Hi guys.
I've got a minor problem. . .I'm a bit concerned about it because I don't really understand.
Past few days or so I've been spotting. . . it's very light, not enough even for a panty liner, but it's odd because I havn't been doing anything abnormal and it's still a week until my period (I'm on the pill so there's no way it's early hehe).
I *have* been a bit stressed lately, physically and emotionally, since college just started up again. My sleep's been kinda erratic (working on it!). . . could this have anything to do with it?
Do people spot if they've gotten pregnant and are on the pill? :blushake: gods I hope not!! (no offence to those trying to get pregnant: this would just be a VERY VERY VERY bad time, you know?)
Any help would be appreciated,
~Puma Hime
P.S. if it's needed to know, I'm almost 17. . .umm. . . ^^; dono, if you need more, ask.

It can be stress, change in diet, change in hormones, it could be anything. Is this the first time anything like this has ever happened or is it a frequent occurence? The reason I asked that:
Years ago, I had been on the pill. I had been on the same pill for several years. One month, i was spotting slightly, then next it was worse. I went in to the doc, he had to change my pills. I had built up some sort of immunity to them and they were not working as well as they should be. Once I changed to the new pills, problem was gone. I am not a doc, that is just based on my experience, and may be a plausible answer so you don't go getting all worked up. :):):)
I have had really odd periods myself in the past. Sometimes there isn't any explanation.
If you are super concerend about it, go and see the doc.
Better to go and see him than stress yourself out any more than you need too.
Take care!! :):):):)

It could be that with your change of schedule you are not taking them at exactly the same time too. It depends on your metabolism, I believe. I had to take it *exactly* at the same time or I would end up spotting too. As in within 5-10 minutes each day. Daylight savings times destroyed me!
If it keeps happening, I'd call the dr and see what s/he thinks. A different pill might help.

Well..I'm not a doctor..but I know that stress effects your hormone levels. And that hormone levels can effect whether or not you "Spot". I would not worry about the "Spotting" unless there is cramping involved. You could always CALL you're doctor, and ask if it is a side effect of the Pill...that might help. And you might also be slightly anemic. I would suggest more Iron in your Diet. If you ARE slightly anemic, it could account for any feelings of stress, or extreme exhaustion too, if this is something you are feeling. Did you miss a day of your pill? Sometimes this can cause it. Have you been taking your Pill at the same time each day??? My doctor told me that that can effect it as well..if you aren't very..."Regular" with your pill (as in, like clockwork). I would call your doctor, ask if it could be a side effect from the pill. If it gets heavier, or if there is any cramping, or other symptoms, Call again, and make an appointment. Good luck hon.

Or had them come early because of stress.
Dont underestimate the effects of stress on a delicateley balanced system ..... call your doc
and see what they think , and keep an eye on it :>
and do what you can to relieve your stress.
Chamomile tea , Valerian and a small glass of wine before bedtime if you take alcohol ... are all gerat stress relievers :> not to mention hot baths ..... relaxation exercises ...... making love ...... what ever floats your boat

*huggles to everyone*
thanks all. . . hai, I think it may be from all the stress, and when I started classes I had to re-arrange when I took my pills (by a good 12 hours no less. . . earlier bedtimes and stuff suck LOL). It' snot bad, so if it gets worse I will definately call the DR. . . but I think it's ok now. . . Thanks a lot ^_^

Changing the times you take your pill can make a big difference. It is almost like missing them all together. You can become pregnant easier if you miss pills or alter the times greatly. They usually recommend when you have to change times that you use a backup method of birth control for a time. Same thing if you go on antibiotics. I would probably go ahead and take a pregnancy test just to be sure.

Imagine my surprise when an ex boyfriend told me his doctor told him that it's not unusual for a woman to be even 6 weeks late just due to stress, not due to being pregnant! This after I yelled at him for being so calm and him saying "well I'm just trying to help you stay calm so you might start!"... :)
Let us know what's up Puma! :)
