its gas, the electric part is only the firing mechanism that uses a spark to ignite the gas as it comes out of the burners, pretty much all gas stoves operate that way now.

Gas
It really does heat more evenly than electric.
And if you live in a cold climate like I do where the electricity goes out a lot in the winter it's a necessity!
Especially if you have a stupid gas furnace that has an electric timer and ignition that won't come on if the dang elect goes out!!! (minor rant, feel better now.)

Definitely for gas. It cooks much better than electric stoves do, IMO.

I have electric, but I grew up with gas. I like gas better. You turn it off, it's *off*. You can *see* where the flame is, how hot it's getting. With electric, you have to remember what number you turned it to the last time when you burned the pancakes and set it lower... :geez:

When I do not have time to conjure fire from my bare hands, and I want to fit in with you mortals I use the electric stove. ;)

I prefer a gas stove but I have an electric. It's an old '50's GE that I bought for the retro look to go with my '50's fridge.

Gas. I grew up with gas and am trying to make do with an electric stove now. I keep turning on the wrong burner.
This week the sink was so overcrowded with dishes that I had to put some on the stove (there was really no other place). I tried to get all of them washed before I started cooking, but for some reason I just didn't see a plate that was left on a back burner. In short, I turned on the wrong burner and the plate exploded! That would never happen with a gas stove! :geez:

gas. I grew up with a gas range, and have only had electric since I've been living in apartments, and I HATE them. I find I have much more control over the temp with a gas range, and things just seem to cook better in a gas oven.

I voted wood stove. When Armagedon comes it will be one of the few remaining things you can count on.

I have a gas stove and I love it. When I win lotto and am able to buy my own house, I'll be putting in a gas stove if there's not one already.
The only thing is, the oven is electric. I'm either undercooking food, or making my own charcol bricks out of what used to be food.
The last place I was in had gas for both. I miss it.

I have an electric and i hate it... I have not been able to make brownies right since i moved out of my mom's house... At my mom's she has an really old gas stove (the kind you actuaslly have to get down and light with a match) and i was so use to that not i can't bake anything. Plus i'm not use to the whole degrees thing, on that stove it's either off or on...

Had the gas guy out to turn on my heater's pilot light. Good thing too. Turns out there was a tiny gas leak... And there was so much gunk in there that it most likely would have formed carbon monoxide. Ick.
While he was there he told me, without even looking, that the pilots on the stove were too high because he could *smell* it. He said that having that could cause things like headaches because it formed (something I can't remember the name of). Turns out I HAVE been having headaches in the front room.
Moral of the story kiddies... Get your gas appliances checked out from time to time. Carbon monoxide is silent, odorless and deadly.

I have a gas stove. I don't like it much, though. Sure the oven heats up immediately, in comparison to electric ovens.. But I can't cook garlic bread to a crunchy, golden brown in a gas oven. Not to mention that you can hardly simmer anything, since the flame keeps going out. O.o

everything is gas...but, we also have a wood burning stove...comes in handy during power fails, and is quite romantic in the winter(and the fall, too!) :floating:

do you have a broiler? I use that for garlic bread. you just have to watch it, don't leave it in for very long, because it gets done really fast.

It does have a broiler, but it doesn't seem to work properly. It just makes the edges burn, but the part with the butter is still soft. o.O

I answered other because was unsure of the question. Gas or electric what?
so my back up was...............Radiation!
:)
gas stove. gas water heater.
both great. Electric stoves suck for cooking, but the best stove for homestyle stuff is a wood stove. _cookie_
