This spread looks really interesting so I thought we could maybe read for eachother or ourselves with it! and then discuss our finding's :D

Hekate, mother of magic, at moonlit crossroads, you befriend the hopeless. Ghosts and hounds follow you. You are the black puppy, and the black she lamb. --from the Orphic Hymn to Hekate

Hekate is a triple moon goddess, ruler of the three realms of the underworld, the earth and the sky. She is guardian of the crossroads, especially where three roads meet, and protects lonely travellers who are out at night.

Interpretation:

For the first card (significator), look through the deck until you find a card that you think represents you or your situation. It can reflect how you feel this day, or can be one you are particularly drawn to, though you may not quite know why. Even if you just like the picture on it, pick one that attracts you somehow. This is the card you pick for yourself.

Then, shuffle the deck like you normally would. When you're satisfied, lay the next card face up beside the first. This is also you, but it is the card the gods pick for you. Make these first two cards work together as a whole to represent yourself. Find their similarities and their differences.

Then lay out the cards face down as per the diagram below.

There are two ways to interpret this spread, which can be used at the same time within the same spread or seperately. Each arm can represent a choice, a path that is open to you; and/or each arm can represent one aspect of the goddess: maiden, mother, crone, representing three aspects of yourself. The maiden represents your independent self, or ego; the mother how you relate to people (relationships, friends, family); and the crone represents your inner wisdom or intuition, which can be something you already know but aren't listening to. The cards will tell you which arm is which, usually quite clearly!

Turn each card face up, one arm at a time, from inner to outer cards.

The first card in each arm represents the choice or the path itself.

The second is the root, the basis, representing your motives, hidden and known, for why you would or would not choose this path. In other words, the pros and cons of this path.

The third is what you have to work with on this path, the facts and your feelings: what you're dealing with, the problem.

The fourth is a plan, some advice, your conscious dealings, what you can do about it.

The fifth card is the unexpected, the gifts from the tricksy gods: blessings, strange circumstances, things found by the side of the road.

Ok, first thing I noticed is that the only suit that is prevalent is cups - ie. emotions. The only major arcana are the given significator and the two in Maiden.

Chosen Significator - High Priestess
Given Significator - The Tower

The Tower here represents drastic change. So true, since I just finished college and am about to look for a job.

Arm 1 - Maiden -
4 of Staffs
King of Swords
Justice
Hanged Man
5 of Staffs

4 of Staffs as usual represents my individual goals. The King shows wisdom and strength, my motivation on reaching these goals. Justice shows my need to find an appropriate and enjoyable job, as well as myself weighing options and examining positions to apply for. The Hanged Man suggests going out on a limb or just going for a job instead of worrying too much. Meanwhile the 5 shows several fallen trees, suggesting something will have to be sacrificed or that my job won't be easy right away.

Arm 2 - Mother -
9 of Pents
Ace of Cups
8 of Staffs
5 of Pents
2 of Cups

The 9 of Pents could suggest the relationships in my life - relatives and best friends. I think the Ace of Cups suggests that these relationships are all good right now as far as emotions between us, and that there are no obvious conflicts. The 8 though, shows that things need to be learned and perhaps that there are conflicts between many of the individuals involved. The 5 may suggest that I will be available for my friends and family as a sounding board, and will help them figure things out and keep hope. The two shows happiness and positive emotions in relationships, and thus I think even though I will have to be there for other friends my relationships with friends and family will be solid for a long time. Also it suggests that in the end all conflicts will be resolved.

Arm 3 - Crone -
5 of Cups
7 of Pents
3 of Cups
King of Cups
10 of Pents

The 5 of Cups shows a group of cups with some turned over under a waning moon. This could describe my recent realization that something is missing in my spirituality. The 7, with a waxing moon, shows how I wish to choose a path and work to better my spirituality at this time. Emotional growth and spirituality echoed in the 3. Apparently the King of Cups again echoes emotions that need to be examined and/or encouraged to help my spirituality - rather then examining the pro's and con's of paths I need to find the one I like and just go with it. The ten shows a man and woman atop a pegasus near a castle under the waxing moon, with butterflies and happiness about them. I think this suggests a positive change will be occurring soon, whenever I'm ready.

Hm definitely some things for me to ponder now. Thanks for the spread - it's very detailed but interesting :)

Wow!!! This looks really interesting... Hekate was one of the Goddesses who was very involved in my life a few years ago, I have a special place in my heart for her.

I will have to try this with the Australian Animals or maybe the scarabs, should work I think... hey SV, if you want to do a reading for me I'll play victim ;)

Interesting about Hekate for me too ~ because Im sure it was her that appeared in my dream the other night, I was dreaming about friends... we were all dressed up in these horrible outfits, out at this old barn where there was supposed to a party.. but the party was finsihed, I didnt feel right there or with the people around as my friends had gone off, then she came intot he dream some how and we talked for a while (cant remember what about) then she showed me all her outfits by changing them pulling her cloak infront of her, then revealing her new outfit! I was really amazed at this and wanted to find out how she did it.. but I cant remember anythign else...

