i'm very happy today!! but tomorrow i might feel completely different and i might not want to do it anymore. :T :D anyways, a new school year is coming up and i want to come out of the smelly ol' broom closet! 'cause if my friends don't like me for who i am, then screw them!!! :D
i am TIRED of not voicing my opinions, and i am TIRED of keeping my being wiccan to myself!! so i plan to tell my friends if the topic of religion happens to come up. :D or something....

Some times being different is the challenge!! I do know how you feel wanting the world to know and understand, BUT Please be careful. True friends will come to know when the time is right but others can make your life miserable.
I am not saying to hide anything just watch for the ones that will bring you and your future harm. You are at the age your making plans for your future that could be damaged if the wrong, narrow minded, back stabbing people think they know all about you and your religion.
I love it that at your age you have found your path!:) I was a later bloomer, I always knew what I was could not be all there is but had no idea in my christian home how I was supposed to find where I belonged.
Just keep in mind the people at school only know what they have seen in the movies!! and as we all know that is BULL. But at the same time these people are self declaired experts on this subject because after all they have seen the Craft, Practicle Majic, and Witches of Eastwick , so they will have no doubt discussed it many times and probably with their preacher or better yet the preachers kids so now everyone they know is an expert!!
See how that grew ------ so will the stories of you!
I lost a job, a very good job that I loved for wearing a simple pentacle on a cord at work. Because they knew what that was
and they spread their knowledge so fast that no one was going to listen to what I had to say. That and the fact when I am upset light bulbs po so of course that day alot went before I left the building!! But thats a whole different story!!
I guess I was just feeling like it would be a mistake to just come out to all whom you think are your friends and have you go through the pain of finding out they may not all be TRUE Friends
Be careful and remember you can keep us posted with how this is going for you and if they ask questions your not sure of come and ask here someone will be able to help I am sure of it!!

yes, yes i know. i will be careful. i know which friends i can tell and the ones i can't. i guess i came out a little strong on my other post. :D but i am hoping there are other people out there in the broom closet as well. but i doubt it. :)
when i go to the library i always type in my favorite wiccan sites, hoping someone open minded will take a look. :bubbles:

It's true they aren't real friends, but they can also make your life miserable for the rest of the time you're in school (been there, done that). You might also try wearing a pentacle or other symbol to school to subtly see if anyone notices, thats what I did for awhile in college (and people did notice, or I'd notice theirs...)

well, it'll be one way to find out who your friends are and see if you want to keep some of those unable to digest your beliefs. i have lots of friends who think i'm crackers. some are moslem [i think they are out to lunch], christians [poor missled souls], atheists [still searching?], buddists [hm, cool] etc. but we get along just famously and have great arguments. i mean discussions.
it's a question of tolerance, yours as well theirs. after all, nobody is 100% right, we just all think we are, one size does not fit all.
flying out from the broom closet will earn you respect with some, alas, rejection and ridicule from others. the tough part is that this will include your teachers as well, for like it or not, your marks will reflect their feelings [or lack thereof] on the subject. [trust me on that one, i know all about fixed marks!!!] and once the kitty is out of the bag, it'll be common knowledge, no matter how 'careful' you are. hey! it's just too good to pass up!
there's a page that deals with this subject and even though it appears to target a younger person, it may be helpful, take a look and see what you think:

and do not merely fly, soar!
good luck!
