visit Alcatraz? I would LOVE to go visit there!! I find it so fascinating, all the stories about it, who was imprisoned there etc... And of course, hear about the ghostly happenings

I think it would be a real hoot! With all that energy you could encounter many strange things.

My best friend went this summer - she said it was really scary. She went during the day and said that was bad enough, but apparently if you go at night they do a tour of the hospital wing as well which is supposed to be one of the most haunted parts. I'd love to go.

I'm sorta on the fence on this one. On the one hand, yeah, if someone said "hey there, gonna pay for you to go over to the states and visit alacatraz" I certainly would. On the other hand I'm not sure if I could all that negativity. I have enough trouble going to pevensy castle :( couldn't wait to get my butt out of that place.

Alcatraz has a creepy energy to it...even in the day when it is full of tourists the place gets you looking over your shoulder very quickly. It would be even worse at night. But I'd like to do the haunted Alcatraz thing anyway. If any place has ghosts Alcatraz does.

I didn't used to, but then I found out an uncle of mine was a guard there. Haven't heard much about it tho.

Been there quite a few times, only cause I live in California. So when we go to San Fransisco, we figure we might as well go there too.

I would love to go. Not only for the fact that it is one of the most famous US prisons, but also for the fact that it was also a fort during the Civil War. It seems to me that with all of the deaths and births, as there was also a school there for the children of the guards and other workers for their children that it would be a wonderful place to visit. And, while I'm sure that it has it's fair share of negitive energy, it could very well also have it's fair share of positive energy as well. It seems that it would be well worth the visit.

oh man, I live in the city and haven't yet gone, tho a bunch of my friends did, I hear it's really cold, and I'm sorta anti-cold, but my friend Andy took bunches of pictures, I want to check them for spirits. If you ever do make it out here we should totally hang out, it'll be cool. I promise.

I went last summer while visiting my grandparents on the west coast. There is certainly a very eerie tone to it, and its kind of like your body doesn't want to settle down, like there is a lot of underlying stuff going on. Definately the most eerie part were the rooms where they would put people that were completely black. Convicts said that they would rip a button off their shirt, throw it up in the air, and try to find it on the grond to keep themselves amused. There are also TONS of seagulls pooping all over =).

I've been. It really is kind of a creepy place. Nothing interesting happened when I was there though, just weird vibes.

I went, but the energy for the most part was so transient due to the tours that were constantly being conducted. I went with a tour group and was not able to get a real feel for the place due to all the tour goers chaotic energy.

There were a few areas and cells that had an eerie feel to them. But I think it would be easier to get a real feel of it without all the crowds.

I'm planning on it next summer when it's deathly hot as it's supposed to be freezing out there even in July...Not so much for the spooks, though there are supposedly a few, but to take some pics. I'm seriously into photography and I think it would be neat....

Definately! I'm going to try and visit when I go to California to visit my sister in a few weeks. It sounds like a place with a lot of interesting history. I hope I get to go!

My husband and I want to but no clue when that will ever happen, we don't go to Frisco too often. It would probably make my husbands spirit radar go nuts in that place.

I've been there and didn't notice anything weird. I guess if you are expecting it to be creepy you can trick yourself into it though.

Exactly. I live near San Francisco, and I've been out. It is certanly creepy, but with 1000+ other people there throwing their energy into the mix, the whole place was just too "noisy" to really get any vibes off of the place. I think all the activity would send any sentient entities into hiding anyway.

I would love to go there at night, with maybe 10 other people. It would be interesting to see how the place "behaves" when there isnt as much tourist energy there.

I went when my family was stationed out there (in Vallejo actually), I was 15. I found the solitary cells the creepiest, but it wasn't as creepy as I had expected.

I've been there. About uhhh five years ago. First time to San Fran too. I was younger and not really intuned with things that I am now so I didn't notice anything spooky there.
