View Full Version : Does it get easier?

Being totally unfamiliar with Tarot, I'm finding it takes me almost an hour to do each 1 card reading. When I look at the cards, I write down everything that comes into mind...what the colours mean, what the symbols mean to me...that type of things. It seems to just go everywhere. I have to pull a rune to help me sort everything out...to get a sense of direction what the cards are saying. At the end, I'm just exhausted!

I'm wondering if I'm reading more into these cards that I need to. I tried doing a three card spread last night & had to give it up. My head was starting to hurt.

I am enjoying myself still! :D

(Psst! I would love to get some feedback on my readings. Don't worry about hurting my feelings...I have none! :D)

It does get easier. :D By doing it the way you are, you will get many meanings for the same card, which can be very helpful during readings. Make sure you are pulling the meaning of the card so that it relates to your question. I usually do go as in-depth as you are. I try to put myself into the card and get the feeling of that the card is trying to portray. I alos just go by my fleeting thoughts when I'm reading. ...but the big thing is to relate it to the question.....and when you are doing more than a one card reading, relate it to the position as well. :D

It took me a long time to put the book down and just "go for it"....I was very self conscious....and I still am in some aspects. I still get nervous. :D I think it's easier to read for other people because you get the feed back. When I do readings for myself, I'm always asking: "How does that fit in?" So it takes me longer to do readings for myself. Just go with you intuition, don't force thoughts. :D

Right on, it was and is hard for all of us to learn them and most importantly, feel comfortable in our knowledge. Sometimes I still look at other peoples meanings of cards and think..wow, that is way different then what I would get from that. But that's life, we're all different. Same thing goes with learning the tarot. Everyone has a different inner voice, not wrong, just different. Hang in there, it gets easier. Try not to THINK so much!

Thanks for the suggestons, Dagda & Amora! When I was doing the 3 card reading for myself, I kept wondering if I was really seeing the meanings in the cards or was I just making them fit the situation. It feels right using the runes with the cards but I haven't had much feedback on my readings yet. :D I'll just keep working my way down the victim's list until someone yells "Whoa! Stop!" :D

I totally know where your coming from hun! & my trick is that I do let all the different thoughts and images come out, writting them down or speaking.. then suddenly (normally) something Ive said or written jumps out and I know its that. Have you felt like that with the confirming runes.. an element that you did think of with the tarot is then touched again with the rune?
When I do reading on here, sometimes Im totally stuck and dont know what to write but once I start writting everything flows and comes out ~ do you feel the same?
Like Amora said ~ stop thinking to hard! and start just pouring out all those thoughts and emotions and soon youll notice something go click.. and the light bulb will turn on! :D

Your doing a really terrific job with all your readings! Your one for me was very accurate at the moment :D
Believe in yourself hun :smooch:

Yes, the runes seems to pick up certain points of the card & then I'm able to see where everything's going. With the one card reading, there's no question so I don't know what to look for. So, yes, the runes really helps. :D

My readings don't often take too long. I end up picking things out and saying "it could mean this, it could mean this, it could mean this, does any of this make sense or relate to your life right now" then get input from the person, then more things come up, etc. I really have to let my own intuition go - just kind of step out from myself and let the first impressions jump out instead of trying to evaluate them first.

I think you're doing an excellent job, and I commend you for really making such a great effort.
