Have you ever been to one? clairvoyant/psychic/medium? What did you think? How much did you pay?

My mum goes every year and pays about £20. She tries out a different one each time based on recommendations fron family and friends and so far has been impressed by all. Luckily she's never been to a fake.

Cool Poll by the way! :D

I've never been to a professional psychic reader before. But, I've always been tempted to have one done. I think I'd only go if someone referred the person to me.

I didn't vote on it because I'm not planning on it, but won't rule it out if circumstances warrant.

I would like to..our city has a psychic fair each year, and I am always tempted..I would like to find someone who is recommended by someone else though..I have no idea how much it should cost . I would love to see John Edward -although I don't know for sure he's for real either. ..I want to hear from my mom or any other family member that has passed.

I actually didn't pay for it...it was done by my ex mother in laws live in companion..thats sounds strange when I say it hehehe. Actually he was an older gent who had spent some time in egypt studying magic and he did a lot oh healing work for people. What he did was read a candle for me...he brought it to me and asked me to think about my life while holding it then to light it place it on a plate and let burn down completely, so i did. Everything he said to me was right on the money..he told my ex hubby and I about a job that he would get and what color they would paint the building, he told me that I had lost or would lose my first pregnancy and I had then he told me I would have a son and even the month! All kinds of things...at the time I was unhappy and he told me that I cried a lot and he also told me exactly what it was I cried about I have to say it was truly amazing. Any work he ever did like this never had a set price..it was a donation thing...if you couldn't pay you had to say a prayer and if you could it was only to be what you could afford...all of the money he made went back into supplies and keeping his little office open for people to come and see him..

I never actually had a psychic reading outside of the internet or my family. Psychic powers run in my family.

I have been to a clairvoyant before, he wasn't the type for spiritual readings, more for guidance, but he was amazingly accurate. However, this time i wanted a spiritual reading, we've booked a spiritualist medium for the 24th Oct, she is a lady from Texas, and actually used to help the Texan police find missing bodies!!! She charges £20 ($36) per reading, and she rung us the other day saying shes doing a special offer, and for an extra £10 ($18) her husband will do us an aura photograph and she will read the aura for us, this usually costs £30 ($54) alone! So i'm very excited!! :)

I didn't vote because there was no option to accurately describe my experiences - I have had "professional" readings done twice and have had mixed results.

Once, I saw a palm reader in DC. She charged like $35 for about 10 minutes and totally sucked. She worked out of a rented space, a shop, and was very young and had this whole fake gypsy thing going even though she was white American.

Another time, a friend took me to see an old Cuban woman who worked out of her home. She charged me $10.50 for about half hour. She used Spanish cards, which look more like regular playing cards but act like a tarot, and she was dead on. Everything she said was right on.

The texan lady we are seeing travels to your home and the readings are about an hour long.. im pretty sure she will be genuine & accurate!

Yes I went to one lady once and she told me that I'd be litterally upside-down in the next week. I didn't understand that, but then that week I got piledrived to the floor (which for those who don't know is where you get turned upside down and slammed to the floor head first). I went into hospital for 3 days after that!

I paid $50 for a channelled reading with Ed at the Tremont Tearoom in Boston. I voted that I had a 'bad' experience, but really, it's just that he didn't say anything that immediately hit me as 'right on...' and he didn't exactly tell me what I wanted to hear. He told me that I needed to be moving around and experiencing the world, and that seemed pretty accurate at the time, but it could just as easily be something he took from my sun sign being Sagittarius. He talked about a move going on in the family (hasn't happened, and doesn't seem like it will). Alright, he did say one thing that really struck me. He said I've been going through 'moral changes' lately, but didn't quite know what that meant, and it's definitely something I've been experiencing. Still... I wasn't particularly impressed, and I thought, if he was really communicating with spirits, wouldn't they be able to tell him something more significant about me?

However... Just a few days ago, I was surprised to see Ed on television, making predictions about the Red Sox vs. Yankees American League Championship Series. This was after the Red Sox had lost the first two games. He predicted that the Yankees would experience what he calls a 'downfall' in game four and that's when the tides would shift in favour of the Red Sox. Well, the Red Sox lost the first three games, and went on to win the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh, which has never happened in baseball history... So, that was impressive, especially since the other prediction he made about the series (that the injured Schilling would pitch, and that good things are happening for him) was accurate.

I also paid $25 for a reading with a clairvoyant tarot reader, Raymond, at the same place. His prediction that love would come into my life between the 3-9th of October didn't happen, but in general he was extremely accurate. He was very specific about dates and even names of people in my life and he was quite impressive. I was very happy and will probably return to him for another reading.

