Have any of you ever posted a personal ad on the 'net? If so, how'd it turn out? I answered one yesterday and spent a most pleasant evening with a terrific guy. I posted one of my own today. I'll let you know how it turns out if you're interested.

Folkwitch,
Please, I would like to know how it turned out. I am married and have not used any personal ads on the web, but usually all one hears are horror stories, so tell your story! :)
Blessings,

After I talked to him for a while on instant messenger, I decided to go ahead and meet him. I asked him to meet me in a local club where I felt safe. We stayed there and talked for a little while but the music was so loud we decided to go for a drive and just talk. I drove. We went for a long drive and talked and talked and talked. Finally, I decided he was not a nutcase (probably) and I wanted to see him again. Since he's not from the same town, I brought him by my apartment for a few minutes so he could find it next time and we cuddled a little bit. WOW! He gives great cuddles and is an expert at kissing and didn't even try to go any further than I felt comfortable with. Then, about 1:30 AM, I took him back to his car. We both agree that we want to see each other again. I did send him a cool e-card afterward just so there'd be no doubt that I enjoyed the evening. End of story, so far.

Folkwitch,
Groovy! ( ;) )
I am afloat on the romance!
I am glad it turned out well. You did have me worried with the "we went for a long drive and then you decided he was not a nutcase" ( not an exact quote). I hope you decided he was not a nut case before you went for a long drive! ( .....it was a dark and stormy night as they drove into a deserted wood........) :)
Thanks for the good news, best wishes on the new relationship!
Blessings,
Cybele

Not really but I know these back roads like the back of my hand. If I left him out there, he'd never find his way home! Besides, I made sure he knew before hand that my brother's a cop. :D

I prefer men who are at least ten years younger than I am. I just moved back to NW Arkansas after being away for 30+ years. I have a California 'valley Girl" attitude that frankly intimidates most men in this area so if you're one of those macho guys who has to be boss, fair warning- I'll make your life miserable - and vice versa. I'm not interested in a guy who doesn't have time to do a proper job of courting me even if he's making money hand over fist while he's neglecting me. I enjoy alternative music (especially Yanni), jazz and R&B, great saxophone in any genre, & absolutely adore Celine Dion's Titanic album. I like moonlight walks, camping out under the stars, long drives in the country, fishing & boating. I enjoy traveling and seeing new places but also enjoy playing 'tourist' in my own area. I don't mind doing things alone if necessary, (the grape festival was great fun, for instance) but sharing experiences with someone special is the ultimate turn on for me. I love art history and in my wildest dreams I'd like to go to Florence, Italy and beyond to see all the Renaissance Art. Anyone else out there fascinated by Hieronymus Bosch? Nah, that's probably too much to ask....... Anything else you want to know? Just ask.

I've put up personals for friendship, never for dating. But I do have a good news online story. :)
I met this guy Mike in a Rock chat room when I used to have AOL. He was perfect-- sexy, great taste in music, wonderful personality, and he's from Pennsylvania. Then I met Kori through a mailing list, run by fans of Mr Big. She is wonderful. She helped me though my divorce, I helped her through hers.. we became fast friends, and she's from Wisconsin. I introduced Kori and Mike, and they hit it off quite well too. Fast forward about a year. Kori calls me and says, "Wanna go to Indiana?" Mike and his friend were going to be in Indiana for a few days for a vacation. I said sure! She paid for me to fly to Wisconsin (I met her 2 kids, they're wonderful!!), and then we drove to Indiana. When we got to Indiana, it was amazing. All 4 of us got along as if it wasn't a first time meeting but a reunion. :) A month later, Kori flew us out to Pennsylvania to stay with Mike for a week. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them since last September, but we all still talk on a daily basis. We've all agreed that it was fate that brought us together. Mike and Kori are my best friends in the world, and if it wasn't for the internet, I never would have met them. :) 3 cheers for the internet!! WOO HOO!
Let us know if you see him again, and how it goes! :) I'm so happy for you! :)
~Bree
P.S. I enclosed a pic of Rich, Me, Kori and Mike (Mike's on the bottom lookin like a dork. hehe) This was taken in Pennsylvania, the second time any of us had seen each other.

