i'd never thought of manatees as "cute", they're a bit big for that. the big problem seems to be that they get "run over" by boats and cut up by the propellors, too often fatally. given a choice i think i'd rather share a patch of ocean with manatees than sharks.

My Moma is from Florida and they are doing alot to protect them because of the boats. They are on the indangered list. I know they are huge but they are very graceful in the water!!!

Like me! but I am working on it I am now down 41 pounds since May 24th. I think it must be my nerves or something!!

OH do tell how did you do it!! I still have a ways to go and hate feeling the stomache upset all the time. I just quit eating, mostly it was nerves but now that they are calming down I am affraid I will put it back on!! I stopped drinking pop, go for walks everyday ( this clears my head too) and just eat once a day mostly veggies and fruit , trying to stay away from as much meat because i feel better when I dont eat the red meat my joints are not as achey.

I have fought this since I was 16 I loose to 135-140 get married and grow to 220 I think its the men!!!!!! LOL
I guess if I do not have the content feeling I will be thin!!

The Manatee live in South American rivers after the rains and then return to the ocean when the rivers start drying up in
the hot season....about every six months.
At one time, early mariners believed the Manatee to be mermaids,
too much grog I guess. :D

I LOVE MANATEES!!

And I think it sucks that they get chopped up all the time and such...

*shakes fist in anger*

We humans really have made a bad name for ourselves...we have destroyed much as a species...it's always great to see people who care :D

Awwwwwwwwwwww...... I absolutely love Manatee's. They've got to be one of my most favorite creatures. When I went to Disney World with my family back when I was in high school we went to the aquarium there and I got to pet the Mantees that they had, talk about an experience. On of these days I won't to go to Florida and swim with them. I was supposed to when I lived there but it didn't happen, :(.

sherry,

i can relate, had a weight problem all my life [well, maybe not some 5-10 yrs off and on since childhood, but that doesn't count, because i still FELT fat.]

i found my biggest problem was allergic addictions. i'm the addictive type [my daughter calls hershelf a nonpracticing alcoholic, same idea] and you can get the same kind of reaction to foods as you can to anything else.

i'm allergic to wheat f.ex. and can happily chomp down a loaf of italian bread [my mouth waters at the very thought] so i don't by it any more. :wah: afterwards it gives me a nonspecific craving and i'd rummage for anything to stop it!

what i eat now is lots of soups, no breads, sweets [sigh.], and no pop, juice, etc. tons of water. and hurrah, i've lost 15 lbs since july. i hope you like soup....

i was heading for a manatee shape. and cute as they are, i didn't fancy looking like one myself! besides, i could have run into a drunken sailor....