My vote: Nope and prolly never will. I see my abilities to channel and "see" things as a gift. I use them to help others, and to understand the world around me better. They are gifts from the divine, and not something I wish to cheapen or use to gain notoriety or monetary gains. I could break out my tarot, give someone a very accurate reading, and charge 20 dollars for the reading... but then, I don't know if I would be able to live with myself for having used the things I have been blessed with as tools for financial gain. Maybe it is just me, but I think anyone who does it for money, or tries to use it to make themselves appear greater than the next person, is someone who is more into their own gain than in using their gift to help others. Just my 2cents.

The first time I went to a tarot card reader. He was okay, I paid $20.
He did past life for my SO and pretty much answered all of my questions.
The second time I went to a clairvoyant/clairaudient/clairsentient, I paid $100 and she taped the session it was over 3 hours long. It was worth it.

She told me that I was extremely protected and that I had certain what she called gifts that I needed to work on. Such as Clairvoyance and Healing.
She told me that I had to sing no matter what happened not to give that up.
Which I never listened to her. Oh well. She told me that I had to do something that would connect me somehow. She told me she was very honored to have read me and she would be happy to help me with exercises and stuff. I did it once. I meditated and I had an OBE.
Which caused me a lot of grief she told me that she didn't expect me to do that and not to do it anymore. It was too soon. so I didn't and I never did it again. I was having a lot of personal problems and my attention was then directed to that instead. I wish I knew how to contact her again.

Oh well. It was good though.

My mother went to one about a year ago, she paid around $50 and got a reading that was..well..bad. Im not saying she didnt know what she was talking about just that she kept telling my mother about me and about my mom's childhood which was completely off. It was well worth the $50 for the tape though! :D

Back in about 1990, I met with a man who was a personal friend of one of my spiritual teachers. He was holding a fair of sorts, and did not charge a dime. He was dead-on about everything he told me. I still have the tape of our meeting, and to this day it still blows me away.

I find the word "psychic" to be a bad one. It usually conjures up images of Uri Geller trying to impress people by bending spoons with his mind while doing some TV show. Also-it makes me think of the non-genuine "hacks" that charge money for supposedly such a special gift from the Universe. But for those that are genuine in their craft-as well as their regard for whomever they are assisting-it seems perfectly acceptable.

For myself-I have no need to see such people anymore. I now get too much information from the Universe as it is! :blushake:

I'm lucky enough to be 'fasted to someone who is highly sensitive. He also reads tarot cards professionally, so if I want a reading I just ask. Although sometimes, he turns to me and starts telling me what he picks up, which is scary because it's so accurate. There are days when I feel like I'm living under a microscope. :blushake:

It was when I was 16. It was very accurate to situations and names that would be prominent in my life etc etc. Then, I've had a few weirdo experiences with them as well.

Most of the readings that I have had haven't been that impressive, and I must say that I have had many readings done i.e tarot, channeling, palm etc. Once I called one of those 1-900 numbers and had a reading done, I felt like it was more of a counseling session then that of speaking to a psychic. She was dead on- on many things in my life which I was seeking answers to. She wasn't fishing for answers..or making vauge statements hoping to "hit" on something. This was a very powerful experience.

In a strange kinda way.. I got the impression that her abliites was something that she developed, I just came away with that impression.

I can do my own readings now,but before I could,I had my palm and cards read and the woman was suprisingly accurate, and no I didn't give her any information or hints or anything. But those people on TV who are out for everyones money and attention are frauds especially that Vanprague(sp) guy! I can't stand him! Sylvia Browne gets on my nerves too!

There's only one person I've gone to for a reading and came out with something useful, and I go to him on a relatively regular basis (I think of him as a sort of spiritual counsellor). I've gotten a few tarot readings here and there, a few at the ren faire and once or twice when I went to Vermont, and most of the time the readings haven't given me much I could take away.

I went to a really great tarot reader awhile back...and she foretold everything right on! She said we would get pregnant in August and due in May and it would be a boy...I didn't take this seriously because me and hubby tried for 10 years with no luck and one miscarriage. well, last sept. 5th I found out I was preggo, and was due May 1st.....she was amazing...oh, and it was a boy

I have seen tarot readers and a psychic. Tarot readers seem to vary but I think if you just get a tarot reader to prove they can be accurate its not going to work so good. The readings I got that were accurate and worth their money is when I honestly needed some outer insight. tarot and psychics average 1$ per minute here. Yes the psychic I see is very worth it. I also do tarot and intuitive but it is hard to see past your own blindness sometimes when you are very involved with a situation. The whole does it feel like its going to be that only because I want it to be that syndrome.

