I think it's sad that there are many many many people out there who would believe what the tabloids said simply because they do not see that the media tends to exaggerate...and that they are confused about this religion. But what does this do in the end? Creates a bad name for this religion...
Closeminded-ness (even a word?) seems like it will never have an end. And it saddens me to think of it...
