Without going into too much detail on my experience tonight during a group ritual (because it's pretty personal), I'm wondering what it means when an entranced Priest/Priestess looks directly at you, and nobody else seems to notice but you? I'm greatly wondering if this God in question (Osiris - Blessed Be!) was offering to make a connection with me as a patron diety, or merely letting his eternally higher knowledge and power be felt and known to me specifically (for reasons of his own choosing, obviously). And this is not as insignificant as it might sound to some people either, because I felt something inexplicably over-awing after what happened.

A great many thanks to any and all replies! :smileroll

Did the Priest/Priestess look directly at anyone else? If not then maybe that specific God was trying to get your attention. Have you felt a pull towards Osiris before? Maybe engage in some meditation while concentrating on him and see what happens.

I don't know if he looked at anyone else, but the Priest was definitely still entranced at the time when he glanced my way. But it was the feelings/sensations I got that really mattered, I think, and not the actual glance.

I've never felt a draw towards any Egyptian Gods or Goddesses before, but his attributes (of Osiris) after reading futher up on him (almost frighteningly) seem to fit in with me in some very similar ways. I'll have to do some light reflective forms of meditation (I'm not into the heavy stuff yet!), and try to find out more. Or maybe he'll come in my dreams...

<nods> I have a Kemetic friend who had no interest in the Netjeru or Egypt at all but she has jokingly told me that she was hounded by Bast until she gave in. I'm not implying you are being called to Kemeticism, but from what I understand the Netjeru can be and usualy are aggresive about getting attention. Not in a harmful way, but they have no qualms about practically screaming to get your attention.

I'm sure someone who knows more about him could give you more info, but I would say that based on what you said, he was certainly trying to get your attention.

Yes, I think I've definitely made a connection here with Osiris (after a 45+ minute long 'Wiccan' solitary and offering in the wee early hours of the morning). Kind of ironic to be introduced to my first Patron Diety on my very first entranced priest/ess ritual experience (which was done in the Egyptian Kemetic form). he he. I guess Osiris took the rite as a grand opportunity to pick somebody out, and it just happened to be me! j/k :)

I just want to add something here; interest does not a patron make. There could be many other reasons Osiris wishes to get your attention. In fact I think that the whole patron deity thing is way overblown by most people in the neo-pagan community. It was not a common thing back in the day, and I don't think it's as common now as most people like to think. Becoming a priest or priestess of a god or goddess is something you should think long and hard about before doing.

Yes, I've done some serious reflecting about the whole thing, and feel a bit *dumb* I guess. Osiris has definitely shown me something important, and I think that I was just overly excited that he chose to connect with me (the first God/ess to do so!) on that night. But it's more than likely that the entire purpose of the ritual was for him to connect with everyone present that night, in similar ways. As for the glance he gave, this has stronger meaning for me, and I'll have to explore it further, but it doesn't necessarily mean what I thought it did!

Oh don't feel dumb. It's natural to feel very excited when a god shows interest in you. I know I felt that way when Nehelennia first appeared to me. I just wanted to make sure that you looked at all the options first before assuming that is why the interest. He may have a message for you or wanted to let you know that you're on the right path. Maybe He is your patron, it's certainly possible, just do some exploring first. I hope you find what you're looking for.
