...there was a leak around the tub that we didn't catch (and our landlord didn't catch) for the five years we've lived here, which meant he had to replace a small section of the flooring. Thank heavens it didn't get into the subflooring. But that meant he had to re-tile it, and he asked me what colors I wanted in there. :D

I chose tans and light browns, to go with my burgundy/hunter theme in the bath, and the tile guy came today to put it in! Yay! The floor looks ten times better than the ugly tile that was in there before and now it matches with my decor.

Sigh, I want my own home so I can choose all the wall colors and flooring myself, but it was really nice of our landlord to let me pick the colors. This is a pretty house, and it deserved better than the ugly white/faded blue tile that was in there before.

yay, you! _handclapp
it's so satisfying to get your home looking the way you want. plus, it's probably a fair amount safer now that the leaks are stopped.

When the time is right you will have your own home m'lady! In the meantime, congrats on the new flooring. The colors sound wonderful!

Peace!

Hey Draconis...been awhile. Yeah, my entire house is pretty much burgundy/hunter. In the living room the accent colors are in rusts, in the dining room, in ivory, in the bedroom, in ivory...I simply can't handle having blue as a color in my home environment. Tried, doesn't work (which is why I switched back to the burgundy bath).

Someday, yeah...feels like at 43, with as many books out as I have and a chiphead husband, we should be able to afford our own home but around here prices are insane. We pay 2-1/2 times the rent my sister pays for her rent for just about the same size house but different area, BUT...this is our home and where the high tech jobs are.

Houses around here start, if you're lucky, at around 300,000...condos run into the 2-Million range in some areas here.

Here's one of the newest buildings going up in Bellevue:

http://www.onelincolntower.com/

Condos in this building start at 550K, and run up over 2 million dollars. This is downtown, in my city. It's going to be gorgeous, for a skyscraper, but man, that area is prime real estate. The neighborhood we live in, the houses start at around 350K or so, I'd estimate. It's expensive to live here, but the city really does offer a huge variety of opportunities.
