Do you think the Enfield Poltergeist incident was fake or real? I know there has been a lot of research on it, and apparently scientists discovered it was all fake. But after watching a programme (Jane Goldman Investigates) she went to see the girl whos now an adult who this happened to, and interviewed her. It sounded very convincing, and she is still adament to this day, that those things really did happen! And theres even people who did filming in the house who reported activity they seen themselves & one camera man was even hit in the head with a toy block.
There was a few things though that made me doubt, like for instance, when she claimed that she walked through a wall!!
Even though it's apparently been proven fake, people still read about it and research what went on...
What do you think??

I believe it has the potential to be both real, and fake

I believe it could have been real. Sure. I've experienced hauntings first-hand, so why not?

i tryed looking for a website, but i can only find snippets of information. It happened in the 70's to a family living in a council house in england, they went though some traumatic poltergeist activity, and its one of the most famous paranormal reprtings... although many of varied opinions on it.

I remember hearing about this! I, honestly, think it was a combination of real and fake.

I think there was a ghost/poltergiest who was doing a few things... but i think the girl was "helping" out too. not as much as it might seem though.... more like she was playing back. you know?

Yeh, i thought exactly the same. I think there was a spirit, but the girl (or should i say family) over-exagerated a bit, and made a few things up to make it sound better.. like the walking through walls bit.

As in most things, the truth lies somewhere between real and fake.

Peace!

Hello

I read through the whole case I don't know how many times a few years ago.

I do believe in hauntings and in ghosts, poltergeists and the like however I believe this case is fake. Adamant or not, I think the girls may have been spooked by something either spook related or ordinary and then built this up further and further. I would find it hard to believe also that they could continue it without the knowledge of their family.

There are a few things that don't make sense however. When interviewed at the time seperately, the stories given by the children matched and kids can tend to drift slightly when retelling truthful events. In their accounts, they did not. That's an aspect which makes me think it was a fancy.

On the other hand, the actual phenomena which occured when investigators were present were only affecting one of the girls. The one entering puberty. There are a number of cases where poltergeist activity centres around children during puberty for whatever reason that may be and this case followed that path.

It's a case which is well worth a read and a google on 'The Enfield Poltergeist' should produce some intriguing results.
