HELP FIND EDDIE JORDAN
KARK News 4
http://www.kark.com/karktv/news/story_tmp.asp?cmd=view&Storyid=1748
Hot Springs police would like your help in finding a missing man. And
his family fears that his Wiccan religion may have something to do
with his disappearance.
Eddie Jordan has been missing since Sunday. On Tuesday, a note showed
up at the store that Jordan's friends run. It reads, in part, "If you
would like to see your brother again, close your shop of evil
immediately. Satan is at work as long as you are open." The letter is
signed, "a son of God."
Jordan told his friends on Sunday night that he had to go to the
restaurant where he worked. That restaurant had cash stolen from the
register on the same day. Eddie's friend's don't know what to think,
and police say they are looking at this case from two sides. On the
one hand, he may have been abducted; on the other hand police
fear "some sort of a sick joke. We don't know."
Eddie Jordan was last seen on Sunday night. He's a diabetic and
police are listing him as an endangered missing person. He's a white
male, 5' 6," 210 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. Police are
also looking for a bronze Chevrolet pickup with Arkansas plates 206
CYE. If you've seen Jordan or the truck, you're asked to call police.

NOTE: Representatives of W.A.R.D. (http://www.ward-hq.org/) have been
actively involved in this case since Eddie was first reported missing.
According to Darla Kaye Wynne (AKlover@aol.com), Assistant National
Director of WARD, the Hot Springs Police Department and the F.B.I.
are already looking into various possible scenarios. Darla reports:
"The FBI is monitoring this situation and coordinating their efforts
with the Hot Springs PD. This is being classified at this time as a
missing person report and is not within the FBI jurisdiction, but
because of the notes, the FBI continues to follow the case closely."
Addressing the concerns expressed by some of the local Pagans, Dan
Sturgill of the Fort Smith Office of the FBI emphasized that the FBI
investigates and takes seriously any such crimes reported against a
person or persons regardless of their race, color, religion or
sexuality. He also stated that the Hot Springs PD was taking this
case seriously and conducting a professional investigation into the
matter.

It is awful that he is missing, and sad that they are blaming it on his religion, ugh.

Wow..but could you just imagine what people would do if it was a Christian kidnapped by a Pagan because of his religion? People would be out in droves to hang us all.

You know, I may be reading this differently, but from the article I'm reading I get the impression that they think someone may have attacked/kidnapped the guy because of his religion... not saying he took money and took off because of it... which isn't saying he's bad because of his beliefs... so... ?

How sad! I'll be lighting some candles for his family and friends, and some to bring him home safely. I couldn't imagine being in that situation.. I hope for the best!
I would say, from the note, that he was kidnapped because of his religion. I'm assuming the store that recieved it was an occult store of some sort. It's ridiculous to harm someone for the "sake of good." It's hypocritical and sick. It reminds me of the people who bomb womens clinics and kill people to save unborn fetus'. Does this make any sense to anyone?? "Lets kill people to save people! Yeah, that sounds like a good idea! Lets kill people who have familes and friends and probably children! Lets do that!" Ugh, sometimes I really hate this world.

 Wow, this sounds scary! I just did a search as well, EP, and again nothing new. :ugh: I really hope they follow through with this story. I would really like to know if he's okay and what happened to him. He hasn't been missing all that long, so that's a positive thing. I hope. :(

MISSING HOT SPRINGS MAN FOUND

Police say they've solved the mysterious disappearance of a Hot Springs man.
Eddie Jordan has been found alive in Louisiana.
The search for him began last Sunday after the 37-year-old vanished while
supposedly doing errands. Eight psychics went into the woods looking for him
Saturday, following visions that he was in an abandoned warehouse.
Jordan and his friends are members of the church of Wicca, a religion based
on witchcraft. They say ransom notes were sent to a witches' supply store in
Hot Springs. Signed by "a son of God," the notes suggested Jordan would be
returned when the store was closed.
Just before one Tuesday afternoon, investigators located Jordan in southern
Louisiana. He doesn't want his exact location revealed.
Police say Jordan has decided to cut ties with the Church of Wicca and has
gotten a job and started a new life. They're still looking for the author of
the ransom note.

"- I don't know what to think "
yes, that does leave too many questions open, doesn't it. one can hope that the police don't put the matter of the threatening note on the back burner just because "he's been found and is o.k."

Hmm, this puts a whole new twist on things. Maybe he wasn't kidnapped at all. Since he decided to "cut ties" with the Wiccan religion, that just seems odd that he would move to Lousiana, get a job, right after being kidnapped. I dont know... I'm just confused.

