Has anyone ever visited Gettysburg, or any other Civil War Memorial site? I've been to Gettysburg, Antietam and Harper's Ferry, but I got the strongest sensations and images at Gettysburg. I was just wondering if anyone would like to share their experiences with me.

I went to Gettysburg a couple summers ago. Now it's completely normal for me to be in the most haunted place and feel nothing, and so I felt nothing. But, my mom and our family friend both felt something really deeply. Particularly around the Devil's Den. Now there were no battles near my house, but there was a Civil War field hospital just down the road, and that creeps me out, particularly at night. Perhaps being at Gettysburg at night would be significantly more of an experience for me. That's all I have.

There is a ton of ghost stories about Gettysburg. From photos to accounts of strange people in period uniforms wandering the field. It's perhaps the most haunted battlefield in the US.

Gettysburg at night is the way to go. And Devil's Den is where I experienced most of my images. Have you ever seen a gun fire at night? There is a weird flash - very centralized, not at all like lightning. Up in the hills off to the side of the den - you could see a battle. Gunshots firing from two different sides, it was very very exciting. No sounds, though. In another location, I heard a horse clopping, and spurs clinking - as the noise got nearer to me, I could actually smell the horse.
If you ever have a chance, check out the Farnsworth House. Great food, first of all - all authentic 1860's cuisine and cutlery - but there is a woman that does a "Haunted Gettysburg" presentation in full costume in the basement of the restaurant. It was a great time.

No I've never been to Gettysberg in particular however I have been to a lot of other Civil War battlefields, and yes it is an eerie feeling and I also in some of the places feel deja vu.
