I finally did it! I got out there and cleaned out the flower bed tonight! I"m ready to plant! - but I have no idea what to plant this time of year - well, actually I have no idea what to plant- any time of year. This is my 1st herb garden. ...okay, my first any kind of garden. I know this is probably not the best time of year to start one, but I do live in NCentral Texas - very mild winters. Here are a couple of pics of what I've got to work with:

It's about 10' x 3'. There's an overhang from the roof, and if you were looking at the flower bed you'd be facing north.

I would appreciate any guidance, ideas,.... Even a link to a good beginning herb gardener web site would be great. (preferably a Pagan or Wicca oriented site if you know of any. )

Oh! - if anyone has some info on night gardens please post it. For some reason I haven't been able to get that out of my mind since I began thinking about a garden.

Thanks.

Hmmm...there was an older thread about planting a moon garden. I'll see if I can find it.

That's not a bad size spot for your garden. The plants you put in there would depends on what you want to do with them. I would suggest planting a mix for cooking, making into teas & a few plants for magical workings.

Rosemary, chives, thyme, tarragon, oregano, lemon balm, peppermint, lavender, chamomile, calendulas are a few standards. They have good all-around uses...for cooking, beauty aids, teas, as well as magical uses.

I found these two threads...
