I'm nursing my 3 month old son, but also want to lose a bit of weight. I know its not good to diet, but i just want a nice healthy eating plan which will provide all the nutrients for ethan but also help me lose weight.
I know i can't do it without having a written plan, does anyone know where i can get something like this? If i have a set plan, i'll follow it, but if i don't, thats when i tend to sneak a chocolate bar or eat at silly times.

the danger in dieting while nursing is that u might not get enough calories to maintain your milk supply...which, as long as you arent starving yourself and not feeding yourself if u are hungry, wont be a problem. just keep an eye on the baby and see that he isnt showing signs of not getting enough. the other problem is that when u burn fat, the toxins stored in the fat get into your milk. that doesnt mean u cant nurse while dieting, it just means u have to take it slow. so, that in mind, u can do pretty much any "plan" out there as long as its slow and gradual.
as he gets older, it wont be such as issue as he will be getting more of his needs met by solid foods.

Thank you for the advice - i just kinda want to cut out fatty foods, but also want to make sure ethan gets all that he needs and enough of it too.
I've seen a book about eating healthy while nursing, and lose weight at a steady pace - i may have to get it when i have the spare cash.
Thanks again

I've heard weight watchers is good with nursing, but don't have any experience with it myself. I do agree that slow and steady with healthy eating and enough exercise is the way to go. Good luck!
