which gods and goddesses (deities) do you worship and why?

Bast and Ullr...because they chose me. Because they've been with me my entire life.

I don't worship any of the gods, but rather I try to take them with me throughout today and allow them to "speak to me" and "guide me". I worship Divinity through my adoration of life, death and the natural process of renewal.

I worship "the Divine" (which is a general power source in the universe from which, in my views, all deities spring from). This Divine power is my general deity, when I'm feeling rather lost and confused and not entirely sure how religious I am at the moment.

I also tend to speak to a Mother and Father force, the next steps down from the ulimate Divine. Depending on how I'm feeling, I'll either view them as the Wiccan Lord and Lady, or as a more general, kitchen-witch feel of an Earth Mother and Sky Father.

As for specific deities, I've yet to come to be connected with any particular deities yet. I haven't chosen any, and they haven't chosen (or appear, at least) to me. I have an interest in Bridgit, but I'm still sorting out my views.

I worship all the gods and goddess of the Celtic pantheon (those I know of, anyway) and also, rather randomly, Athena of the Greek pantheon. She choose me... no idea why, but she did, and I'm glad of it.

The Tuatha De Danann, and other various Irish deities.

Primarily Athena, Artemis, the Minoan Snake Goddess, and Kali. I can't really explain why in any depth. I discovered the Greeks when I was about 11 and Artemis spoke to me right away. I could connect with her; I think it's her independence. Athena came later when I was in high school because it was then that I discovered that I have a strong, active desire for social justice. The Minoan Snake goddess came even later, in college. I've no idea why. I don't know how Kali got in there either. I don't worship any specific male deities. I haven't been able to connect to any. So I keep that pretty generic - just God.

The Shinto pantheon. I have great love and respect for them. They like me, too.

I wouldn't say that I "worship" anyone or anything, but I feel very connected to Ing (Freyr), and nature wights in general. Why? They are very... earthy... natural... and I guess because I actually see them they're a lot more real to me! Ing is amazing; there is respect at both ends. He wants nothing from me, and I ask nothing from him, and we just enjoy each other being there. It's comforting.

I don't have a specific diety for my God. I just refer to him as Father God. For the Goddess I do have a diety, Persephone. Well I have her for my diety cause she represents a balance. She is Goddess of the Underworld yet loves nothing more than (stereotypicly) happy things like flowers and the sun. She even lives her life split. Part of the year with her Mother Demeter and part of it with her Husband Hades. I'm very much a believer in balance. I think balance is in everything so a diety that represents that is perfect!

I was called by the Morrigan early on in my studies. She did not claim me officially till I broke free of the bad relationship I was in, though she was always lurking in my thoughts. Recently, in a trance, the Dagda came to me and claimed me as well...I am a daughter of the union of their energies. It's a good balance for me...I see more of her than I do of him, because I currently have more of a need to balance and work on controlling my feminine energies.

The gods of the Religio Romana - because they're part of my cultural identity.

Mostly Greek pantheon. Artemis, Athena, Hecate, Eris, Pan, Dionysus, etc.
Some "other" are Isis, Osiris, Horus, Freya, Yemaya and Obatala.

My coven deities I work with are Celtic... I feel most drawn towards the Morrigan.

Hecate and Cernunnos, respectively.

Yes, the pantheons are mixed but the only time I work with them together is to light them both a candle and give them both an offering during workings.

As for the second part of the question: I don't know exactly why they call to me... Perhaps because I see them both as being very strong individuals, and as I am an only child this is the quality that attracts me.

But in all honesty I don't really have a concrete "Why". A slightly trite but honest answer would be: "I felt drawn so I went with it".

Currently, Aset (Isis), Sobek and Djehuti (Thoth, 'Beaky One'), though Bast holds a special place in my heart. I worship the Egyptian deities. Why? Because it feels right. I dunno. I've always felt drawn to Them. I think about Egypt and i think of home, though i've never been there. It's a strange fascination.

bright blessings,
argent

I believe that above all things is a life force, this life force is neither male nor female its not a god in itself,it merely is,it is the driving force behind all things,it is neither evil or good but contains both light and dark elements...from this life force come the god and goddess,Satan and his counter part Lilith. And I also believe in the existence of lesser deities and spirit beings.

Oh you said and why?
Because they reperesent the human spirit, the reality of who we are and that we are not as a race evil or born evil.

Worship? That's a loaded word. Do I worship a God and Goddess? More like I feel a connection to Gaia and the Green Man. This is partly because of me and my husband's life style and where we live. We are extremely in tune with the earth, the seasons, growth, death, etc. If feeling and believeing that the planet we live on is a living thing and at all that inhabit it are connected, I guess you could say that is a why of worship.

I have no need of gods or godesses nor powers that be nor things that aught to have been. I am all realities. I walk all paths and none but my own. When I am centered upon my path I see the signs that tell me so. When I have veered to the left or to the right I see no signs and so I know I need to change direction slightly. I walk in harmony with nature and I show repect to all I meet Treat me as I treat you.. with respect. Do no harm to me as I do no harm to others. Ask me not for forgiveness for I do not forgive nor do I ever ask for forgiveness for I need none.
