I just completed my very first ritual!!
For years I've had my night stand set up as an altar, but more or less just little spiritual trinkets, I've never done rituals or magic of any sort.
Tonight I did a Samhain Ritual:fprtyman4 It was mostly just lighting Candles for my friends and family who have passed recently, but all the same I felt a STRONG connection! Very powerful, and tear filled!
Anywho I am so excited that I wanted to share! ooo! Also, I took a photo (with my cheap $5 digi cam) of my altar! (It's fuzzy because of how cheap my camera is...

Very cool. I too performed my first ritual today. It was great. It was outside, there's a river near my house so I headed down there. I offered various fruits and vegitables, and some whine. Lots of incense, prayer, and of course some divination. Amazing experience, can't believe I waited so long. Sorry to high-jack your thread. Got carried away.

You are lucky, my mom won't even let me light a candle, she can smell it. I have to wait until she leaves the house to do anything magic related. On Samhain, I layed down and said a prayer to the Goddess. I don't know if that was enough, though. That was the only normal thing I could do where she wouldn't be able to tell what I was doing. I hate hiding it from her, but I can't tell her, she'd freak. It's so unfair! I just want some support :hugz:
Oh, sorry, I'm blabbing.

(((HUGZ))) That was how I was in high school; and I think part of why I waited so long to dig into the magic side of my faith! (I've been Pagan since 1997, but just recently started to dive into the magical side of things!) It's rough not having support; and I still don't have it, my husband is better than my mom, but it's still hard for him to understand!
I think just saying a prayer is just fine!
Yippee! Today I'm building my first permenant altar!

I think your altar looks wonderful. Simple, yet it serves its purpose.

Mine too! Isn't it a great feeling? Almost makes me wonder why I waited so long, but not quite.
I set my altar back up last night to get a picture - the cloth wasn't so wrinkley the first time around.
Pretty simple. Those are my regular wine glasses, and yes, that is a Pampered Chef kitchen knife. Hey, if Starhawk can cast a circle with her garden sheers, I can use a kitchen knife.

Your altar looked wonderful!! (Even with a wrinkled cloth!)
I didn't physically cast a circle, I just meditatively (visualization) cast one around my home! However, next time I'm casting a circle!! I got a knife today!! I stumbled across a beautiful one in an antique store, so it's going on my new permenant altar that my husband is constructing as I type!!
