about a month ago, my sweetie went to visit his family for a coupla days. he got badly sunburned on his mini-vacation, poor thing. the very first night he was home, i dashed off to the local supermarket and picked up a potted aloe vera plant (it was a GIANT!). though he resisted, i insisted, and before long i had smeared his entire burn with sqeezed-out aloe goo.

we went to sleep.

he woke up in the middle of the night itching like mad and nearly in tears for wanting to scratch. so i detatched another leaf from our new friend and took drastic measures. i trimmed off the pointy-bits, laid the leaf flat on a plate and sliced it in two (flatwise, not widthwise). then i scraped out every last bit of goo i could, scooped the sticky mess up with my hands and gently massaged my poor, itchy sweetheart until he felt better.

by the next day, we could barely tell he'd been burned. and his skin was super, super soft.

has anyone else had such a dramatic experience with aloe before? i love the stuff--if i hadda choose a favorite plant, it'd be aloe vera. :)

The aloe plant is SOOO good! I've used it for sunburns, rashes & cuts, scrapes, & lots of other things. I have them everywhere in my house. :D

Im in the health care feild(as much as I can say), I also know of many doctors and nurses who eat the aloe plant 2 times a day to rid themselves of ulcers and its worked for them! Blessed be!

is always better than the bottled stuff .......... workds wonderfully well ....... years ago when I was living on a farm in West Virginia ..... we cooked on a wood stove .... and I burned my hand .... had a HUGE blister, and put some aloe on it , and the next day it was gone .......................

i am feeling so goofy today!

anyhoo, thanks for responding so quickly.

i grew up in the desert. i got sunburned a LOT. aloe has probably saved me from serious skin cancer. even so, i had never experienced as quick a fix as my sweetie did. go figure.

Aloe is the best . As a child I was burnt very badly on my leg ,thanks to a smart mom who has always had the rule of having at all times in the house these items below ,I was fine within 2 days.

1. chamomile tea
2. basil plants
3.rosemary plant
4.fresh garlic
5.fresh lemons
6.peppermint tea or plant
7.HUGE ALOE PLANT ..(it takes up a whole bay window)

She calls these items her " 7 wonders of the world ".
