A few questions for a starting wiccan.

Hmm... yes. I've been studying wicca for a few months, reading a few books and sites here and there and lately I've come over a lot of talk about seeing/feeling auras and/or energy.
I was largely wondering, this is something that comes along with your psychical awareness getting better, right? As your psychical front gets widened, you'll be able to see and feel more than you did before?
I know that some people get the ability from birth or somehow develop it around their teen years, but that's not the only way, right?

I know, or rather I THINK I know, that I can feel energy, but I'm not able to distinguish it. I just know that when I feel energy, I can feel something surging through wherever it is the energy goes. Like if I try to draw energy from a stone. But I haven't been able to see it, and I have no ability to distinguish it.

I guess my main question is, these things should come with practice, and are not based on if you were born with them or not? It's just a question that has been bothering me for a little while as they haven't been touched in anything I've read so far.

Yes, it comes with practice. My guess would be that some people are born with more natural ability than others, but in most cases, that sort of energy perception increases the further you go in your spiritual work. That has been the case with me and many people I know.

Makes sense. I've been told I have an empathic ability, although I see myself unable to control it. I do often feel myself... "sharing" people's feelings, in cases where a person has strong feelings and is trying to hide them, and such. I can also say I've "extracted" a feeling out of a song(stronger than the normal "aww, this song is really sad" feeling you get) a few times, although it's rare.
I guess that is my withborn ability. *shrug*

As for practice furthering the ability, well that's good. I wouldn't want to "miss out" ;P

It's my opinion that everyone's born with this ability, some may be a natural at sensing energy and auras, but most have to practice. I can give you suggestions on how to practice feeling energy if you want, it's something I do too.

My thought about natural abilities is this: Michael Jordan might have been born with a natural talent to play basketball...but he still had to practice to be a good player. I may not have the natural skill he did, but with practice, I could probably hold my own too.

Have you tried anything like meditation tapes to help you use your minds eye to manifest what energy you feel into a vision? I listened to one a few times during meditation over a friends house and I feel it really helped.

The way i see it is, we use what, 10% of our brains? I think some of the rest is these other "gifts" or "talents" that we were stoped from useing because we are too violent/dangerous.. i mean the man who used more of his brain than everyone elce made a bomb! I think some people have some of this talent leaking out when they are born, others have not so much.. but if you practice with it enough more leaks out..
