<steps into MODERATOR mode>

This forum is for DISCUSSING theology and philosophy. It is NOT a forum where people should be making judgements about other people's faiths in ANY manner that is insulting or degrading.

I Suggest, and i suggest this SERIOUSLY, that if you have a QUESTION, post it with the intentions of LEARNING something.

I also suggest, that if you have something to SHARE, then do so with the intentions of TEACHING. Understand that information that you are sharing will be taken SERIOUSLY by the reader. This is NOT a good place for false information, or anything you don't know to be fact. I am not saying that all theology or philosophy is "fact", but it would be appreciated if any information be valid, and ACCURATE representations of the topic.

and if you read a QUESTION, but you DON'T have a VALID answer, that you post your comments with RESPECT and state them CLEARLY as an OPINION.

If you have an ANSWER to a QUESTION, then please support your ANSWER with FACTS, not assumptions, and judgments, and insults. List websites, books, references, etc.

If your ANSWER is an OPINION, then state it as so. Matters of opinion would be information that you are sharing that expresses how you feel or think about the topic, rather than actual "facts" that define the topic.

If you want to come here and start an argument (as opposed to a "debate" which wouldn't involve all the negativity that arguments carry), then don't bother. I'm not going to let these things slide.

I have nothing against FREE SPEECH, but free speech isn't something to take advantage of in order to abuse it, and when you abuse it, by using it to provoke the members of this community, then I must draw a line. WE are here to learn and share our experiences and knowledge, not start a lynch mob.

Now, if someone discusses something here, pertaining of course, to theology or philosophy, and you don't LIKE it, and you don't think it's PAGAN, that doesn't mean that it doesn't fall under the RULES of this website that state that you should RESPECT all other faiths.

This community primarily discusses pagan paths and beliefs, and it's a place for pagans to meet and converse, but it's also a place where EVERYONE and meet and get to know people of ALL faiths.

There are "stupid and ignorant" people in all walks of faith. Don't judge a religion or belief by a few people. Do research, read the REAL information, and THEN you can actually make an educated decision about what you really think about it. I know lots of us have had negative experiences dealing with people of various faiths and paths, and those people may have given us reason to judge them as a whole, rather than an individual. As *supposedly* open minded folk, we should really take the opportunity to not judge others, lest we ourselves be judged.

I would hope that you don't find my suggestions out of line, but I'm really getting tired of the total disrespect I occasionally encounter here. I know not everyone is perfect, but how many times can you gently warn someone before it goes too far when they don't take it seriously. We have the capacity to maintain MATURE and INTELLIGENT conversations here, as well as keep them ON TOPIC. We have two forums were you are more than welcome to babble randomly about random or silly topics. This is a much more serious forum, where we will delve into the very paths that people use as their primary focus in life.

I would hope that people who come here, will learn that everyone is different, everyone's interpretation of things is different, and therefore, titles, catagories, labels and so forth, are very much obsolete. My ideas and views of christianity might differ significantly in comparison to your views. The facts about christianity will remain the same. This is why keeping FACTS and OPINIONS seperate is so important. They are both great topics to discuss, but when they are haphazardly mixed, then we run into problems, misunderstandings, fustration, and even anger and hurt feelings.

thanks for listening. happy discussion.

<END MODERATOR MODE>

The original post was in regard to all of the hub-bub about the "is satanism pagan" topics. I posted a few suggestions on how to keep any conflicts from arising, and apparently, my post was good enough to get stuck, so I decided to make it cover ALL posts in this forum, rather than focus on only a few. Any suggestions you may have to help our dicussion here are welcome to be added along the way.

Welcome to Theology and Philosohpy. I hope you learn something valuable, or have the chance to impart such knowledge.

i don't delete things.

i just stop problems before they get worse.

i'm not the type of moderator that would chop up your posts because i don't like what you said. But i will close a thread that is getting out of hand.

the only time i would ever delete something is if it were to be directly offensive, a personal attack, etc. and that would ONLY be after i asked the person in question to clean up their post themselves.

When this forum was created it was not created to be a personal bashing forum. I have had more than one moderator and I am not even going to name how many members have complained. We are here to discuss theology. Not the merit of peoples posts. If you dont agree with a post, then kindly and Respectfully add why you dont. Dont just simply say. That post is stupid and I hate you. Which is alot of what has been going on. I ask and beg of you please think before you post to a very serious thread that may become offensive if a wrong button is pushed. I really would dislike having any further conflict with anyone in this forum. Between members, between members and moderators etc. etc. I think we are all intelligent enough to know what is offensive and what is not. If you are in fear of losing your cool and may hurt someone then I ask you please to first cool down and then respond. Don't create any furthur hurt or conflict... Please I ask this one thing of you... Thank you for your time:)

Mist : great post and I agree totally with you. I think it would also help if people seriously considered keeping their topics in posts about the topic of the thread, and if they want to discuss a member's behaviour they PM that member privately. I think this would help us all stay on topic in threads, and thus make it easier for us to share our opinions on the topic, not on eachother.... :)

Just an idea tho.

Exactly... Instead of being the leader of a mutiny, be the peacemaker and make your peace with the person... Not make war with the people...

im not sure if this is the place for this if not im sorry

Q: Do you worship Satan?
A: Satan is a part of the Christian and Muslim religions. Since pagans are neither Christian nor Muslim, Satan is not part of our deity structure at all.
We believe that each and every human being is completely responsible for his or her own actions. To us, evil is a choice, albeit a bad one, that a human might make, not an embodied entity to blame our actions upon.

If an individual chooses to do evil, most pagans believe they will be punished via the laws of karma or as a result of "cause and effect.". In other words, "What goes around usually comes around."

Many Witches and Wiccans believe in some form of reincarnation, that the results or karma of past deeds can follow a person from one life to the next. This may also help to explain why terrible things sometimes happen to wonderful people or why some people seem to have been born with certain skills and knowledge. It may also explain why some people seem to lead a 'charmed" life.

Some pagans believe in an after-life spent in another plain of existence. Known as Summerland, Avalon, Valhalla or simply the "Other Side', they believe that they will be reunited here once again with friends and family.
