Like i said, it's good, but its a far cry from my usual schlitz.

I'm a Budweiser or Bud Light kinda girl myself. Mmm or Corona with lime. Don't like microbrews or any of that fruit flavored crap. I just like beer.

For American beers that you can but nationally:

Henry Weinhardts make some nice ales and porters.

For a malt liquor, Mickey's Big Mouth.

MGD - Miller Genuine Draft is great on a hot day.

Michelob brings back fond memories.

For local brews:

Capitol City brewing Company in Washington DC makes a really smooth nut brown ale.

Karl Straus in San Diego makes some good German beers.

Stone Brewing Company in San Diego makes some nice craft beers. Their Smoked Porter, Arrogant Bastard Ale, and Double-Bastard Ale are good stuff. :p

it's one of the most ancient ways of getting drunk known to man, if i remember correctly the mesopotamians had a recipe for beer.

I like Coors Light, Red Dog- and Heinekin, which I can't really afford, but DH buys it anyway...
Every once in a while my brother brings me some seasonal Sam Adams and I usually like most of them.

I have been known in college to drink really cheap beer- Old Milwaukee or Red White and Blue beer. BLECH!!!:ack: But for $2 a six pack you got drunk very cheaply LOL!!

Chris~ too old to even think of drinking that stuff anymore *shiver*

HeHe! Me too! I tried to drink Busch the other day in a drinking game...I realized I got old and my tastes more expensive! But fortunately I'll always be able to tolerate the silver bullet (coors light).

First off, I should really have 5 votes instead of one based just on the fact that beer is my only true love in life.

In college we had to drink whatever was cheapest, and that was basicly pisswater, like schlitz lite ice or black label, or milwaukee's beast. We had to play drinking games in order to force ourselves to drink it, but we did.

Since I graduated and started earning hefty paychecks I've developed a taste for the good stuff... and you guys are all wrong to assume all the best beer is imported. Any of the Sam Adams family, the Sierra Nevada family (especially wheat, that's great)... and Otter Creek Pale Ale from Vermont just recently made it's way here to NJ, much to my delight. Last winter I actually joined up on a ski trip JUST to smuggle back a case of that stuff. To see it sitting in a beer store in Belmar was just too schweet.

These are allways present at my fantastic parties I throw semiannually. The only imports I have are Guiness and some Heineken, since these two are mainstays.

Coronas only taste good if you are on a beach.

I round out the menu with a case of some cheaper base fuel, but not so cheap it isn't drinkable. I find Miller Lite or Rolling Rock to fill the role nicely.

Yeah, it's really nice to see these microbrew beers going national.. their prices aren't too bad either. Considering you might pay upwards of 5$ for a pint in the pub, getting a cold 6 pack at the liquor store for 6.50 is a fair deal.

Anyway, all the pubs around here don't have cheap beer, you're lucky to get a $2 bottle of some lite beer for half the night on a special. Especially during the summer, when all the bennys come down from NYC to crowd the clubs.

But I remember one saturday night in PA, I attended a wedding of some friends, and we all met at this local dive afterwards... a real hick bar, you could tell by the clientele, and me and my friends were all in suits, we looked terribly out of place. But man, they had miller lite and bud lite on tap for $1 a pint, boy did I drink like a fish that night. It was like I had found Elysium or Nirvana, or whatever spiritual plane you want to call it.

my problem with tequilla isn't that i get violent, its that the bottle gets finished.
have to be somewhere in a few hours? too bad. the bottle gets finished.
just two of you? oops!the bottle gets finished.
fixing yourself one margarita? don't think so. the bottle gets finished.
that and somehow fireworks always come into play...

LOL Story... that was my problem.. there was 2 of us.. with 2 bottles of Cuervo.. and it just didn't feel right to leave any behind. :)

I have that problem with anything with Kahlua in it. If the bottle says Kahlua, yup.. the bottle gets finished. I don't care if I have to be at work in 6 hours.. or to a wedding/funeral in 3 hours.. the bottle gets finished. :)

Could you imagine the kind of chaos we would cause if we all went to a bar together somewhere. Well.. we know they'd soon run out of Tequila and Kahlua. :)

I don't usually drink enough beer that I call Ralph, it just makes me incredibly lazy. I like the more expensive kinds I've tried, but mostly it's all Yuengling because that's what the majority drinks. Though there's a micro called Beelzebuth that's pretty good. It kicks you in the booty, having extra alcohol content.
I've stopped hard liquor for the most part after trying to fistfight my boyfriend, and doing the same to someone else because they wouldn't let me.

I voted for the "snooty" beers. Yeah, I know, I know - I'm Canadian and I should be able to drink rocket fuel. :nyah: But I never really used to like beer until a friend of mine got me started on stuff like Smithwicks, Newcastle Brown, microbrewed stuff from the Granite Pub in Halifax and Toronto (*drrrooooooole*). Although I've discovered I like the Carlson (??) beer that Raevyn supplies... ;)

But as far as alcohol overall goes, my one true love is Jose Cuervo Gold. Tequila, por favor.