I've been to some good ones and some bad ones. My best friend is Psychic and I myself read cards sometimes. Some like my friend, are very accurate. Some like those gypsie fortune tellers you find at ren faires, you have to be careful of. Never fall for the "I see a great evil in your life, we will have to do a cleansing for you". Er how much will that cost? "About 100 bucks" Yeah right. Those obvious fakes are easy to spot.

I've had about 4 over a 20 year period with results ranging from complete fake to hit and miss. I've never met a psychic who was even mostly accurate. I find it a red flag when they want your birth date because then they'll be operating more off your fire sign than anything else.

I've found that I can be my own medium, my readings are scary accurate.
This has been me lately, and it is very scary.

A good friend of mine paid about $50 for her and I BOTH to get a detailed intuitive reading down in Ocean Beach, CA here in San Diego. She did this as a 30th birthday gift for me almost 2 years ago.

The lady who did it was a master. She did very very well, and I was hella impressed with her. I learned a lot from her as a fellow tarot reader, and I was glad to go just for that experience alone.

It was a good experience, but I can't say that I took her advice very well to heart, lol. Took me almost 2 years to meet the goal she was telling me to "crap or get off the pot" and do...

My family and I have been to a card reader (She didn't use tarot cards for her reading. She used regular poker cards) --- It was $25.00 per reading and we can ask as many questions and stay as long until all our questions been answered.

She was pretty accurate. - VERY accurate, actually. (This is in Southern California)

I've acted as a medium. Don't need to visit one.

Laugh...

Ditto, but I still do from time to time as reading for myself isn't something I like to do...I'm not much into the medium thing per se actually. I don't really mind using my other talents in that direction, but the talking to the dead bit doesn't always thrill me.

Doing the psychic thing was always something I did mostly around family. I would read for fun for a day or so here or there but mostly I stayed away from doing it pro until I ended up working on a tele-Psychic line in the early 90's.

It was a good job and I enjoyed helping folks but they got bought out and it went from me doing that to me barely making anything and well, being told to lie a lot. It was suddenly all about reading from a script, and basically acting, which I didn't feel quite right about.

After that except for a short stint here or there at an occult shop, or a day at a faire, or a private thing now and again, I pretty much decided not to do it professionally. I went back into retail, and put my tarot cards back in the box for the most part.

Until a week or two ago.

I've actually just gotten hired to work with a large web psychic outfit. I just completed my first week back flipping cards, though to be honest, I hardly ever need to do that, never did. I enjoy using them, but I don't need to be using any divination device anymore to be able to do the job. I guess I've just been doing it too long, you know?

I never suggest to anyone who does read to read for themselves. I think that in order to get an unbiased opinion you really do need to go and get one from someone who doesn't know you well. If you're gifted it's all too easy to project what you want into things...

Actually, I probably will let one of the other readers read for me soon. I'm just curious as to what they might have to say. It's been a long time since someone did a reading on me...

Still I've had a few done in my time.

Some were pretty good, others were not, but I can always tell when someone is going to fake it so I don't really bother with getting one from someone like that. Generally speaking if they have any real talent at all they know pretty quickly I am not going to settle for a carny routine anyhow and treat me accordingly. I've only had 2 readers try to pull the candles and curses bit on me, and a lift of an eyebrow and a look was enough in both cases for them to get the idea that I wasn't falling for it and make them stop mid-sentence.

Both times, I just stood, smiled, put $5 down for their time, and started out. Both times the person involved smiled back and asked me if I was aware that I had the old blood in me. (shrug) We cut the BS pretty quick after that and either called it a day, or read for each other in earnest...

You do have to be careful to screen who you choose to read for you. Very seldom will you find a real psychic behind a neon sign, but you can usually find a good reader through occult shops, faires, Pagan organizations, and the like.

Bottom line is take it all with a grain of salt, and remember there isn't a psychic on the planet who is 100% correct. No one is THAT good. It's simply not the way it works and what is going to happen is never set in stone anyhow. Every day you change things. How? By making conscious choices that change your reality. YOU are in control of your own future, it's not all predestined, and unchangable.

Every time you do something you potentially alter the future. A "real" psychic will admit that, and will NOT play "guru." Any psychic that doesn't or attempts to browbeat you into believing everything they say whether it feels right or not simply isn't for real and you folks shouldn't waste your money on them!

