I'm looking for a particular type of rune book and I was hoping maybe one of you might be able to help me. I've just got an engraving tool and i'm going to make rune sets for some of my friends, along with the set I wanted to give them a book about runes but I was thinking more like one of those little pocket guide type books. The tend to be square, about 3"x3". Have any of you come across one like that? I've been looking at online book shops but to no avail. I just want something really simple, just to spark a passing interest, to go with the runes.

I can't quite remember the author's name (I believe the last name is Paul) but there is a wonderful translation of the "Rune Poem" he did. It usually is a literature book rather than in with the divinations, but I would highly recomend it to anyone.

Why not make your own interpretation sheet... nothing elaborate, just the symbols with a brief interp of each one (could even be as brief as one word)... if you're giving these as gifts, it just makes it that much more 'personal'...

Thanks Ember, that's certainly something I hadn't though of and a really different idea that i'll look into.
Rick, I thought about that, but wasn't happy with it. I'd like to make a small bag for the runes themselves, but to present them in a small wooden box with a personal message engraved inside. I just though one of those little books would fit in quite nicely and would perhaps look better than a piece of paper i'd written or done on the computer. It would be longer lasting and a bit more durable as well. I don't fancy hand writing my own rune book a few times over in a small notebook, although I might end up doing it if I get desperate.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Yes, I'm pretty sure I've seen one, but I can't remember for the life of me who made it.
Maybe collins?
You're in the UK, right? I saw it in the Waterstones in the Galleries in bristol; you could try n ring them and ask - they had a whole shelf of those little bitty books on a variety of subjects, in the mind-body-spirit section.

The Book of Runes is the best book by far. This page takes you to the tenth aniversery of the book, but just click on new and used and you can pick it up for like five bucks.

Thanks guys. Macha - I thought Waterstones might have one so i'll have to take a trip to Manchester next week. I've been in 3 other book shops today and no joy.

The Book of Runes is the best book by far.
Just have to point out that Blum isn't considered to be a particularlly good source by many rune-workers. His re-ordering of the runes breaks its pathworking application, and he gentles/fluffs/misrepresents the harsher runes. It is important to know that most other rune authors are going to disagree with much of what he says.
