I know people hate it when other people brag about their kids, but I just had this conversation with my 10 year old son, who has been coming in to report to me on the election coverage and who's leading in electoral votes.

Ian: Now Bush is in the lead, Mom.
Me: You're very interested in this, aren't you?
Ian: Yes, I am.
Me: That's really great.
Ian: Well, it's my future--I want it to be a good one.

He could be playing a video game. Instead, he's watching the election coverage. Some day, I'm gonna be calling him Mr. President. :D

I took my girls (4 and 6) to vote with me. I think it's never too early to encourage them to become involved!

I totally agree. :) Our kids did a mock election in school this year, and both were very excited and involved. Of course, they cancelled out each other's votes. Shayla voted for Bush, and Ian voted for Kerry.

So did our girls, and Bush won in both places. No surprise, as it's Texas.
But it's not just politics, it's everything. I get ours to recycle and pick up litter too. :bubbles:

I am totally surprised how much my kids have been involved this year. Saying that I should vote for this person, and stay away from that person. And then one of my kids tells me, mom, don't vote for either, hehe... I told her, it just doesn't work that way.

That's awesome!

I, unfortunately, can't vote (not a US citizen - yet) so hubby's vote had to count for the both of us!

 Ian!

We took our boys with us to vote. Patrick (4) was very curious about everything that was going on.

My kids (6 and 80 have told me on numerous times how they wish that they could vote for real. that they don't like what Bush is doing to the country and the environment. They both "voted" in school for Kerry. (Bush won there too).
I do have to remind them, when they get vocal about hating Bush that other people have the right to their own opinions. My best friend and neighbor is staunch Rep. and her daughter was talking bad about Kerry to us. It starts early.

I hope all of these aware kids stay aware- it is their future.