:)

Morrighan

PS: I can't stand Sylvia Brown either. I have had some half-half thoughts on John Edwards, but her? I am absolutely certain she is NOT genuine, at least not by much. If she EVER had a gift she's abused it so far it's just pitiful. I've sat there more than once watching her clearly getting nothing and yet insisting she was ABSOLUTELY correct.

Fact is no one gets everybody, and you can't always read for someone. There are going to be times when you will get nothing. If that happens to me, I do the right thing and send the person to someone else. I'm sorry I don't mean to offend if you like her, but frankly she makes my skin crawl. Whatever she's talking to, connected to? I just don't get a friendly energy there....

Most of the tele-psychics do that to me..(shrug) It always seems to me to be more about their own egos than wanting to help. I get nervous enough knowing my pic is posted on the site I work for and that I have to use a web cam. I much preferred it when I was just this mysterious person on a phone! I certainly don't think getting paid for the 6 hours I spend typingis wrong because that is work, but I have no plans on writing a psychic best seller and I certainly don't want anything to do with hosting a cable show!

Just cause I got it doesn't mean I need to flaunt it and make a million, u know?

Hubby and I went to a psychic fair about 10 years ago on a whim. I saw a psychic there who seemed absolutely clueless. I mean, she was no more psychic than a brick. My husband's reading wasn't particularly accurate, either. We both left shrugging and thinking, Oh well...that's $25 and 15 minutes wasted. But then...

we went walking around the little New Age vendor fair they also had going on at the time. At this time, both of us were Christian, so we were kind of intrigued by all the tarot cards and oracles and herbs and crystals we saw. As we were walking around, we met this short, plump little woman who asked if we'd had readings. We admitted that we had, and that they weren't very accurate. I was pregnant with my first child at the time, and this woman put her hand on my belly (which normally I would've hated) and said, "Ooooh, a little boy. How come you're disappointed about that? He's perfect!"

Well, it was my husband who'd wanted a girl, since we already had a boy...my stepson. I was kind of shocked that she came right out and said we were disappointed. (And yes indeed, the ultrasound had already revealed we were having a boy.) Then she looked at me and said, "Oh, but don't worry, honey. You're going to have one of those million dollar families. The next one will be a girl."

She was right on all counts. (The baby was a boy, he really IS perfect...and our next and last child is a girl.) Now, mathematically I know the odds of her getting that right weren't all that slim, but still...she was so sure of herself. And she was just so darn CUTE! I wish I'd gotten her name.

I have gone to some psychics, and also am friends with several professional readers.

The "low end" locally (SE Penna) is around $30/half hour (i.e., a buck a minute). Folks that have a real following are getting as much as $50-75/half hour.

I'm more of an empath than a psychic, but I sure wish I could get that kinda money for a tarot reading! Takes me a good 45 minutes to an hour to do an online reading and I get a mere $20.

I don't read for money regularly, but I was getting $45/half hour. I really need to get back into that, because although it can be hard work, energetically speaking (there's very little heavy lifting involved!) it's also often rewarding. And it beats having people throw feces at you.

Have you ever been to one? clairvoyant/psychic/medium? What did you think? How much did you pay?

I went to a professional Tarot reader in Maine (US) and paid $25 US dollars about 6 years ago. She was quite accurate. First her insights about my personality were right on, then, she told me I would be moving to California, which I did about 6 months later (and at the time of the reading it seemed out of the question/insane to me); She told me I would marry the man that I had come to the town on vacation with, which I did. (again about 6 months later); she told me I would have 3 children in my life, which again, made no sense, since my husband had only 2 children (previous marriage) and I had NO plans of ever ever having a child....lo and behold, I have a daughter. And finally, she told me that she thought my main work/career would involve writing, and I am a copyeditor/editorial manager for a magazine.

All in all, I think I got my money's worth! LOL

We had a psychic house party recently. It was my first reading. We booked a medium and invited family and friends. It was $25 for half and hour for each person. We put a table up for her in a separate room with a door that could close so each person could have a private experience. She was accurate even down to direct quotes from people's lives. There was no "do you know someone whose name begins with 'M'". It was specific, "this is going on in your life right now". She didn't know any of us, and had no way of getting advanced information because we didn't tell her who we invited or what their relationships were to us. She would do a Tarot reading or Rune casting for focus, but mostly she listened to her guides and filtered the information from your own guides.