:bug: :bug: Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! :bug: :bug:

hehehe I just did the spread with my Australian Animal cards, and while I'm getting some very distinct messages, I'm not sure that your way of interpreting them is making sense... will have to work more on the interpretation tonight, and will post tomorrow. It's been interesting though!!!

Boy, this took a little working out, but I finally GET IT! Woo hoo!

OK.

Arm #1 - Maiden (Independent Self, Ego)

1. Brolga - Creativity! Acknowledging the hypnotic flow within. Deep self-expression and self-love. Time to utilise your creativity.

2. Dolphin - Contact your inner self. Respond to the Universal flow. Allow yourself to remember your beginnings. Bring yourself back to unconditional love.

3. Frog - Allow yourself time to cleanse and renew. Are you heading in the right direction? New growth is coming your way.

4. Kookaburra - Laughter and Joy. Lighten up and enjoy life!

5. Crocodile - Allow the aspects of your past lives to illuminate your lessons. Be open enough to accept the truth and learn your lessons.

Interpretation

This is where I'm finding myself right now. I am going through a creative stage, and a lot of change. One of my major goals right now is to get more in touch with my inner self, and intuition. This is bringing me back to a place of love which is unconditional. The only "conflict" is questioning of my path, am I on the right one? But I feel that I'm coming around to my true path, and going through a stage of renewal and shedding of old patterns and things I no longer need. And I need to lighten up!!! I have been way too serious lately, so Kookaburra is a little reminder there to take it easy for a while. The "gift" seems to be that I am being shown some things from the past, even past lives, and that I am going to be faced with a few lessons which will be interesting so long as I accept them for what they are!

Arm #2 - Mother - Relating to People

1. Crow - Keep fairness in your dealings, look at both sides of the situation before you decide on your path of action. Call on the council within.

2. Tasmanian Tiger - Act with caution, become a little elusive, and don't put yourself out there for everyone too freely. Allow yourself to slip into the background and become invisible for a while. Self-protection.

3. Owl - Great wisdom comes from silence. Important to allow the space for silence so you can hear Spirit's words. Cultivate your psychic powers and intuition.

4. Platypus - Keep your own counsel. Allow some time for self. Submerge yourself within and hear the voice of your soul.

5. Possum - Be persistent in your endeavours. Don't give up easily. You will eventually get results. Release.

Interpretation

This has been me for a little while now. I've been feeling a need to withdraw and *listen* for a little while. Out of a sense of self-protection in some ways, and also as a way to focus on myself and my growth. Many situations have been calling on me to weigh things carefully (Crow) and to keep my own counsel. The pros and cons of becoming elusive (Tas Tiger) is that on one hand you become a harder target ... yet you also don't get much interaction with others. Silence has been my biggest teacher in the last few days (Owl) and through this I have been able to hone some of my intuition and other talents. The "plan" is to keep my own counsel again, allow time for self, and submerge myself in silence (Platypus). The gift is that if I am persistent in these endeavours, and don't give up easily I will gain the results I want, and find release (Possum). Then I can come out of submersion.

Arm #3 - Crone - Inner Wisdom and Intuition

1. Cockatoo - You are comfortable with yourself. Life is good; you have good friends. Your best friend, yourself, brings you the greatest joy of all.

2. Wombat - Don't give up on your dreams. Be tenacious, keep going, and you will reach your goals.

3. Goanna - Be on the alert. Be prepared to seize the moment and enjoy it.

4. Echidna - Move out of your comfort zone. No growth comes from staying within areas of comfort. Get involved in life.

5. Snake - Shed your old ways and transmute into the New You. Move on to your new beginnings. A new cycle is about to begin.

Interpretation

This is talking about where I want to go and what I'm being told about it, also the wisdom to go with it. I am comfortable with where I stand right now (Cockatoo). And I am being told not to give up on my dreams right now (Wombat). I think this might be related to buying our own home, and that we have to stick to our budget and goals and we'll see positive results. And somewhere along the line a situation is going to present itself that will need to be "seized" (Goanna), it might require moving out of that comfort zone (Echidna), but it's a good thing to do. And the gift is a new cycle (Snake) and new beginnings!

The card I chose for myself is Koala - as he is one of my Totem Guardians (Wombat is the other). Butterfly was the card chosen by the gods, and this is about transformation and growth :)

All in all, I got really positive results out of the reading, but it took me a bit to get the results. I found it a sort of difficult spread to work with, but interesting. Not sure if I would use it much though.

I have been thinking of trying it again, the more I look at it and the results I got, I feel that it was a very interesting spread - it's a lot of work, but worth it I think. :)

Anyone else try it?

I want to say thanks for bumping this too. As I was rereading it I came across this section which is *exactly* what has been happening in friendships lately (things appear to be fine between myself and friends, but conflicts between other individuals have been really flaring up lately and I've ended up stuck between them). Excellent!
