Tomorrow morning (10/14), my husband and I will be putting our first bid (ever) on our first possible home. Please take just a few moments to think/ direct positive thoughts our way; this home is just right for us (unless the home inspector says otherwise--at which point I'll :wah: ). As of late, homes in the west Chicago burbs have scooped up in as little as three days; and at six days on the market, we feel that we'll likely be down to the wire, bidding against several other people for this home.

Thank you very, very much for your help.

I'm sneaking you into my own house ritual tonight. (We're desperately trying to figure out how to close on our house too.)

Although I quote you, Sinead, I'm writing to everyone who responded to my original post. I think that you're positive energy worked; our bid was accepted the same day (no counter-bid necessary). At this point, we just need to schedule an appointment with our home inspector. And if we make it beyond that point, I fully believe that all will go way the day that we sign the official paperwork.

This being my first house, though...well, I'm scared out of my livin' mind. I have the "What If's" running through my head (What if we can't really afford it? What if we lose this deal? What if it's all too good to be true? What if we find out these people sold due to the neighbors from hell? Etc.)

I'm trying to remain positive, trying to dispel the negatives in my head. So far, we're doing better off than my worrisome mind is trying to lead me to believe. :)
