Sam, if you don't remember anything, I would suggest you start at the beginning of paganism. There are some good books that people can recommend here. I'd start with something by Cunningham or The Inner Temple of Witchcraft by Christopher Penczak. There are also books you can find that deal with the written word and spells. Here's another hint: there's a nifty search function at the top of this screen. Click on that and type the word spells and I'm sure you'll find numerous other topics.

You are not going to move particularly far if all you do is demand that people hold your hand the entire way. I would suggest going to the bookstore and simply skimming through the books present. Take a notebook and jot down what you find. Most people are not particularly willing to coddle you and baby you. If you don't even know how to write/say a simple spell and you're unwilling to go research it, in my opinion, you don't need to be doing one.
Furthermore, the best spells are the ones you fumble through the creation of on your own.

Someties if you go to used bookstores you can get some quality books.

PS True magic comes from the heart.

I'm glad you got what you wanted. Just to add my own opinion though, you might want to try practicing at a couple of spontaneous rituals first. You only need a basic plan for them and they're GREAT at getting you comfortable with the various stages of a more structured ritual.

Really? Hmm... How so? You'll need some very basic knowledge if you want to call the quarters or invoke anything as that often involves seperate entities, but I don't see how a simple circle casting could be messed up that badly...

You should look at the Basic Spell Craft class in the Circle of Teaching. We'll also be covering it in the Candle Magic class.

Do a google search for 'magical correspondences'. This will get you a lot on moon phase, colors and herbs that you can incorporate into your spells.

Okay....I really, heartfeltedly suggest you find, read, reread, and study a book by Isaac Bonewitz titled 'Real Magic'. That's gonna be your best guide to theory, and you need a really good grounding in theory before you begin (in my opinion). Magick is not cooking...you can't just follow someone else's recipe and get exactly the same results (as if you CAN do that in cooking, but you get my point). All of these things you'll be using in your spell are symbols, even the candle, that you will be bringing together. If you don't know what they symbolize, then the most important ingredient, your intention, will be either improperly targeted or absent, and then nothing will happen.

Once you have a good grounding in theory, you won't need other people's recipes, you should be able to make your own, but then in case you need some kind of guide I suggest The Magician's Compendium, and the Elemental Encyclopedia of Spellwork.

Oh dear, been there done that - not pleasant is it? :T

There's a runes class going on in the C.O.T forum, as well as a basic spellcraft and candle magic course - maybe you should join those - they're free :)

If you have any specific questions you can PM me anytime you like

Give your public library a try. I was positively astounded at the number of books on witchcraft & related subjects that I found there (and I live in the absolute buckle of the bible thumpin' belt!).

spells dont demand expensive set ups.. the herbs in the kitchen will work fine candles arent that costly most dollar stores sell incense but when all is said and done they are just things, tools to direct the magick within..try meditation when you want to write a spell you will find that exactly what you need will come to you when you need it.. you cant force magick.. as for love spells the best thing for that is a spell to open your heart, love will find you.. that is how i met my husband.. it doesnt go against anyones free will it just keeps you open for when it comes your way.. one very important thing though when it comes to spells if you are going to use herbs be careful some herbs are dangerous to use while pregnant.. (i assume you meant you were pregnant) I have stayed away from using herbs and oils while i am pregnant to be on the safe side and i havent had any problems with spells not working.. it has helped me to go within for the magick and not rely on props (not that there is anythng wrong with using tools) but i have found that no matter where i am i always have everything i need as it is all within.. Blessed Be ~Morrigan~
