I had a very scary phonecall tonight...Im actually afraid to go out alone right now...I wont tell you the context of it. But I was wondering if I should wait and see if he calls me again and then tell the police or if I should write it off as a jerk trying to frighten me. I dont know what to do...

this person knows anything about you personally ,or even if he doesnt just call the police and have them make a short file on it that way they have a record of it and you feel better.
Just the energy of defending yourself works wonders. Whne I consult my lawyer on something... say a libel thing I have been dealing with .....I feel much better .... even if I am waiting to do something to defend my self....I know it is in the works :> that energy is a great booster :>
and it gets to the person that is causing the problem too.... they know on some level that you will defend yourself and prosecute...
it sends a message .....a very clear one.

I think it would be a good idea to report the phone call to the police. It may have been a one time thing, but if the person calls you back, you will at least have started a trail.

Prayers for you!

I would think its just a jerk, but just incase make sure you have the place well locked up and have some sort of protection.

Most likely it was just someone being a jerk, but just in case you should report the call to the police, since it is obviously making you nervous. That way if this person does continue their calls you'll have some proof. Lock the place up tight, keep safe, I'm thinking of you.

Coming from someone who had a stalker, I would say call the police. If it's making you nervous, then you obviously don't think it's just a simple prank caller. Don't let this ruin your life.. keep going on about your business as if nothing ever happened. Most of the time they're just looking for a response, they want to make you nervous. If they see you don't care, they'll usually go away. BUT just the same, I'd call the police, just to make a report.

Depends what was said. I had a prank caller for months, and when we finally went to the police, even tho he'd made threats and obscene remarks they told us just to change our phone # and have it unlisted. Which we did.

Without getting into any gory details, (based on my own experience) call the police and have it recorded. It could be absolutely invaluable later on if this person does not cease to harass you.

I was told much later by Police, that no call, statement, action or insult or anything you feel bothered or threatened by, is too insignificant to report. If need be, they can always contact the local phone company and find out where the call came from. Who knows?? They may already have a file started on this one particular person and are just waiting for him to bug someone else until the are within legal jurisdiction(sp?) to have a little visit with this person.

Hope you are not too terribly upset. I am thinking of ya!

all of the above suggestions and drop by the local "radio shack" shop and buy a "caller i.d." box that will display the number the person is calling from.

No one should ever be allowed to make you feel frightened in your own home. And it does sound like what this caller has done, call the police on them because even if he has only done it once
he took away your secure feelings and happiness in YOUR HOME.
The phone feature to call someone back can also be very handy
It will give you the phone number they are calling from.
Personally I would call just to help stop this person from scaring anyone else.

I will not be frightened in my own home anymore, I now have protection and know how to use it!!:uzi: :uzi:

Actually, the caller-id systems don't help much in identifying people like that. The caller-id feature can be blocked by the person calling, so their name and number will problably just show up on the caller-id box as unlisted, unknown, or blocked. (All depending on the caller-id service being used.)

However, they can be helpful in these cases to screen your calls so that you only pick up the phone if it's someone that you know.

Ohh actually .... I recommend the caller ID very highly .....they may NOT have it blocked...... I have gotten past the idea that these people are "smart" most of them are really stupid ....... AND for your own comfort at least you will know when it isnt that person ...... and dont have to have anxiety on every call :> , and *69 will help too if the number is accessible :>
