Ok first let me tell you all that her, yes it is a her, and yes her name is Mr. Fishfish, will probly' die b/f morning. And I KNOW it is my fault...
I noticed that she was kinda floaty the last week or so, and I kept putting off medicating her water... I put it off for so long that today she is having trouble even staying right side up, I know she will be dead soon... I medicated her water earlier today, but I know it is to late.
PLease, send something for her to go quickly and as painlessly as possible...

I know it is my fault she is dying, if I hadn't put it off.....
It is MY FAULT that she is going to die, and I can not stop crying. I love her so much, my heart is breaking so hard...
ANd I know that if I had she would be ok, but I had to wait untill it was to late..
OMG, I have to go now, I can't type or see the keyboard anymore.
Thank you in advance..

Is this a goldfish? If its been floating on it's side or back right at the surface of the water or swimming at an odd angle it could be swimbladder disorder. It's a hard condition to treat and goldfish are especially prone to it. I don't think being late in medicating the tank has hurt your fish. I know some people who medicate only every other day (as long as the water isn't changed the medication is still in there. Really it sounds like there is nothing you can do, don't blame yourself.
Sorry about your fishy

No she is a BETA fish.
She is still alive, but barely. I want to flush her, so I don't have to watch her go through this, but I KNOW that would not be right. I will let her go, and burry her in the yrad somewhere nice. :)

Okay, a couple of things. First of all, bettas do not live for an overwhelmingly long time. You will be lucky to keep one alive past three years, and for the most part, they are around a year old before they get to the pet store. Second of all, while they are tough little fish, for some reason, almost all the bettas you get in a pet store tend to have more problems than the average fish. And, it seems that females are far harder keepers than males.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that you probably could not have saved Mr. FishyFish even had you medicated at the very first symptoms. In all my experiences with fish (and I have quite a bit, though I'm not really an expert yet), there are some that you just can't save, no matter what you do. I think this is one of those cases.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know that a lot of people think that a fish isn't like a cat or a dog, but they are special too, in their way, and it's hard to lose them. Mr. FishyFish is now swimming in a wonderful pool of perfect water under the rainbow bridge.

:hugz: It is so hard to lose a beloved pet. I had to help my step daughter this weekend when she found out one of her fish that we keep died. She is only eight and I have to say I ended up crying with her as I explained things to her. My beloved Mahjii, a beautiful red and blue Beta, is looking a little peaked himself. I've had him for a little over three years now so I know I have been lucky. But I know it is going to hurt when it comes time to say goodbye. Don't be too hard on yourself about this. You loved him well and gave him a good life.

Ya know, I know that Bettas general don't make it past three years or so, but I did have one that made it almost five. I was breeding them at the time (a beautiful albino male, and a white female), and I wound up keeping several babies. This one was pretty special, he was white, and had purple tipped fins (I wish I had a pic left, but alas, they were lost). He died almost five years to the day after he was hatched.

Of course, he was extra spoiled too, had a 20 gallon tank to himself, a couple females to occupy him, a great filter and the perfect view <giggle>. He ate all kinds of foods, and was a heckuva swimmer, right up to the end. No warning, he wsa just floating one morning.

I cried for days. I haven't even thought about breeding them since then. That was the one and only hatching I ever had. I never got them going any other time, just lucky that time I guess.
