I'm at work on my lunch break reading the local paper and I see this (http://www.chieftain.com/life/1099116000/1)! My jaw dropped! People are so naive!! Petitioning to move Halloween away from a Sunday?? I do they not understand that what they call Halloween is the day before "All Saints Day" in which THEY TOO honor the dead??
Wouldn't that be like moving Christmas Eve two days before Christmas?!?!

yes, i've heard about that.
and to answer your question- i have no idea ( as to how more ridiculous people can get).
the other day as i was walking down the steps in the subway, i saw a big orangy brochure on the floor. on it, in big letters, it said ' WHAT'S WRONG WITH HALLOWEEN"
i figured that there would be more since i saw that one...now i wish that i'd actually picked it up and read it

My dad hates Halloween. He says it's commercial and American. He doesn't have a problem with individual Americans, but he does with the country at large.
I feel like telling him since my family is not strictly Christian (as in we were all christened but we never attend church or anything) we shouldn't celebrate Christmas, as we only celebrate it's commercial side.
Well, i tend to move my Yule celebrations to the 25th so i can celebrate with my family, but my brotehrs are just in it for the presents

Loads of people i know but don't particularlly like think I am Satanist. I guess thats my punishment for not following the first book on Wicca i ever read, and not 'staying in the broom closet'. I am proud of my beliefs and didn't see why i should have to hide what i was, when no Christian in my school would have to, no Hindu, Muslim, Jew or Jehovahs Witness either for that matter.
