Going over to my husbands grandparents house, and opening presents with his spoiled little biotch sisters!
They get everything they want all year long, whenever they are punished his grandparents don't stick to it, they scream, fight, and turn the whole expierience into a nightmare! And everything they get isn't good enough, or the other one got better and they want that. They are sooooooo ungrateful!
I told my hubby a few weeks ago that I didn't want to go do it. He understands, but says it's like that every year.
Please....HELP!

Now that you know the bad (And, that sounds horrible !!!!)
What are you most anticipating ? I know there's a silver lining :D.

For me, it's three things: buying stuff, wrapping stuff, and paying the credit card bill for the stuff.

Actually, I HATE Christmas. Something bad happens every year. No I'm not exagerating. We are not even going to celebrate Christmas in our own home until January, because of that, and because my hubby and two sons birthdays all fall in Dec.
So if I have to pick something to anticipate, I'd have to say New Years. Hopefully we'll have enough money this year to go rent the honeymoon suite again. It has a king size waterbed, and a heart shaped whirlpool bathtub. Way cool.

I pretty much dislike everything about it. I guess what I like about it, is that it's over 1/2.

Taking a pregnancy test, it being positive, and me having to tell my family over the holidays, including my dad who would probably disown me.
 That's the worst case scenario. I'm not, by any means, saying it's going to happen... I just thought of the worst possible thing that could happen.
What am I ACTUALLY dreading? hmm... This doesn't tie on with anything "holiday", but when I get back to Calgary in 2 days I'm going to have to find a job, get an apartment and move out in about a month. gah! I'm all worried again now... I need a hug :hugz: Not to mention having to get presents and deal with all things holiday!

I hate holidays. But my g/f & I celebrate one year together on New Years Eve, so...that rocks. :) Everything else usually sucks: family, shopping etc.

Me too! That's why I found it hard to find anything wrong with the actual holidays. I mean, sure I said buying presents and such, but even that is fun because you get to shop and spend money!

Hate the thought of spending money. It's going to be a very frugal holiday in our household, basically because my poxy employer still hasn't paid my pay rise and bonus, which should have been paid last July...

Since I'm spending Christmas/Yule with ND, I'm flying down, and this is the FIRST time. I'm so damn nervous, it's hilarious lol.

I'm nervous about seeing my relatives - I hardly ever see them so I often feel as though I'm being judged and compared to my cousins and I really hate that.

I'm going to be in Japan for Christmas and New Year (25 days till I leave!!), so I'm worried about getting insanely homesick and missing all the fun. We have a MASSIVE Christmas each year, so going to a country where they don't celebrate it is going to be....weird....

Having to go visit my parents and brothers :(
I don't really want to go but because I'm single its expected (Is getting out of seeing parents at christmas a good reason to get married?). so it'll end up in a argument if I don't go and an argument if I do
edit *and I worry about leaving my horse if I go away .... but on the plus side I get to see the cats at my parents house)*
Still happy yule :)

What part of Christmas Hols, or New Year are you anxious about and dreading ?Not being with my kids. They usually spend the holidays in Texas with their grandparents. This year though, they are living there. The grandparents and family (their dad's side) will have them this holiday season too. :sadman: I miss them and wish I could just skip the holidays all together this year. :wah:

I like the decorations, the scent in the air, and the weather, but this year I have no money to buy gifts so don't know what I'm going to do. That and I dread my boyfriend's depression, it happens every holiday season, without fail!
I'm looking forward to the end of my last semester of college and to a new beginning. That and seeing my animals adorable antics as they play in the wrapping paper! Too cute!!

All of it. Just once I'd like to just stay home with my hubby and kids and not have to worry about fitting in time with all of our families. There's just not enough time that time of year!!!

Dealing with my MIL and all the little games that she plays being the victim and all. Annoys me to no end how the rest of DH's family dances around the issues and caters to her instead of taking it head on.

The only thing I dread about the holidays are the tallies of drunk driver accidents where innocent people are hurt by idiots who drink and drive. And that I have to face the fourth anniversary of my mother's death...but that is something that--no matter the time of year--would be hard.
Otherwise, I love the holidays and am planning a blow out season this year--I've worked damned hard all year long and am almost done with another book, and I want to have fun this Thanksgiving/Yule!

I've decided not to freak out this year. For example this past weekend we spent it doing NOTHING! because soon enough we'll be busy going all over the place! So, I am going to be ordering the stuff to make candles and bath stuff and hopefully get some stuff made by Thanksgiving but if not, oh well! It'll wait.

