During the first few weeks of pregnancy do you notice a change in your lower stomach? Does it become harder, more rounded, yet defined in that area?

Thanks for your help! :achug:

It's different for every person... but many people I know started seeing changes around the fifth to sixth week. Although they are changes that only you will probably see for awhile! (As people who don't look at your body closely probably won't notice much!)

i always notice right away. no changes you can see or touch, but you can feel the difference in there for sure. i always feel bloated, and like a have dull period cramps with in the first 2-3 days of pregnancy. also, immediately, my coordination is thrown off.. like, i'll bump my elbow or knee walking around my own house that i can run thru in the dark i know it so well.. lol. there are very small signs that most people ignore right away. i'm never 'obviously' pregnant with physical changes until the 5th or 6th month b/c for some reason i carry my kids more toward the back than most.. so my belly doesn't pop out til 6 or 7 months. but in the first week or so my boobs always start hurting too.

The first change I noticed was in my boobs as well. Kinda like with my period, but different, hard to explain. But like LadyLeo I carried towards the back (and had my labor there as well) so I didn't notice changes in my tummy as soon. Certain smells started bothering me very soon, expecially potatoes cooking, I had 'morning sickness', the Asian Flu, and strep throat all during the first month I was pregnant soI wasn't paying a lot of attention to other body changes.

I didn't really notice any roundness until my 3rd or 4th month. Quite frankly, at only 5-6 weeks, it's smaller than a peanut, and in a little water sack...so not alot to show yet. But every womans body is different. I had a friend who didn't show until she hit 7 months.

my most prevelant symptom in early pregnancy is overwhelming tiredness. i could sleep all day! i was always very overweight and so didnt notice belly changes till at least four monthes. my sense of smell sharpens dramatically in the first week or two as well. in fact once i knew i was pregnant because while visiting a children's zoo i couldnt stand to get near the pig pen.

my boobs were really sensitive in the first weeks. with my first, my belly did get hard before getting bigger (but i was skinny back then and noticed it!! not so much with my second).

and, like radikalwomyn, my sense of smell was insane. that lasted through both pregnancies until the very end though.

I didn't have any changes in my stomach for a few months, I got a little "bloated" around 3-4 months and had to wear looser clothes but no one could tell but me. I didn't 'show' until around five months and even then people didn't really notice, I didn't get very big at all, I too carried my babies closer to the back.

My tummy did get tighter around then but I didn't show til about 7 months....the girl at the local video store didn't even know I was pregnant til I hit my 8th month. But not everyone is the same in these regards.

when your uterus tips back toward your bowel instead of forward (retroverted uterus) u tend to show later. its considered an abnormality even tho about 40% of women have it.

with my daughter, i didn't notice any change at all in the first few weeks, it was about 4-8 weeks i noticed a change, which was all day sickness (there is a proper name for it)...
With my son however, i thought i was gona have twins, i bloated out pratically from the word go  and my boobs were tender.

i thought of something else... at any point in pregnancy, if i wear pants that are 'snug' at the top, it makes me horribly sick. i get this disgusting vomity feeling until i loosen them or change them.

My cycles are not very predictable so I was 6 weeks along before I found out I was pregnant. Just days after I became PG my breasts were very sore and I was crampy and a bit bloated. Frankly these are all common PMS symptoms so I thought nothing of it..... except that weeks passed and no period! I finally thought I might be PG when I got very tired and extremely hungry and nauseous, like my blood sugar was crashing about 10 am every day.

From about 2 months on I did feel very bloated and was definitley retaining water. But that settled down in a few weeks. The hard rounded belly part didn't start until month 4 or so.

I always found that even in the first few weeks of pregnancy, my belly was swollen and my pants no longer fit. . .
