Here I am with a big "Hey Y'all!" from Texas!

I learned soooo much this past month - but I don't know how much of it will interest you guys. I'll just write it out as I have time, and you can answer or not, as you like :)

The first thing we did after arriving in Houston was to drive west for 4 hours out to the company ranch. It started out flat flat flat, and eventually got into the hill country. What we were doing was driving from the coastal plain into the fault zone. If we'd kept going west, we'd have climbed up and onto the high, flat plateau of West Texas.

Basically like this, except in Texas the hills are right at the fault, and the high plain behind is flat:

I have to run, but I promise I'll be back to finish the story.

Hi! Thanks and :hugz: to all of you!

Other things I now know about Texas...hmm...

Galveston Island, the large resort island off the southern coast of Texas, connected thereto by a large bridge, is a barrier island, and is the largest in a chain of barrier islands along the coast.

These are the sorts of things we look for buried underground! They are made of sand, and are very good at holding oil.