Holiday traffic. From Thanksgiving until New Year's, the traffic around here gets really bad. It wouldn't bother me much if it were limited to the shopping centers... but because the bus route I have to ride to get to school and home again passes through the mall parking lot, even though I'm not going to the mall, the traffic makes my bus late.
Being trapped with the relatives. I love the family we spend our holidays with... but I can only take so much of being stuck in a house with that many people making that much noise. I'm an introvert and I'm sensitive to (unharmonious) noise. I get overloaded in a short time for holidays and because I'm relying on others to get me to and from where I need to be, I'm stuck until they are ready to leave. All too often, that puts me staying where I am much longer than I wanted to. I think I may bring my cd player and lots of really loud music with me. It works on the city bus to tune out the world, maybe it'll work there, too.

The thing I look most forward to is the food. Turkey, Mashed Potatos, Apple Pie, Ham, Nachos, Candy Canes, Hot Chocolate, Cold Choclate, Chocolate chocolate, dinner rolls, Cinnabon (My family tradition we have cinnabon for christmas breakfast.) I'm not one of these people who make a new years resolutions to loose wait, I make one to gain it!

dreading: if i dont get the presents done on time (i have about 10 more people to make gifts for this year, EEEK!) and telling my cousin that i wont be going up to washington to see her for christmas.

I work retail. 'Nuff said.
Though the case of food poisoning I got two years ago comes in a close second as far as "what could happen again." I'm just sad I can't eat my "world famous" stuffing recipe without cringing anymore.

the big one's dealing with the larger amounts of people out and about. i tend to have a hard time dealing with amounts of people in stores, so the holiday season just makes it worse.
and i am NOT looking forward to having to work on the salesfloor for the first two hours on the day after thanksgiving. i've been having anxiety about that for the past few weeks now.

Honestly, I'm dreading the whole season. All the emotions that I know wil come with the holidays, and all the people I love that I have lost this year alone. *sighs* When I was younger( in my teens, LOL) I celebrated every holiday like it could be my last with my family. It's a good thing I did, because I knwo my dad's last xmas was a good one(4 years ago). I regret last year, and not spending more time with my brother or my sister who died this year. I hate the fact my birthday is new years day, and I'll be 25. LOL, and no one remembers. I hate the fact I don't get any xmas cards. LOL.. I really think I'm gonna be the grinch soon.

I'm not looking forward to the whole Christmas dinner thing because it's at my house and I don't particularly like some of my relatives. I generally love the whole Christmas feeling though, and advent calendars rock :cutesanta I'm kinda worried about the New Year because my best friend will be going back to England (I'm from Aus) and I'm starting beauty college where I don't know anyone, so it's a bit daunting. But I make friends easily so I'm sure I'll be fine. However, I also have to pay the course fees back to my parents which is going to take me quiet a while... So I'm not looking forward to that one! But otherwise, woohoo bring on the new year!

BUT... what I am dreading is actually shortly AFTER the New Year... my baby is due anywhere between Dec 22 - Jan 12... looking forward to THAT... yet I'm dreading returning to my job that I really don't like in 2005. I'm hoping maybe I can land something part-time so I can be a part-time stay-at-home Mommy... :spinnysmi

I'm dreading the stores and shopping.I really don't like the crowded shops :ahhhh: I'm also not looking forward to running all around on Christmas. We go to at least three places that day,but this year I think we're going to invite my family here...one less place to visit.
What I AM looking forward to though is spending Yule at home with just my hubby and kids :hearthear The house will be decorated and so cozy looking, and I'm hoping it will be a nice quiet evening to enjoy each other. Can't wait!

Being able to afford to buy Christmas for the kids. My son, we may be able to handle. My hubby has some credit at his store, EB Games. And my son plays video games, so we can get him stuff there. Our 2 year old is another story. I'm really not sure what we're going to be able to get for her, if anything at all. Right now, we're barely making it from paycheck to paycheck--I had to put a gallon of milk on my credit card. I really don't want to use my credit ard for Christmas. But if things keep going like they are, we'll have to. I've been selling things on Amazon.com, but that money goes directly to helping us make it from paycheck to paycheck. UGH this sucks....

You know, it occurs to me a number of people with small children might be in this situation. Have you thought of maybe trying to start a 'toy exchange' with them? Like, say your son has outgrown a few of his toys that are still in decent condition. Have all the parents get together and exchange toys--dunno if it would work but it's a thought. You might be able to do that here, too. I know there are lots of folks with little kids here.
