Would anyone know where I could find an online herbal index? One that not only explains what the herb is, but perhaps pictures of them, and sort of uses it has had over the centuries?

I've been spending the last hour or so searching for such but to no avail.

Or perhaps an online herbal index geared toward uses in rituals, spells, or ceremonies? I've always been curious to see what herbs go to what spell and why. :D

No, I don't intend on casting any spells or performing rituals, for those inquiring. I'm not ready for that yet.

i have been buying herb books and gardening books and going to herb stores for my research i have a list of over 200 herbs that are used in majic and what they are used for they do not always let you know why just that they have been used for years for this special purpose

alot can be found in basic gardening books

like I found that aloe everybody knows medically is used for burns and healing the stomache and intestines but i found that they also are to atract luck and if you have a plant near every door to the outside world it is said to absorb negative energy and protect all that dwell there.
this is the kind of research I have been working on in the past couple of months

Would respectfully suggest that you pick a handful of herbs you like or know something about and work with those first.

I quite often run candle magick workshops which correspondences always play a part in. My advice to my students is to find something that means something to you!!

For me Rosemary is connected with learning and wisdom so I would use it when revising an exam. However my friend associates Rosemary with lamb, lambs with spring, spring with new beginnings. So she used it to find a new job and house. The point is, if that's the way your mind works, then fair enough - your spell craft will have more power!!

Good luck!