Man, do I remember my college days and old Mil  :ack:

Then I graduated to Sierra Pale Ale, and realized if I wanted to keep my paycheck every week, I'd have to tone down my tastes. So i stick to Corona, Bud Light & Coors, when i actually drink beer that is.

Haven't done that in a while......at least a week!

I'm not from Canada--but I grew up along the Michigan/Canadian border. The first beer I ever had was 'old' Strohs, and some Canadian beers after that. Therefore for me the 'good' beers are the strong ones--I can't stand Coors and even Heineken has to be the dark.........

well... i'm gonna have to admit, that perhaps my cultural heritage of irish and german have given me a pallate for way too too expensive beers.... but if i just want to get fuzzy and i'm broke, i'll drink whatever is around...

i particularly like heinaken (and the "dark" special edition one that's seasonal),but it tastes nasty warm... but my father introduced me to this japanese beer... Kirin... there are two kinds, the Lager and Kirin IchiBan. they are both great, very rich taste and they are good even down to room temp, which is rare in many beers I've had. But then again, the japanese are known for having "warm" or even "hot" drinks, like Sake, so it doesn't surprise me that their beers taste decent warm as well.

My hubby had me try some imported stuff... this "red stripe" jamaican stuff (pretty strong, but good), and this brown ale that was pretty tasty too. all too too expensive (like 10 or 12 for a 6 pack),but nice once in a while.

my parents drink a lot of MGD and that Miller High life *gags*. MGD i can do, but that so called 'champaigne of beers' just doesn't agree with me.

I also like the ciders (woodpecker, etc), as a change of pace ocassionally... and that "hard lemonade" stuff is kinda nifty.

I dont' like wine coolers, and my stomach doesn't permit me to drink anything hard unless it's mixed with something else, or i'll end up with heartburn that makes me wish i was dead, or at least unconsious.

And strange enough...2 beers and i'm WASTED...but it took a 1/3 of a bottle of tequila, 4 screwdrivers and some straight vodka shots as well...to actually make me worship the porcelin god.

(hangover avoiding tip - don't pass out drunk before you've either drank some water or juice, enough to rehydrate yourself, since hangovers are mostly from dehydration. )

Good advice! My friends would all agree that I'm the hangover queen..seen at least a few hundred in my day.. *also DON'T take acetominiphen (sp?) to cure a headache if you drink, it increases your risk of liver damage. *A vitamin B complex and milk thistle also help with the break down of alcohol in your body. Drink heartily, live long!

Corona is not really beer!and Coors OH MY!!!!
It is pale fizzy water that smells bad!! IMO

In high school when Coors and Corona were not yet sold in the North it was all the rage if you had some it was great because you knew some OLDER Person - or - Boot legger When you graduated and had to earn the money yourself isn't it amazing how your taste and priorities change:)

As far as the hangover - water and aspirin, or another non-steroidal.
The hangover headache is caused by dehydration and inflamation. Your brain literally is bumping against the floor of your skull and becoming inflamed.

My favorite anti-hangover remedies are....

1. Don't fall asleep while you're still drunk!! Eat something, drink some water or coffee. I highly recomend Village Inn or Denny's.. sure, you wouldn't eat there while sober, but you're not sober, so don't worry about it.

2. Take a multi-vitamin with LOTS of water.

3. Don't drink tequila.

4. Don't mix hard alcohol with beer.

5. Don't drink tequila.

LOL you've probably never been to the one in my town. I agree, in most of the Denny's I've been to, it's great.. good food, good service, etc etc.. but not the one here! It used to be GREAT, I used to go there 5 or 6 times a week.... then they got rid of the good manager, and the place went to CRAP. The service is horrible, the food is reallly bad. But I don't dislike the restaurant, as a whole.. just the one here. :)

When I'm sober, I wouldn't touch the stuff.. but mmmmm it's yummy when you're drunk. :) I always leave massive tips at these places, because we usually go pretty late/early in the morning and of course, we're drunk, so we're obnoxious. While we're discussing anti-hangover tips:

DON'T: Drive for 7 hours in a hot car with no air conditioning wearing cordoroy pants and a long sleeve shirt with no beverages to consume then arrive at a pagan festival site and run around the whole grounds looking for the best place to set up camp then set up said camp and then only have a sandwich and an apple for dinner then set about visiting many of the camp sites then find yourself drinking large amounts of red wine from a BOX served by a wonderful person named Jen who would fill up your oh-so-large glass up to the brim with red wine from a BOX while you weren't looking then smoke a few cigarettes when you are usually a non-smoker and finally collapse into your tent at about 2:30 in the morning.

This will lead to severe dehydration and make you feel like sh*t. It could also lead to you making a trip to the hospital.

Not that I'd know any of this from personal experience.

Really.

LOL I've never really had beer. My family are Rum fanatics...and I have to say, I'll take a Cuba Libre any time, day or night.
Otherwise, I love wine. Not the sweet stuff, though I'll drink it. Something about wine that sits right with me.
And, yes, I'm a total lightweight. Give me two big glasses of wine and I'm silly and laughing and having a good old time.
Guess I never really had any friends who were into beer....I've always wanted to try some different kinds though.