HAHAHA I have to post this picture too.. if they know I'm doing this, they'll kill me. I figured you'd guys get a big kick out of it. :)
This is Mike and Rich in our hotel room in Indiana. We were sooo bored (and a little drunk) so they decided to put the hotel curtains on as skirts. LOL Enjoy.

Yeah, I know what you mean. And - I wouldn't even answer one of those ads that talk about his car, his income, his big house, etc. What ARE they thinking when they put that stuff in an ad? What a turn off!

Ain't THAT the truth!!! Big doesn't count anyway unless they know what to do with it. :)
Hey, some of the women are pretty brazen too; how about the one who calls herself 'LickyDsplit'?

Funny seeing this topic on here. As I type this I am waiting to get an IM from a guy I've been emailing back and forth to in Australia. I saw his ad on Kiss.com and thought he was really cute. We've been emailing back and forth now for a little over a week and tonight we're gonna try to chat but I'm in New York so the time difference is really killing us...I've gotta stay up pretty late to catch him online! So far I've eailed two guys I saw online and they both seem pretty cool. I'm having fun with those personals sights, but do not have my own posted...and really do not plan to.

I met my current b/f on yahoo personals. We exchanged several emails, and phone calls. Then we met in real life and I got an amazing vibe from him. I gave him very little information about me to begin with. He didn't know my first name till we met and my last till our 2nd date. What I liked was he didn't press me about my life. He was happy with the info that I gave him and didn't ask for more. We have been together for almost a year now. Before we met, we had this ax murder joke running back and forth. I would tell him that for all I knew he was an ax murdering psyco and he would say that he would sharpen his ax before we met. Now it is a huge joke between us. He even bought me an ax of my very own. Rereading this post, it makes no sense. But you know how love is, it make everything make sense.

I use Excie Personal a lot both placing an ad and answering them. I have e-mail and phoned one person, but all the people I've talk to lived to far to meet or just stopped sending e-mail before we got to that point.:(

Ive had a few. In fact I met my 3 year boyfriend/fiancee in a chat room. I just got back from CT *I was there when I first joined this community site and was posting* I was living with him for 3 months. I have lived with him for 7 months total. Its his turn to come see my world now. I will be running an art gallery and renting a house when he gets here. We will decide if this is the life for both of us and if the engagement stays on. (It has always been a circumstantial engagement, we weren't about to leap into things right away). It was so wonderful meeting him in person the first time. He flew out to visit me on a whim while I was on a trip to San Fransisco. He treated me like a princess, we stayed in an absolutley beautiful hotel. (The Juliana, in the financial district if you know of it). He took me out to lovley dinners in China town, to sweet little cafes. All the silly sappy things I absolutley adore.
Most of my relationships have been online ones. I must admit, I did have a bad experience with meeting an online boyfriend. He cheated on me on the way to my house to visit me! ..With a 'friend' who was coming to visit me too! He cheated on me with her the whole time he was visiting, while still expecting me to be a doting little thing to him, even calling me 'woman' (ARGH!!!)
What a slime. Needless to stay that didn't last 2 seconds. :) I don't put up with that sort of treatment. Especially not in my own home. Ugh!

and what is "silly and sappy" about this? it sounds to me like the proper way to treat a lady, roses are good too by the way.

3 Cheers for Gunner!!! :)
I think it's the little things that make a relationship special. The little inside jokes and things. I get just as excited if my man brings me home a little dinky ring out of one of those quarter machines, as when he brings me home a diamond engagement ring. It's the thought that counts. :)

Thats so cute, though!!! :) My engagement ring was only $100. Some people have actually told me I need to have him buy me one thats more expensive. Screw that! I love my ring! It's white gold, and has little diamonds in the shape of a 6 pointed star. I think it's beautiful, and it means the world to me. When we get married, I'm going to have someone specially make a wedding band for it, because I want to be wearing this ring for the rest of my life. :)
When I was married before, my wedding ring cost almost $2000. It was HIDEOUS. It was the most gawdawful ugly thing I ever laid my eyes on. I hated it. Money doesn't count for everything. :)
