Can you have more than one famlier? I think I have three. Does anyone know???

You can have as many familiars as necassary. I have 2.

Familiars are basically friends -- and you can certainly have more than one!

I've always been curious... how do you tell if they're your familiar... and not just a pet?

I would say that a pet would be a familliar if they contribute in some way to your magical/religious stuff. If they like to sit with you when you are meditating, or are drawn to you when you're doing a ritual, that might be a sign.
