As if teachers didn't have enough to worry about. Now kids
will be haeding back to school armed with one of the most
addictive video games ever.
Mario Kart Super Circuit for the Game Boy Advance brilliantly
shows off the muscle in the new portable system. If you
remember playing Super Mario Kart on the SNES, then you'll
instantly recognize this game.
While it does use the classic cute Marlo characters(Mario, Luigi,
Donkey Kong, Toad, Yoshi etc.), this game has always had the
distinction of being a top-notch racing game.
While it's obviously not realistic, it is a giggle-filled racing game
that will have you tilting and turning your shoulders as you take
corners. Just be mindful of that when you're on the bus.
The colours are great, cartoonish and they make the game easy
to see on the small screen. The control is first class and the fact
you can play with up to four friends on a link cable, with only one
copy of the game, is a huge bonus.
This is one of the best games....all right, THE best game for the
GBA yet.
RATING: E for everyone.
What's right: Battle mode, multiplayer mode, powerslides.
Compare to: Any other Mario Kart tracks.
Graphics: 4 out of 5; control 4.5; gameplay 4; replay value 4.
Overall a 4 on the Numb Thumb.
THRUSTMASTER STEERING WHEEL
This is a big racing weekend in Vancouver, so it's only fitting we
look at one of the best things you could have if you're a racing
fan. I've had the pleasure to check out the Thrustmaster NASCAR
racing wheel for the PlayStation 2 and it's a trip.
This one is on the money. It's solid, handles like a real wheel,
and seriously enhances most racing games.
This one works on the PS and PS2 but also comes with a version
for the PC.
The force feedback feature is brilliant: go off the track onto the
shoulder or onto the grass and you'll feel the wheel shake until
you get back onto the road.
Trying it on games like Gran Turismo 3 or even NASCAR is the
way to go. Face it, you'll never be able to experience racing like
the Indy Car drivers ripping up the streets of Vancouver this
weekend but if you're a closet speed freak, getting your hands
wrapped around a Thrustmaster steering wheel is the next best
thing.