If she was a fraud, or was offering to break curses for "a little extra" I would have minded paying the $25. However, she was gifted and possibly exposing herself to more than she really wanted to know about a person. It seemed natural and considerate to pay for her time. She stayed after the readings were over and just talked with us and shared her story since she already knew all of ours by then. She was just regular, good people with a gift. The real deal. We're definitely going to have another party next year.

I went to a professional psychic several months ago, and she was very accurate. She said a lot about my life that was actually happening, including the fact that I had recently been depressed, and about my parents and friends. She described me perfectly, and also made predictions about my future. I'm interested in acting, and she picked that up right away. Overall, the experience was wonderful for me, but there are many psychics out there that can be fake, leaving people unimpressed and disappointed. So I suppose it's the luck of the draw, but I would definitely recommend atleast trying it. :)

I have marked for yes bad result.I have been too two different mediums and allthough they were quet accuret about my mental state of mind and personality the ''future'' tellling part was way off.But both of them are quet famous in iceland for their medium talent specially one of them. And I kow of ppl that have been to them and got great results.

But then again I have had tarot readings done here for me on MW and those ppl could not possibly know anything of me or read me from bodylangueage or anything like that. But they were so dead on that is were near chilling. And ecstremely accurate and very helpful.Thank you all MW readers, you´re great guyes :thewave:

My husband use to do readings all the time. Now he does not because he is dealing with some medical issues. Before he was very accurate though and always had returning customers.

I can read a little but do not make it a practice to read for others for a charge. No one pm me for a reading, I won't do it.

I've also been to psychic fairs. I've helped organize a few as well. Most have been right on with one instance where a psychic artist was a fake. I didn't get a reading from him but by watching him for several hours he always drew the same pictures over and over again.

Last year I went to the Western Idaho Fair (in Boise, ID)... and thought I'd give up $5 (it was normally $10, but they let me and my friend do it for cheaper for some reason) for a palm reading, but this woman was amazing! She was able to tell me what was in my past in pretty good detail, without being a variation of truth, she told me exactly what I was feeling in the present (she was probably an empath as well...)... and she accurately predicted some of my future as well. I was thoroughly impressed.

The medium I go to is a 79-year-old lady who works from home, whose spirit guide is Dr Sousa Martins, and who usually charges 10€. The readings can last from 30minutes to 90minutes, it depends on your case. My mother has been going there for maybe 3-4 years, and the spirit guide is usually right on. He has helped us on many things, specially concerning my father... he was always a harsh, conflictive man, but he has gotten better since we began going there. Some predictions on the future were right, some were not. But overall, the accuracy is pretty impressive. There has been family that has come through, my grandfather and both my grandmothers, and one ancester who did not reveal his identity.

As for the Tarot, I just went this week to a lady who also works from home. I had gone to others before, but none was this accurate. She works with the orishas, and, by your birthdate, she finds out who your orishas are and gives a accurate description of your personality, based on them. On the cards, she was also amazing... she described the present situations with such accuracy I did nothing but awe and my mother got goosebumps LOL This is one of the cheapest tarot readers I know, 25€ for a reading that lasted about an hour.

I went to the PPD in the park here and who did I see ? It was the young man that is usually my cashier at the supermarket. He had his table set up next to one of my good friends. He was doing Intuitive Readings using the Oracle Cards. I had known he had a gift and had mentioned things to him in passing during my purchases .We always exchanged pleasantries and sometimes he would ask for a tidbit of advice.
He wanted to show me what he could do and how much he has developed in the past few months, so as we were sitting there chatting he asked if he could practice on me. Of course, I said yes. This kid is 17 and he is amazingly accurate. He has a very old soul and is mature beyond his years! He is a bit on the shy side and still not too sure of himself. I told him someone else was going to come that he would recognize too and had never imagined they were pagan or a fellow Reader. 30 minutes passed by and who shows up? One of his teachers from school. She is a High Priestess and ordained and also a Reader. She insisted on him doing a reading for her. Again he was very accurate and also very nervous. You should have seen the look on his face when she said You will get 100 on your assignment on Monday! LOL! He has a great mentor whom I am aquianted with but was not aware that she had taken him under her wing! I am all giddy because I am going to be able to watch him grow and develop his gift! It tickles my heart too see someone with so much natural talent. He uses more psycometry than anything. I have invited him to come check out this board as well as our local one. :uhhuhuh: :uhhuhuh: :uhhuhuh:

I have never actually been to a "professional", those who charge for their services, but I imagine that it would be an experience. I am a training psionic myself, though I have never met another face to face and conversed with them. I revere mediumship and gape in wonder to their capabilities and respect them very much, for mediumship is a gift I lack.
