I have a majorly huge question, for anyone who can answer blessed may you be for all eternity. I acquired a deck of Renissance themed tarot cards based on the Rider-Waite tarot . Unfortunatly for me coming from a family of tarot readers that have no time to teach is the kind of luck i have. I acquired these cards out of pure curiosity and also because my father practices Santeria and one of his "friends" said that my path showed that i would be a successful spiritual guide and tarot reader. BUt back to my question i askedmy father who also reads tarot and my aunt if they could recommend me any books but to my luck they can only recommend them in spanish. if any one can please ,please, please recommend a book for me to start with i would appreciate it so much. thanks the danafairy

I'm learning the tarot and I have had more luck reading the lessons posted in the tarot portal here on MW than any of the books I've tried to read. You might want to go through those lessons too. :) The books I've looked at were just confusing compared to the lessons here. (Of course they were just the books that came with my decks).

i have a few pretty good books... lemme see if i can find them on amazon so you can take a look for yourself...

i hope this helps... out of all the books i have on the subject, i find these two to be the most helpful, especially the first for beginner readers.

Well, there's a couple of other threads on books and how to get started. I'm sure there are many more, but I used limited search keywords. Good luck!

One of the easiest books I've worked with is A Magical Course in Tarot by Michele Morgan. And don't laugh but The Complete Idiot's Guide to Tarot isn't a bad starter either.

Oddly enough, the book I've found most useful so far is the Collins Gem pocket book. I can carry it round anywhere, and it provides a reasonably in-depth guide to the card meanings and to spreads, as well as other useful tidbits.
Also I find Aeclectic Tarot (http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot) to be really helpful too.