Subject: FYI Update: Missing Wiccan Case May Have Been Hoax
MISSING MAN FOUND
Steven Mross
The Hot Springs Sentinel-Record
http://www.hotsr.com/files/news.html
A local man reportedly missing since Aug. 26 and believed kidnapped,
according to his friends and fellow followers of the Wiccan faith, was
"never really missing" and was found safe and sound in Louisiana, Hot
Springs Chief of Police Gary Ashcraft said Tuesday.
Edward L. Jordan, 37, was located after police issued a BOLO or "Be on the
Lookout" alert through the National Crime Information Center to law
enforcement agencies nationwide "under the pretense that (Jordan) was an
endangered adult," Ashcraft said.
Jordan was last seen by his roommate shortly before 10:30 p.m. Aug. 26 when
he left their residence to go to a Central Avenue cafe where he works to
attend to some business.
He told the roommate he would be gone for a short time, but never returned
and failed to show up for work as expected the next day, reports stated.
According to his friends, the cafe's door was found unlocked and money was
missing from the cash register and a bank bag.
Ashcraft said police have since learned there was no money missing and no
official theft report was ever filed involving the cafe or the spiritual
store, Arsenic and Old Lace, operated by Jordan along with Dan Demster and
Della Walters, both ministers in the Wiccan faith.
Demster said Jordan was being trained to be a Wiccan minister and was
serving as his understudy.
Jordan told detectives who contacted him Tuesday that "I just got tired of
that witch stuff and left."
He said he has "given my heart to the Lord" and asked the detectives not to
tell his friends where he is staying and working in Louisiana.
Demster had said they were especially concerned about Jordan because he was
recently diagnosed as diabetic, but had not yet obtained medication he needs
to treat the disorder.
Ashcraft said Jordan has known he was diabetic for "quite some time" and was
taking his medication and monitoring his condition.
Demster and Walters reported to police they had received threatening notes
in their mailbox which made reference to Jordan's disappearance and
indicated they should close down their "shop of evil."
Ashcraft said the origin of the notes is under investigation and noted they
are looking at the possibility the notes "may have been perpetrated by
parties involved" in the case.
"We've spent a lot of time chasing down leads that were not leads at all."
Detectives noted that the truck Jordan left in, which was reported as
belonging to Walters, actually belongs to a third person and was being
purchased by Jordan through Walters.
"That's strictly a civil matter and something they'll have to work out
amongst themselves," Ashcraft said. "We're not getting involved in that."
Ashcraft stressed that Jordan is an adult and "has the right to go wherever
he wants to go."
He said, "The only reason we got involved is because his friends were
telling us he needed his medication and may have been kidnapped."
He said anytime a person is reported missing, "we will treat it in a
professional manner and investigate it to the fullest and make sure it comes
to a good conclusion."

Doesn't this seem incredibly odd to everyone?? I mean, he was practicing to become a minister of the faith, and then he comes off and say, "I got tired of the witch stuff." That doesn't seem like something normal to say. It's like, if a christian man was studying to be a minister, and then runs away and says, "I got tired of that God stuff." Most people who dedicate their lives to their faith aren't going to have those types of feelings halfway through.
And also, I'm not sure if I was reading it right, but it said the notes may have been written by the people that owned the store?? Why on earth would they do that? This seems to be one big twist after another. I feel like I'm watching a soap opera.

Woah. Isn't my face red...:G
I really don't know what to think either. I don't suppose running off to give your heart to the Lord is technically different than running off to live your life for the Goddess. Whether this Jordan guy is under the influence of people now or before all of this mess, we can't be sure. I doubt the entire truth will ever be published anywhere, unless "the parties involved" all write their own books and we read all of them.
*sigh* I just hope everyone involved is okay and that everything works out for them.
SAHM, thanks for looking for further information on this story and keeping us posted. We could have been in the dark for ages on this one...

"Woah. Isn't my face red..."
i don't think there's any call for red faces here, the story was presented here in good faith, as a news story involving a pagan. that it turns out there is more than meets the eye is no fault of anyone here.

Yes..there was a lot of media attention paid to this...which makes me wonder all the more....it just seems extremely....irregular. Almost like a stunt..or a ploy. It seems like this story is going to be one of those which adds fuel to the Fundamentalists Christians POV about Wicca.....whether or NOT this individual was intending it to. Now many "Christian" parents will have the opportunity to point to this case and say.."See..it IS just a stage". Etc.
Shakes head.
